Dont worry about it. Go back to 1988. We had our team signed and sealed. Yet two unknown Aussies came over to try out for Poole. One was Mick Powell. Never signed for us but had an excellent career at Glasgow, etc. The other was Craig Boyce. Went on to become the clubs top points scorer in our history. Just because we may not have heard of them as such, doesnt mean they are automatically going to be poor. You just never know. Remain optimistic.

Ive seen List and Rew ride on the Continent. Both stylish and controlled. Thought Scunnys treatment of List last season was extremely harsh. Never gave him time to settle. I think Rew will be the better of the two. Exciting times if it is either or both of them. Not seen Keleher, but Rod Colquhoun speaks very highly of him.

Not at all happy with Havelock coming in. Never liked him as a rider and even less respect as a person.
-
His Dad! Michael Lee famously built a motor for him. All they had to do was adjust timings etc, as normal. His Dad decided to strip the engine down and put it back HIS way. The results told you all you needed to know.

I rate him too. Very good rider and great with the fans. If he fits the averages, then yes please.

I like what I see of our team so far. My wish for Christmas would be to sign Alfie Bowtell. I like him a lot. He does fall often, but that is because he tries too much at times. With a 3.10 average, I hope we can fit him in.

Oh dear, not impressed at all.

Jedd List is not riding. Kyle Bickley replaces him.

Some close racing at times. The Thompson boys showing their track knowledge and were good to watch. Ht5 they, along with Palin, were excellent. Very close for all 4 laps. Good race. Nasty tangle between Perks and Palin in Ht13. Hope he is ok. One big hole on entrance to turn one caused a fair few problems, the two holes on bend3 throwing riders all over the place. What I really dont get is why it was called off. Hume said over the mic that the rain was causing visibility problems and the track was very slippery. Yet at the Kent v Colts Play off the other week, the meeting started in far worse conditions and ran right through. Thankfully, the meeting at Belle Vue tomorrow is off anyway. Heard last night that Tuesday was the only available date to run this meeting.

Going to the First leg of this Final. Weather not looking too good for Friday, so will decide late Thursday if I travel. Supporting the Colts, of course.

Ive seen Friday 25th being mentioned over the weekend. The first time I saw or knew of anything about the first leg at Leicester was AFTER the test match announcement. It has only been added to both websites today. Utter madness to tell a young rider he is riding in his senior test match debut to then arrange another meeting where his club could be let down if he takes that booking. That should NEVER be put on his shoulders. BSPA and or SCB need to take stock of what they have done. Totally unfair on Kyle. Hoping to go to 2 of these 3 meetings, subject to work commitments.

The Pirates are MY team and always will be. Whatever League we race in, I will be there. Once Pirate fan, always a Pirate fan. No other team will ever come close. I have said to friends for at least 3 or 4 years the we are no more than a Championship side with perhaps just one stand out rider. This season has proved we are no more than that level. It has been a struggle to generate any enthusiasm for the 2019 team, tbh. I think lots of people feel the same. On the occasions that I have been to Wimborne Road you can quite clearly see the lack of crowds, also there is a poor atmosphere. I dont drink or smoke. I can however relate to a smoker trying to give it up. I am fed up with it all right now. Once the season starts again, I will be following the Pirates in what will be my 65th season!

So, who is allowed into the referees box once the meeting is underway? On Monday at Kent v Colts, I saw 4 or 5 different people in there at different times. Stadium owner Mr Cearns and Dave Jessup were two that I can name, dont know the others.

Somerset & Glasgow Semi Final Second Leg 2/10/19
BobC replied to Dickie Head's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Huge congratulations to the Tigers. A thoroughly deserved win. After the shock of Cookie losing out to Bomber and Rowe in Ht1,it was never an easy ride for Somerset after that. Razzers Ht13 ride to go round Bomber and inside Morris was fabulous. Both Kelvin and Nigel would have had a heart attack with the blistering speed. of it. Sensational ride. Despite 3 Tigers getting more warnings for starting than the local weather forecast, they never let the Rebels get away from them First time Ive seen Sam Jensen, very impressed. Now go finish the job and win the title. -
Glasgow v Somerset, play off 1st leg 27/9/19 @19-30
BobC replied to Paulco's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Great result for the Tigers,51-39. Better use of Bickley might have increased the lead? Hoping to be there for the return on Weds. Warning: dont get complacent, as Poole fan, I know only too well how things can quickly change. Mon the Tigers! -

Id like to know how you can hurt a toe, which is encased in boot which is also protected by a steel shoe. I said I was embarrassed at the time. Still am this morning. Karma came back and bit us on the backside. Justice. Ive said it before and happy to say it again, well done Ipswich. Fully deserved. -

Obvious what Poole were up to with Holder. Sorry folks, not happy with that. Poole need a miracle from somewhere, but I dont think we deserve it,tbh. -
Poole v Ipswich Play Off Semi 1st leg. 23/9/19

So funny reading this thread. When Ipswich were mauling Poole,it was a great meeting, yet largely gate n go. Poole start winning races and suddenly its poor meeting with all the gate n go! Me thinks a few folk starting gloating a little prematurely! -
Poole v Ipswich Play Off Semi 1st leg. 23/9/19

I would have happily taken a 10pt lead before the start. A touch disappointing it wasnt more now! Anything can happen in the meeting at Ipswich, but psychologically, advantage Poole.
