  1. Have I read this wrong, or have you just described Mason Campton as an exceptionally strong reserve?
  2. He never got a work permit previously - as Berwick didn't proceed with it once they realised he was going to be a 7.00 rider I believe. I hope not, otherwise we're in trouble....
  3. I'd agree with you Paulco, it could be really good and we all know that Somerset aren't afraid to wield the axe if someone isn't good enough - so im sure we will be there come the end of the season in some shape or form. I guess it's the lack of heat winners especially away from home that worries people at the moment. I don't know much about Jake Allen either so not sure what he's about either, but have only heard good reports.
  4. It has the makings with Starke, Allen, Wilson-Dean and Zak to be massive improvers... but it also has the makings of a team struggling to hit 25 points on the road. Like you say, it could be brilliant but it could be awful at the same time. Time will tell!
  5. Move along, notthing to see here.......
  6. Just because Charles Wright is riding at 4, that doesn't mean he is 4th in the averages.... No Newport riders either!!
  7. This is perhaps the problem with the Internet and misinterpretation of how text should be read. My reply was supposed to be civil so apologies if you haven't taken it that way.
  8. I'm with you on this one - Aspegren was the first name I threw into the pot at the start of this thread as he is simply superb around Somerset. Having him at reserve or someone equal to would be brilliant. No problem - you asked the question so I gave my opinion.
  9. Plus he's useless. Next someone will be trying to sign Arlo Bugeja!
  10. Because he isn't as good as Zak Wajhisface, and doesn't have the potential to be.
  11. Very true - but if as expected it is Wilson Dean as the 'senior' reserve then he needs to at least hit assessed average and alot more for us to have a decent team in my opinion.
  12. I'd imagine that is their minimum figure, so anything above that remains as their average.
  13. Apologies Cliff - I assumed you meant Nielsen of the Stefan variety, as I often refer Kasper Lykke Nielsen to just Kasper Lykke. So I'm told - but it's one thing doing it in the NL and it's completely different doing it in the PL.
  14. Absolutely - a lot will depend on who your final rider is, whether it's someone who can hold their own at reserve or a Roland Benko sort of rider. The team assembled so far though looks pretty tidy, especially at home.
  15. You've got the wrong rider Cliff - Rye's reserve pairing is Lykke and Morley. Nielsen is yet to sign for anybody as far as I'm aware. IF that is to be our reserve pairing, it's very hard to judge. I'd like to think we would potentially have the best 3 pointer in the league but to a certain extent remains an unknown, especially at this level. Wilson-Dean was one of the top riders in the NL but I've never seen him ride and don't really know much about him at all - so again, hard to make an assumption on him also. Do we think he would be a better option to Aspegren? I'm not sure.
  16. That's an improvement on what Plymouth have been used to I suppose since joining the Premier League!
  17. Charles Wright is our asset, so we would get priority if there was a clash of dates anyway. I think this is pretty much on the money to be honest - although it'll be surprising not to see Kyle Howarth in the side.
  18. He has never missed a Somerset match to ride in Poland.
  19. Unfortunately Poole - so if he is in the team then lets hope there is less fixture clashes than when Nick Morris was at Swindon in his final season for us.
  20. He will more than do a job, but he isn't the prolific scorer that we have been spoilt with in the past like Zorro and Doyley.
  21. We have a decent history of Germans in the past, and on decent equipment he could do a job at reserve. He is never going to set the world alight but he is the sort of rider who would go out and beat a heat leader followed by a few 0's on the spin. I'd take that for a 3 pointer personally, especially as it would free up more points in the 1-5 for all round strength - especially as it looks like we aren't going to have an out and out number 1 for the first time since our early PL days. (Discounting Travis McGowan - who was signed as a no.1 but rode more like 6 year old on his first push bike) I'm not saying it's the best option, it's just one to consider.
