Leicester Lion Cubs vs B.V. Colts 14 May 2022
False dawn replied to PowerfulPierre's topic in National League Speedway
He lost his bikes and all his equipment in a fire. I guess that might have something to do with it. -

That doesn't look like an S before the DAYS as it would be if it was Leicester. -
You want to actually read the rules. Then you'd know what boring really is.

Riders ...under power, racing or not?
False dawn replied to IronScorpion's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
To be honest, the issue of whether the regulations rule on this subject is rather academic. However, I think that riders who give up when they are last, are universally disliked by fans. I've took to putting CBA in my programmes (couldn't be *****). It's clear that the only way to cut out this habit of not racing to the flag is for team managers to kick a few behinds. -
And we could the programme over in half the time!

I think that most fans realise that promotions have to take a commercial decision around the number ambulances and paramedics to have in attendance at matches. The risks around this decision have, however, become much worse due to the difficulties being experienced by the NHS ambulance service. But taking a risk of keeping costs to a minimum and possibly not completing a meeting is one thing. Instituting the BSPL guidelines to the letter and charging fans £10 for the two completed heats at the recent Birmingham meeting, is quite another. This will have a very serious effect on the fans directly affected and their future attendance. But, I would suggest, the average fan will view these events with some disdain and their sense of fairness and justice may affect their future attendance at Birmingham meetings. I've certainly had pause for thought about travelling to Birmingham to see my local team. Birmingham have missed a trick. Had they apologised and then appealed to fans to make the retention of the £10 somehow voluntary, to cover costs, there would have been a much more positive response.

Leicester Lions v Redcar Bears 30/4/22

Nah. He's all at sea. -
It's slightly strange that Belle Vue announced that Matej had been signed on Monday and there has been no news of this (including in the weekly round-up) or a new team declaration on the BSPL website.

The story I heard was that Sam helped to peg out the design and then went to the US for a visit. When he came back, the layout had be altered to what we have today and he said he wanted nothing further to do with the project. The design remained, so Sam did not. -
Probably not getting any takers because it's the wrong number plate Seriously, sort of, I'm reminded of the chap who puts a perfectly good fridge on his front lawn with a sign saying free to a good home. After a week he'd had no takers. A mate offered some advice and as a result he changed the sign to say £50. The next morning the fridge had gone.

Oxford v Poole 20/4/22

I know you are joking. But don't write off Scotty just yet. Once he's got his shirts sorted for the GP punditry, he get his mind back on racing for a living. -

Nothing new there then. -
The defence will be, "under the standard BSP Ltd policy for abandoned meetings". I don't know chapter and verse on this policy but any ruling that says it's okay to charge £10 for two races needs ripping up and rewriting. Surely, there has to be some sense of fairness inherent in any rule covering such eventualities. I know the rule is based on the number of races seen, but even under the old rules, it was recognised that until you got to heat 7, no meaningful meeting had taken place. Look at this way, let's say there were 1000 fans there. The temptation to scrape through two races is enormous in that the promotion save £10,000. I know that's not what happened in this case, but it does demonstrate how nonsensical this ruling is.

Not so, sorry. I took my daughter to Brandon when she was 11 days old.

Very sad indeed. A true enthusiast. RIP

Oxford v Scunthorpe 13.04.22
False dawn replied to Hilly's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Given that this meeting has been completely sold out for a while now, you'd have thought it was perfect for streaming. No potential loss to the live audience and a chance for others to witness an historic reopening. I don't know if there is a stream but if I had to guess.... -
I am definitely a speedway fan first and a Bees fan second (just). Hence why I'm doing missionary work over in Leicester while the madness surrounding Brandon is sorted out.

They use a 6 pair format in the European Best Pairs Competition which was last run in 2018, I think.

I think any rider showing complacency in a team managed by Stuart Dixon will get his a**e kicked. -
BERWICK v OXFORD (NDL) Saturday, April 9th (7pm)
False dawn replied to crescent girl's topic in National League Speedway
That's exactly right. It's a development league that gives riders track time in a competitive environment. Jason Crump was the guest speaker at the Nuneaton Speedway Supporters Club last Thursday and he said that British Speedway has the best strength in depth that it's had for many years. Click here -
