Witches v wolves 28th June, TV meeting
Beowulf replied to Badge's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Could it be 2 complete sides ? It has been mentioned that both Crump and Schlein are returning to action. -
Which is why it is unfair to compare it to other venues, such as Monmore, who have many restrictions to live with.
-
I wasn't trying to be a smart arse and strangely the original recipient of the post ScoobyDoo didn't seem to take it as badly as you. Personally, the use of "should of" drives me insane. It is mainly used by younger people. it comes from should have being shortened to should've which indeed looks like "should of", so it is understandable. Anyway, to keep you happy it won't be mentioned again. Okay ?
-
"Should have" not should of. Think of it logically, if you can already ride a particular type then you should ride a type that is not natural to you to improve your all round ability.
-
What has that got to to do with speedway ? Weirdo.
-
Ever thought about being a stand up comedian ? I think you said the same thing before your home match against Belle Vue, how did that turn out ? However, using R/R and a guest at no 7 is not ideal for Wolves, so I do expect a home win.
-
Because ?
-
Thanks for the assessment.

Unfortunately Tom has not scored very much at all so far. Presumably he himself felt that there wasn't much chance of an improvement in the short term, hence the retirement. I have no idea who we can get as a replacement, but we cant expect him to be any better than Tom or we would have signed him in the first place !

I remember Sam Ermolenko's comment about Ipswich " I love that little track" . I think the points he used to score bears that out ! -
At Monmore I used to stand to next to a Belle Vue fan who lived in Stoke, so it was easy to get to both tracks. When Hyde Road was open he was able to enjoy racing at two very different tracks. When the Aces were at Kirky Lane, he preferred to come to Monmore. I don't see him any more so sadly I have to assume that he's passed away.

I imagine the rent for the stadium is not influenced by the fact that the back straight is closed.Anyway for the league title decider in 1993 with Belle Vue the crowd was reputedly 10,000. -

Of the 6 teams only Sheffield and Wolves run greyhounds. Therefore the speedway track is limited by the shape and size of the greyhound track. Accordingly there must be a big difference between the size of the Sheffield greyhound track and the Wolves one ! In other words the size of the speedway track at Monmore is outside the control of the speedway management. Back in 1996 whilst the greyhound track was being re-modelled we had to ride our 'home' leg of the KO Cup final at Long Eaton. When you are a tenant at a stadium you have to accept what the landlord does. It's a hell of a shame that Ladbrokes closed the back straight, which is where I first started watching my speedway. Obviously loss of viewing choice and atmosphere. Visiting fans complain about just the home straight being open, well I don't like it either! But I will accept these restrictions, track and stadium, in order to carry on watching my team. -

Worrying times. CVS and Adams have been in charge since 1984, a tremendously long period of stability whilst many other promotions have come and gone. Both of them very knowledgeable and experienced. Also not to underplay the part that the Parrys International sponsorship have played at Wolverhampton, the longest continuous sponsorship in the sport. Just hope for the sake of the sport that the government make the right decision. -

Yes, what we want is long track racing where the only determinant is how tuned the engine is and there is 50 yards between the first and fourth rider. Throttle control and the ability to turn the bike consigned to the past. Also let's dispense with variety, let's have homogenised identikit tracks. The way forward, yeah. -

I think that is a fair comment. I honestly cannot remember the last time I saw a blue groove. Obviously we have lost a lot with Doc Bridgett not being able to do the track prep. He was a master at it and won many track of the year awards and we've had brilliant racing. Therefore the shape is not the problem................ -

In days gone by Batchelor and Holder wouldn't have been considered a particular threat at Monmore Green. However in a watered down league they don't have Lindgren, Thorsell, Karlsson et al to face. Added to that Holder has improved somewhat. Wolves need all of their team on form to cover for Schlein. -
With captain Rory Schlein out injured (Glasgow Friday night) I presume Wolves will be using R/R. This should be a bonus for Sheffield. With due respect Tom Bacon isn't contributing too much at the moment. That means the remaining 5 riders all have to be on form for Wolves to get the league points. At least Rory is 2nd in the averages so all of the top 5 can take a ride. Hopefully still a Wolves win, if only a narrow one. For Sheffield which Batchelor will it be ?

It is now clear that Crump's accident was, unfortunately, a result of rider error. Would you now like to apologise for your biased, provocative and incorrect post ? -

Looks like heat 7 and 12 (from updates) cost us getting something out of the match. Nonetheless well done Tigers. Look forward to the return on Monday, in particular seeing Howarth again, enjoyed his stay with Wolves. -
