  1. It's not just Steve, he has an issue with all things Wolves for some unknown reason.
  2. Appropriate note of caution, but pleased with the start.
  3. Pusey as good as Carter? Are you serious? You say he was the best rider but then follow it up by saying there were some who were equal or better ! Illogical Captain !
  4. Think nothing of it UE, he is the prime supplier of tosh on the forum..............................that's his job!
  5. At Wolves one of the things that George is supposed to have said was......................always try and make your pass on the third bend at Monmore on the inside. From the referees viewpoint he cannot tell if there was any contact and so if the rider on the outside fell off the referee would automatically have to exclude him.
  6. Bottom line is, it was an exceedingly poor performance by the riders and there is nothing Lynch, or Middleditch, could have done about it on the night. As a Wolves fan my worry is about the pressure now being put on Woffinden's head due to the inadequacies of others. How many other 17 year old's have been expected to be the saviour of their country !
  7. Hi everyone. I am posting this request on behalf of a Wolves fan who is an avid resercher into Wolves history. He requires the heat details from the following:- Long Eaton 56 v Wasps 26 (challenge) 31st May 1951 Long Eaton 52 v Wasps 31 (challenge) 31st July 1952 I believe these are the ONLY details he is missing. As you can imagine if you can help, he will be overjoyed. Thanks Beowulf
  8. I don't disagree with that, but then that's why I mentioned the WU21 where he has beaten better riders.
  9. Firstly, the thread is about Hefenbrock so I've stuck to it! Anyway, very few threads do not veer off at a tangent at some point. Thirdly, I made my comment to put you comment into perspective. Comprehende? I would suggest that this yam's yam's grasp of grammar is better than your's, you flea.
  10. Funnily enough, I agree with keeping Hefenbrock over Smolinski. There is not a lot of difference in their averages, but this Smolinski's second year. Schevchenko, He didn't has much to beat here you say, but what about the World Under 21 final when he finished 3rd?
  11. Yes I am thank you. He's had a good debut season, he's upped his starting average, and finished third in the World 21 final in addition to the above title. He's tailed off in the last few weeks probaly due to the virus he had and fatigue, but overall a success. More to come methinks.
  12. I'm still waiting for that 650 to blow to smithereens.
  13. Christian Hefenbrock has won his national title. He scored a maximum 15 points in the qualifying heats and then won the final where Martin Smolinski had engine failure. Going back to the pre season review in the Speedway star Peter Oakes said that Smolinski was a "much better quality rider" than Hefenbrock. Of course Peter, of course.
  14. I am very happy with Cardiff, and I don't see why it should go anywhere else. Those of us with long memories will know that speedway was ousted from Wembley due to the FA signing an exclusive agreement. Therefore, presumably, they don't want us there, and as far as I am concerned the feeling is mutual.
  15. As a Wolves fan present at the meeting, you don't know many fingers, toes, etc. I had crossed for Mauger to win.
  16. As a supporter, you do not have to justify why you like or dislike a rider. You pay your money, you are entitled to an opinion.
  17. Anyone remember Steve Lucero (Eastbourne and Wolves ) and Robert Pfetzing (Wolves and Bradford) ?
  18. I remember reading about in the 1970 World Final ( I think at Wroclaw). In the race was Ivan Mauger and two poles. Hedge got injured at some point in the meeting (may have the first running of that race). He wasn't going to ride in the rerun. He would then have been replaced by a reserve, another Pole, so Ivan would have been up against three Poles. So Hedge went to the tapes and tootled round at the back, thus helping Ivan towards his title.
  19. Well my first question is, which one are you Norman! As to the former rider, it looks like Bert Harkins, but I don't think he ever rode for Leicester. So over to the Leicester experts................
  20. With all due respect to Zager, the principle of selecting riders for the GP stinks.
  21. Swiss Position, You have highlighted a problem, although it is not a new one. Some facilties are awful. Any male used the men's on the back straight at Swindon? Dark ages doesn't descibe it adequately enough. However, the resolution to this problem does not lie in the hands of the promoters. The only ones who are capable of doing anything about it are those promoters that own their own stadiums. In the EL, I make that Coventry and Eastbourne. In the PL, I have no idea, maybe King's Lynn? Back in 1996, the owners of Monmore Green wanted to change the greyhound track. We were very close to losing the speedway altogether. Sometimes these things are simply out of your hands.
  22. For a second there I thought you were talking about Guiseppe Marzotto!
