Scott Nicholls In The Gps
TigerWolf replied to Paula's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Presumably it's fantastic entertainment for you if Scott Nicholls finishes nowhere? Hope he ruins your weekend with a good display tomorrow night anyway. COME ON BOMBER AND SCOTTIE! Glenn -
Scott Nicholls In The Gps
TigerWolf replied to Paula's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I honestly believe he will finish in an automatically qualifying position for 2008 this season. Anyway, If he's offered the place, why should he refuse and sit at home watching on the TV like the rest of us? It seems your problem should be more with the promoters than with the individual riders. Aside from getting to compete with the best riders in the world it must be worth plenty of sponsorship money to him as well. He's not likely to refuse is he? -

You seem an intelligent (if misguided!) person but do you really think Sky would be so bothered about screening live coverage of SGP if there were no British rider involvement? It's not a case of the series 'needing' Scott but what it does need is British involvement to continue to build its profile in the UK which must be one of the key markets for the SGP 'product'. British riders in the series mean more column inches in the press, more tickets sold for Cardiff and more interest from broadcasters. Simple business economics really. As others have said, isn't it time to cut out this 'beggar' crap anyway? Unless you're 14 years old or something you really ought to grow up a little. Glenn -
2007 Line Up - Any Thoughts
TigerWolf replied to NJT's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I agree. Nicholls is unlikely to finish in the top 8 now but will be a nailed on nomination. The thing is, people still fail to see that speedway is ultimately a business which needs to look after it's customers. Its main customers are in Sweden, Poland and UK (both paying customers at the events and TV companies). It isn't in BSI's (and in turn, speedway's) interests to not have good rider representation of those countries as it becomes more difficult to sell tickets for the events and more difficult to for TV companies to 'sell' their coverage to non-speedway fans (if you think about the way Sky pitch it, it's in the vein of 'British riders vs. The World). BSI must get a bit sick of Denmark consistantly churning out good riders as they are taking up valuable places in the series that could be filled with more commercially valuable Brits, Poles and Swedes! -

Do you ride motorbikes? I suspect not as if you did you'd have a bit more understanding of how close to a nasty injury Nicholls was last night thanks to 'The Great One' as he is seemingly portrayed by many on here. Why should he shake the idiots hand? THere was nothing wrong with Scott's move on The Great One (nothing at all, watch it again). I, for one, applaud the determination of riders like Scott to not let bullying, dangerous riding by the likes of Andersen and Pedersen get the better of them and I hope we see more of the same from Team GB on Saturday. Cheer for The Danes if you want - i'm sure they'll be plenty on here who could lend you a flag for you to wave on Saturday as this forum seems to be full of apparently British fans supporting every other nation in speedway except GB! Fair enough! I'll shut up now. -

So a rider can't have an opinion unless he's won a GP? Also, why is Andersen a legend exactly? And finally, Panthersfan, do you think Hans Andersen actually cares about Peterborough Panthers? He's just another foreign speedway rider racing in Britain to earn a few quid. Simple as that. Don't kid yourself he's in love with anytihng other than himself. Get your unoin jacks out and support team GB for christ's sake! -

Nicholls refused his handshake and what's wrong with that? Andersen was his usual 'no prisoners' self and I wouldn't shake his hand either. His throat, maybe -

I get sick of reading on here about how great he is. The man is a complete tosser like his friend Mr Pedersen. -
Wasn't it Anderosn who rolled the throttle off in an international event to let a swede beat him and England miss out as a result? Didn't he also call someone a ****er on Sky sports when asked a question about a 'racing incident' on Sky? Can't remember the details. This is agenuine question - I think it was Hans but I guess I could be wrong. Glenn

Cardiff Betting
TigerWolf replied to youngy105's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
66-1 Is that to win a race ? Not bad odds if it is. I'll be cheering the brits on tonight but there is simply no way on current form Rico will get anywhere near the final. -
Cardiff Attendance
TigerWolf replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Thanks for the advice. I have plenty of ear plugs 'in stock' for normal bike riding, so i'll make sure we take some. Does anyone know if theere's any bike parking at the stadium? -

My first trip there this year. Taking the whole family too. My youngest is only 1 so I dare say she might find it a bit loud! It can't be louder than the Honda Six racing around at The Thundersprint in Northwich a few weeks ago surely? She put up with that, just... She didnn't seem bothered by the bike noise at Monmore when we took her there so fingers crossed..... Weather is forecast to be hot and sunny so should be a top day out. Glenn -
His 1st exlcusion was a joke. Pure and simple. I tihnk his 2nd was justifyable and his 3rd was a nailed on exclusion. Sky chased him because he's the world champ. The fact is whether it's fair or not, NP will get stick for any race where an incident occurs that he's involved in simply becuase he has got 'form' for it. Incidents seem to follow him around - including tonight. Don't get me wrong, Nikki is good for the sport from a publicity and on the terraces point of view because he polarises opinion but, at the politest, he's a hard rider. He's the modern day Kenny Carter - fiercly competitive but will stick you in the fence if he gets the chance.

That's cos he's an asshole ! ;-)

Much of my opinions re: Crumpy and tonight have been voiced already - obvisouly he is going to be upset at the night he had but of the 3 exlcusions, the last 2 were right in my view (even if the first was a disgrace) and he should feel frustrated at himself rather than blaming his bad night entirely on the ref. I have to confess to not exactly being a big Nikki Ped fan but at least, after an equally bad night, he was big enough to give Sky an interview (even if he talked crap during it) rather than picking up his kitbag and crying off like JC did. I remember a GP from abroad somewhere a year or so ago where Crumpy had a poor night and was caight of camera sat in a corner somewhere, he looked up and saw the camera before 'flicking the vees' at the camera. These aussies - they don't like it up em do they? ;-) p.s. Shame Scottie coudln't quite do it tonight- he even crashed simply from trying to hard in the semi, when rolling off the throttle a bit would have kept him on the bike. Hard luck fella. I'm sure he'll be back.
