Coventry Bees V Belle Vue Aces 27/05/2016
Beowulf replied to Woz01's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
In two meetings at Brandon, Freddie has dropped just 1 point to Kasprzak (when he gated obviously), beating all of the Coventry riders along the way. Last Saturday at Leicester in heat 1 he broke the track record. So I would say you've got a very reasonable guest indeed. -
If And When Bomber Retires..............

As a Wolves fan I was extremely disappointed when Olsen left. I assumed at the time that we had a poor promotion in Parker and Bridgett, who wouldn't pay him what he wanted and also that he was sick of being in an unsuccessful team and having to carry virtually all of the burden. We came out very badly from the whole sorry mess as we obtained both Jim McMillan and Tommy Johanssen from Hull, the latter who never turned a wheel for us and we used rider replacement for him all year! Whilst Jim was a lovely guy, he couldn't replace Olsen who was world champion at the time. Despite the manner of his leaving, Olsen is easily in my Wolves all time top 7. -
I thought heat 14 was terrific with Thorssell and Masters passing Wozniak at the same time.

Coventry V Wolves Monday 9th May
Beowulf replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I am surprised that Woryna is riding. I saw the photographs of his injury, and it was utterly horrific. Speedway riders are a crazy bunch, and usually come back from injury far too quickly. I really hope that Woryna is in a fit state to ride and doesn't aggravate his injury. The weather is perfect so looking forward to a good meeting. -

When you find out, let us know! Is it anything to do with this squad thingmejig ? I shall be attending tomorrow, my first away match in approx 5 years to sadly say bye to Brandon, so thanks to Mick for the reduced price! -

Poole V Wolves Ela 4/5/16

If either team lose it's not exactly a disaster. A complete season to eliminate 4 teams out of 8. A bit of joke really. Oh for the 70' s with a league of 19 teams. -

If it's the one I'm thinking of it has a shelf at the back of the shop where you add your own salt and vinegar in whatever proportion you like. As I worked my down the packet I would go back for more s&v. Great. Mind you that was over 20 years ago ! -

Monumental effort ? We are a team who were predicted to finish 5th in the speedway star poll of polls. We've ridden ONE home match so far and beat a team that was predicted to finish below us. We have 4 riders for whom Monmore is a brand new home track, and therefore it may be some before home track advantage is restored. Granted we have started fine, but may well have caught Coventry and Swindon on the hop early on. I hope for a home win on Monday but it will be tough against the favourites. -
Brilliant.
-
We will find out soon enough, Poole are next up at Monmore and they should have a definite advantage in the reserve department.

Really pleased with the performance of Masters last night. I don't expect that every week, so will just take it as a bonus at the moment. Only slight concern so far is Clegg, who appears to be a little out of his depth. He was the one I was worried about when the team was announced. One of the curiosities from last night was that apart from Clegg every rider won a heat. Conversely apart from Masters, everyone had a last place ! Also for Monmore I felt the racing wasn't quite up to normal standard in terms of passing.
-
Well that didn't last long ! The official site says the first set of rolling averages are out, so Freddie returns to the no 1 slot. Klymakorpi to 5 and Bech to 4. Sort of looks better balanced.

OAP's may well have more assets than younger people but not necessarily more disposable income. However, perhaps you could give me a link to these reports, I would certainly be interested in reading them.
-
I hope that when you are an OAP, you are not counting every penny......................................................... However, using the reverse argument if the admission is only £3 less then the promotion aren't going to miss it then are they ?

Swindon - Wolves 7.4.16 Meeting Off
Beowulf replied to A ORLOV's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
With only one meeting under our belts, there is no form guide to refer to. I tend to agree with your view and would be pleased with a point. -
Pretty blinkered view about OAP's. When people reach that point generally they have less money than at any other point in their lives. From the promotions point of view, surely it is better to have some money off them than none at all. Having a larger crowd present adds to the atmosphere.I have followed my team since 1967, soon that will be 50 years. When I reach that stage would you prefer me to sit at home, because it was too expensive for me ?

Wolves - Swindon 4/4/16 Rained Off
Beowulf replied to A ORLOV's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I work in the city centre less than 2 miles from the stadium. It rained at lunchtime, giving the ground good soaking, leaving standing water in the road. However, it did not rain again, and by 5.00 ish the water had dried out and even the sun had a made a few fleeting appearances. I went home, and I live less than a mile from the stadium. At that point I could see no reason why the meeting wouldn't go ahead. Sadly, the rain set in and that, as they say was that. There was no way that the meeting should have been called of any earlier than say 5:30. As Shale Searcher says, just unlucky. -
Fair enough. And has that been specified explicitly so that students know what the rules are ?
-
And what is your proof/evidence of this ?
