If at the start of the season, the BSPA had made a rule and said there is to be no missing meetings because of doubling up then I could understand their stance. As it is though, the fixtures get compiled and there is clashes after clashes, so they didn't care then - why care now all of a sudden??
-
So is it a coindence a PL promotor declined the move? Surely it's upto Peteborough to run their business as they see fit, and if they think having their no.1 missing for 3 meetings is acceptable that's upto them. Effectively the BSPA have made up a rule because the fans won't accept a rider missing. I sense that is just a excuse that barely scratches the surface.....
-
I don't think that would be the case, as he's assumed to be Poole's for the season after starting the season there. Craig Cook is available now
-
Interesting to know how to come to a decision on this - do they vote and the majority is the final decision? More than likely self interest and the Premier League promotors have voted no, one would assume. It'd be ironic if English voted no after trying to sign Lambert before and then being told no himself. Pathetic. What a truly shocking decision. Best interests of British Speedway, yeah right.....

Don't get me wrong I've seen far better meetings at Somerset, but this was still a good meeting which would probably be classed as excellent at the majority of other tracks in the league. Starke's 3rd to 1st up the inside in heat 12 was the pick of the bunch for entertainment value.
-
To be fair as bad as it might look that Ipswich was, I think it was more just how dominate Somerset was. Jake Allen's last place in heat 1 was the only last place the whole top 5 had all night. We are going to be very very difficult to beat at home it seems this year, Tungate has two maximums in a row now at the OTA including the Plymouth challenge match so he has it all Sussex pretty quickly. Add in Wilson Dean who looks superb and great entertainment too.
-
I don't think they did, apart from King in heat 1 and Castagna and 1 good ride by Sargeant to hold off Allen they were very poor. Obviously with King the score would of been closer but it still would of been a right hiding. Don't forget it was looking like a 5-1 at the time when King plowed into the back straight fence too.

Rebels by 10...

Somerset just need to make sure in the next few weeks we win our home meetings. We have barely ridden at home it seems so tonight will be a big test with Ipswich in town.

What a performance and what a result this is for the Rebels. I think this will make people sit up and take notice of us for sure. Charles Wright has been sensational this year so far for us and Swindon, and still a lot to offer from Starke to come we have a mighty strong top 5 if Tungate can remain consistent. Wilson Dean has surprised many including myself and looks a very handy reserve. I feel for Zack and I'm sure in the coming weeks he will soon be banging on the points that many expected of him at the start of the year. Sublime from Grajczonek and Allen too. -
I hadn't even seen that until you posted that, I just assumed we had a league match this week but obviously not.
-
What is there to talk about? It's nearly the end of April and so far we've only had one official home match, because of the weather and Plymouth's Hokey Cokey situation.
-
Exactly - the costs to get in at Somerset is now £15, plus £1 to park and £2.50 if you want a programme. That's alot of money week in week out. It's no wonder teams like Eastbourne, Mildenhall, Stoke etc etc dropped down to the NL and have stayed there ever since. Completely different. The example you've given is pitching a speedway event to speedway fans. Pitching speedway as a sport to Joe Bloggs off the street who has never been before is something completely different!

Tactical Ride - Premier League Cup
Najjer replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Technically no rules were broken, so I see no reason as to why it should. It's bloody stupid having double points in one competition and not in the next though! It either has to be all or nothing! -

I wasn't there, but from that view point you give the impression that nobody can overtake as they might get in the way a little bit. We should of had Starke and no idea where Gjedde was for Plymouth. Apparently TRs are allowed but somebody just cocked up the rule book and haven't bothered to update it! -

Our match against Plymouth was only a Challenge match, not an official fixture. -

Wilson-Dean was good value on Friday too - A pleasent surprise so far as I didn't think he would live upto much at PL level. He's certainly got something about him though. So looks like we're going to be running pre-season group matches probably well into the summer then.... -

I don't even know where to begin with that... You apologise to SCB for saying that and then immediately go on to deny saying it! Do you actually believe the $hit that you come out with? -

What a ridiculous statement that is. Rye House seem to be the ones who have followed the rules so far.
