I'm hoping that Steve Turner will bring the one he made for the British Final last year. If he does, look out for 20 of the forum family waving madly on the middle tier on bend 1. -
Are you psychic? I've just spent 10 minutes searching the TV listings for this. Sometimes CH4 put the highlights on two weeks after the meeting, but I can't find a listing for next Saturday anywhere.
-
Well said 21ch. Perhaps we should start a new thread called, "The most naturally gifted poster". You'd be in my shortlist after that contribution.
-
I'll try and find my programme from this meeting and give you the full story. I remember writing a report on it and thinking I didn't want to go to speedway anymore. But then I was a hot headed youngster back then. No, he's called Eric. Unless Nigel really is making a very rare visit to England.
-
Who could. He single handedly caused the whole Coventry team (except Nigel Boocock) to walk out of a league match at Blackbird road.
-
Do you think we could sneak into Blackbird Road and knock down a few houses to make way for a new stadium? You know I've gone through Coventry/Cradley, Coventry/Wolves and even a bit of Coventry/Birmingham. But there will never be a rivally like Coventry/Leicester. I bet if Ray (Wilson) could be pursuaded to manage a side in Leicester, Nigel (Boocock) would come back from Oz.
-
Well I'd buy an advance ticket just on the off chance you might run this meeing again. The very best of luck on this and your other ventures.
-
How would it be if Wimbledon ran this meeting now? The alternative World Championship for the many lovers of the one off finals. I wonder how many people would turn out to see that one? An interesting experiment?

I heard that Tony had, appropriately, switched to Classic FM. -
Neil Collins is the only one I know who has always worn one and is still riding.

Don't worry Sir L. I've been posting the odd pic (*) for a while now and I think I got away with it. Track extension? Crickey, I've raced on smaller grasstrack circuits. (*) So who's going to have fun with this then? -
One for leicester fans - hope its not too depressing

I used to make the trip to Blackbird Road every Tuesday when I was at University up the road in Loughborough in the 70's. Two of us used to travel on the Loughborough Speedway Supporters coach and we'd support the opposition every week. How many sports could you do that in and get away with it? -

There will more GP's. Sorry to be boring but your education will stand you in good stead. Believe me, I know. -

Come on CHK, I thought I had exclusive rights on talking to myself. 8) Really Fd? :? -
I've tried more than once to find about the history of speedway in Dublin. I bought a small poster in the 70's advertising speedway there but it doesn't say when or who rode etc. Come on Norbold, here's another book idea I've set up for you.

And "Follow him" is right. If Ray was riding, Soldier Boy was sure to be there, shouting very loudly at the starting gate. If memory serves he did, after Ray Wilson retired, switch allegiance to Ole Olsen for a while.
-
But if you're right, it was your idea, eh?
-
They did publish an A-Z of riders which was later republished on the official website. A summary of this still exists there, although they've removed the short paragraph which accompanied each entry for some reason. A to Z of Bees Riders 1929-2002 There is also some personal recollections. Memory Lane

Yes to both questions. A tragic story.

Berwick, north of the border?
-
A "few" years ago the USA were so short of riders during a tour that one of their mechanics turned out for their national side in a test over here.
-
Don't panic folks, the block booking tickets arrived on Saturday while I was at the training track. I'll be in touch over the next few days to arrange to get them to you.
-
Okay, I'll give it a shot. It starts off by saying what I did was stunning (or great). I think there's something about it being wrong or not quite right (big surprise). Then there something about writing in Polish as opposed to English. I'm not sure what "dziekuje" means but there is something about saluting or congratulating something. And finally we have a reference to Rospigana and Ipswich (but you knew that! ). See. It's as clear as mud. 8)

Welcome to our forum. Please stay. Obviously I can't really speak Polish False dawn
