4tt Ipswich & Men In Black
BobC replied to Grim Reeper's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Here at Poole,we have raised funds to support our lads in this meeting. We even have a Main Sponsor,in Poole Bay Storage. Our team,as mentioned by Future, was made known to the promoters, nearly 3 weeks ago.Yet its only today that anyone has informed us about Kyle Newman being TOO OLD!! Rye House promotion,do your sums,he is 16,not 17. As I understand it,this meeting has always been for riders 16 or under, riding 500cc machines. So how come Kyle is banned? The BSPA say that rules are rules, and as he celebrated his birthday in the middle of December,he cannot ride. A couple of years ago,Ben Hopwood was OVER 15 at the start of the season, yet was allowed to ride in the UNDER 15's,going on to finish 2nd to Joe Haines. So,which rule book are they following?I could fully understand any protests if this was a World Championship,or Championship decider. Its not.Its a good workout for 16 year olds, trying to make their way in the sport. I had intended to go to this, but will not bother now. Our Academy lads have my full personal backing, and I wish them well on Thursday. Bloody jobsworths. -
Academy Meeting At Ipswich Aug 14th
BobC replied to jap4bs's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Well, the Poole team are ready. That, despite some underhand manouvres from a couple of the other promotions. I mean, banning 16 year old Kyle Newman for being too old.Bloody jobsworths. I was coming up to support our lads, but not now. -
I was there too,on the back straight, entering turn 3. Im on Michaneks side on this one.He and Sweden were robbed! My hero was,and still is Christer Lofqvist. He was sublime round Wembley. For me it was an almost perfect tournament.Great meetings all over the Country.I managed to get to 5 of them, plus the Final. Wonderful days.

Many Thanks Ian,much appreciated.

No he didnt! He was actually drawn to ride at Gorican. Australia,in their foresight, saw fit to ask for him to be swapped to Rye House. Thus avoiding this very scenario. As has been said, pathetic organising from the FIM.

All monies to our Academy riders fund. Best of luck to Dave tonight. He deserves to qualify,if effort means anything.

Here is the article in our local paper. http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/pir...f_faces_axe.php -
I agree with you Shazz. In the last 10 years or so,there WAS a rule about staying in your lane for a certain distance from the start. Im pretty sure it was used in all Leagues here.It was defintiely used in the Elite/Top League. I cant remember the dates, however,I do know it existed, but was withdrawn after a couple of seasons.
-
I dont think it was a cheer for him falling.I personally dont cheer for any rider falling,World Champ or complete novice. However,I do understand the irony of it all.Cheating his way to the Final and then falling. To me it was for his 'professional fouls' in getting Leigh and Bjarne excluded. Yes,I honestly believe he knew what he was doing in those races.

Makes Flint,(Somerset last night) look like an complete amateur. Adams deserves a medal for not going up and lumping the idiot. We can only hope the FIM will change their minds about allowing him to take control of 2 more GP's this season. -
Oddly enough, the referee did exactly that while he studied the Doyle/Madsen incident in the Somerset vs Reading meeting earlier in the season. That meeting was held up for 10 minutes or so while he studied the evidence.
-
Congratulations to Workington. As far as the referee goes,Im with Subedei all the way.His ego is bigger than he is,and he isnt slim. Also,I am more than happy to accept Lucifer Sams version of events.I consider Rob to one of the few on here to 'tell it as it is,worts and all'. Thanks or the pics,IDH Shame I missed what sounds like a cracking meeting.

Sadly, not the Firs. The action is from Wimbledon.
