Where do you find this stuff? It's amazing that you have/find heat details including times from this era. I am suitably impressed.

An insightful and intelligent analysis not previously demonstrated. You could be right. But then... -

That's the Bomber who asked for a transfer before we knew we weren't running this year is it? -

So you care enough to go and knock it. But not enough to go and say thank you for the effort of the many behind the scenes not to mention the riders who put themselves on the line for challenge matches. I despair and hope sincerely that those working so hard to keep the Bees alive don't read this. Hang your heads in shame. -

Imagine the alternative. No Bees matches whatsoever. Come on people. Not every match will be a classic. But that's always been true. Not every rider will be fit or available. But that's also always been true. There are people working very hard to get these meetings on and keep the Bees name alive. They deserve a large vote of thanks and our support. There were a lot of Bees fans and Wolves fans there last night. Now we can look forward to going south and beating Poole and a trip to Rye to see more than 7 Bees riders in the same meeting! -
Yes indeed. The Dutch authorities refused to licence anyone to race 1000cc sidecars. They class it to be too dangerous. So Roel took out a German licence (I rode as normal on my ACU licence). When the FIM Gold Trophy was launched Germany were granted a place in the final. We went through the German qualifiers and made it to the final three times (IOW, Wayville in Adelaide and Kings Lynn). Oh alright, we were the only 1000cc team riding on a German licence so we were seeded to the final. But I did ride in an FIM world championship final three times. They can't take that away from me (cue a song!).

Josh is definitely a rising star. I look forward to seeing him ride so this is a disappointment. -

Where has that been posted? Not on Coventry or Wolverhampton website. -
I enjoyed this match. I've attended many Leicester matches in my time (mostly at Blackbird Road) and without exception have shouted for the opposition. Such has been the rivalry between Coventry and Leicester over the years. But last night was different. I turned up as a neutral. Frankly I expected Swindon to win. But I just wanted to see some good racing, hopefully exciting. Well I was surprised. It was interesting that the riders rode the first and second bends as though the track hadn't been changed. At least in the early heats. But then, a few competitors started to try the narrow line into the first bend. For sure it was a hard turn into the corner but some found a fast way round that way. Enough to suggest there were at least two ways round that end of the circuit. Anyway, well done Leicester (even if you did have to rely on a couple of Coventry loanees!).

If someone is willing to pack up his life in suitcase and come halfway round the World on the back of his own self belief, who are we to deny him a chance. If you want to stop foreign imports, spend the money and develop home grown talent. We have youngsters who can do as well, just not as early. Arriving on the scene with a chance of success at 15 or 16 is not good enough. We have to invest in our youth and make it possible for them to be team players earlier. Otherwise the Aussies and half of Scandinavia and Poland will still find team berths for their lads (and lasses?) over here.

We only said Leicester could borrow one or two of our riders. Anything to help out a struggling neighbour, eh?

I recall John Louis writing in the Speedway Express how we should stop all the tape charging we saw in the 70's. He proposed that we adopt the motocross rule that banned tape touching. This was, as we all know, adopted some years later and you should have heard the outcry. There were riders in that first year of the new rules that said it had ruined the sport forever. But, pretty soon, riders learned to sit still and not touch the tapes and we entered a much fairer era of starting procedure. There have always been the "good gaters" but how often have your riders (never the opposition's) made the "perfect" start only to pulled back? We even have the daft situation where a rider can make a brilliant getaway and catch his head on the tapes. Allowed in the current rules, I understand, but physically impossible if you do the maths. The technology is available and at little cost. There are no tapes in F1. The start is on lights and is, as some have suggested here, based on a random time delay. Make a lightning start that defies the laws of physics and we don't need a ref to judge if it was unfair, the electronics will tell us, put on the red lights and identify the offender. Rocket science it ain't. Costly? No. Fair? You bet.

Peterborough V Coventry Challenge 19th Match 12pm
False dawn replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Don't know who was being interviewed but he was saying that the circuit could be brought back to racing fitness in 2 to 3 weeks. The stand may need to be roped off (suggesting more damage). But if there was a willingness we could be racing at Brandon this year. -
Peterborough V Coventry Challenge 19th Match 12pm

Oooo I hope you say the same when we come to Wimborne Road and beat you on April 19th! Please, please, people, stop moaning about the queues (not good I accept), the food (I wouldn't buy it either), the downbeat interviews (I don't like PY much either), the long delay before heat 15 (completely unacceptable), and the 3 only in heat 15 (a silly end to a good days racing). The Peterborough promotion hosted us for a meeting we had no right to expect. They were gracious and appreciative of the turn out when we gathered for pictures on the back straight at the end of the meeting. Did you not enjoy seeing riders in a Bees race jacket (thank you NSSC)? Are you not happy that there are folks trying to keep the team alive, get us bsck on track for 2018 and maybe, just maybe racing at Brandon this year (as we heard in interview if you listened carefully)? Suspend your normal assessment of meetings for a while. There are a lot of folks working very hard to give us a few Bees meetings and just a glimmer of hope for the future. Be bloody grateful for what we have, please. -
Peterborough V Coventry Challenge 19th Match 12pm

Oo I don't know. I'm having to hide in the shade just now, to avoid too much sun. Still it is the Bees and my boy Lenny might be pleased to see me and it is Colin's birthday. Alright, I'll see you on the back straight Yeh. I've heard he's bringing his own shale! -

Now look. We're flying home from some very good Spanish sun for this meeting. The weather better be good! Lol -
Interesting. Is there a public record of this trade off?Of course, now, negotiations as per the planning application start over. Unless someone else takes up the running of speedway at Brandon. BE's stance is, given the above, somewhat clear. Mick Horton's stance is, maybe, clear in that, despite the financial support offered, he was not prepared to take up the offer of running speedway when it required him to restore the stadium. People should not confuss his £200K paid for the speedway rights with anything to do with the stadium. His expectation was a business with certain financial support and income. He then had to consider that same business with the considable additinal cost of fixing the stadium. Mr Sandhu's stance is less clear. If he still has expectations (prior to restoring the stadium), we would be pleased to consider them and support them if appropriate. Any of the parties referred to above, care to comment?

OK I'm a simple soul. If I'd paid £2.7M for a piece of land, would I pay someone else to use it? I heard on the video from last Friday that Brandon Estates had deposited £50K in a bank under an escrow agreement as the first payment of a total of £200K to Mick Horton as part of his lease agreement. Someone else has posted that Brandon Estates were giving Mick Horton £240K over 3 years. Either way, what gives? Brandon Estates ain't a charity

So the argument that the BSPA let Coventry go adrift when BV was assured of running because we needed 8 teams in the top division to keep SKY was, like most postings, pure speculation. SKY were leaving anyway.

Some one mentioned building a care home. Trust me, this could be a great investment on a very small corner of this plot. The going rate for care home residents is £1000 a week. A health centre and gym. Now there's an idea. A nursery. A garden centre. Now let me see. How much of the total land have I used? Not a lot. How much revenue have I generated? Now that looks good. And I've still got a stadium and almost as much car parking as when I started. Just imagine.... Oh I forgot. No houses!
-
So share the evidence with the rest of us. I'm not having a go at you. I just want to proceed from a basis of fact. We've had hints and unsubstantiated proclamations to last a life time.
-
If you have the evidence, present it. Sandhu is really Brandon Estates is a good conspiracy theory. I might like to believe it. But the evidence that I have been able to uncover proves that both Sandhu and Brandon Estates are good at covering their tracks. The fact that they have that in common does not make them one and the same company.

Save Coventry Bees Campaign (dont Give Up)
False dawn replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
This is the most worthwhile of causes. I want the Bees back as much as anyone. Be careful people, please. Let's not take sides just yet till ALL the facts are known. Conclusions are not accurate just because someone proclaims them as the truth. The experience so far is that the people who really know what's going on, are the ones who are saying the least. -
True. But then we have.... Mick Horton now hiding behind, "I'm taking legal advice" Sandhu, errr Brandon Estates, a bigger errr No one else actually knows anything worth talking about with the possible exception of Michael Stokes. It wold be nice if someone would just be honest with us. It can't get any worse than it is. It is surely no worse than has been imagined on here and elsewhere.
