  1. Beautiful day here in Torquay, 30 miles away. Absolute scorcher! I am going to be cheering for home favourite, Henry Atkins, although I think it will be a big ask. Double figures would be a massive result. I will be watching Jenkins closely for my Mildenhall friends. Still think its between JPB, Bewley, ZachW and dont discount Greaves, easily the most experienced rider in the field. Smith is likely to take points off others too. Good luck to all the lads, have a hard but safe meeting.
  2. Was announced at last weeks meeting that there are 22 races,So that means a semi final and Final. A bargain at just £10 too! Really looking forward to this. Zach looked good for Swindon a few weeks ago. JPB also looked good last week. Bewley has been in fine form all season and can handle small tracks, as has been said, rode at Edinburgh last season. Have had rave reports from my friends at Mildenhall regarding Jenkins, although Ive not seen him ride yet. Dont think he has ridden at SBA yet either. Dont discount Greaves, Brennan or even our own Henry Atkins. All capable of beating each other, so for me its wide open. Copied and paste from the Devils Forum. The draw is... 1) Dan Bewley, 2) Jordan Jenkins, 3) Callum Walker, 4) Luke Harris, 5) Kyle Bickley, 6) Jack Parkinson Blackburn, 7) Luke Woodhull, 8) Nathan Greaves, 9) Jamie Halder, 10) Tom Brennan, 11) Ben Woodhull, 12) Jack Thomas, 13) Henry Atkins, 14) Jack Smith, 15) Joe Lawlor, 16) Zach Wajtknecht. 17) TBC 18) TBC. 3. He did ride well and looked commanding and self assured in his first 3 rides.Once the rain started it became a bit if a lottery. Got to be one of the favourites, along with Bewley. Im hoping 'our Henry' has a good meeting.Riding very well and coming along nicely, very much under the radar atm.
  4. Yes he has, took a race to work it out and was excellent after that.Very much on the pace and in the mix at PL level.I like him. JPB is here for Brum this thursday, good practice. Looking forward to it.
  5. This meeting is only a week away. Can anyone help with Sponsorship? Overall meeting or simply a tyre? See copy of Email from Neil Vatcher. As you well know, at this level, none of these boys make much money, so to save them buying a tyre for this British Final we are asking to see if anyone would like to sponsor the event by purchasing each of the 16 riders a tyre, at a cost of £40 each, so a total amount of £640. For this, you can have your logo on the front of the Race Jacket for the evening, advert in the programme, free admission, and present the trophies to the riders at the end of the evening. If the full amount is too much, then a single sponsorship to a rider would be appreciated, at a cost of £40 each. 6. Good job you didnt see him. Matchstick white legs in shorts. Good grief, even HalifaxTiger doesnt look that bad!
  7. First and foremost, well done Belle Vue. A thoroughly deserved win. Rode as a team and if anything the score flattered Poole. Before the meeting met up with SS,Baz and Oliver Miles(I think!) We ALL agreed it was an away win, just a question of how many.Around 6 points was the consensus. We also all agreed that the Poole team was out of balance, should have been Klindt at 2 and Holder at 4. The meeting itself was like a mirror image of when Swindon won here. Away team racing away to a big lead when the track was wet, deep and rutted. Once the track dried out Poole getting back into it. Very embarrassing to not have a race winner until Ht7. Ride of the night was obviously Starkes excellent Ht11. The ride I enjoyed the most was actually Ht12 and Dan Bewley. He clearly must have watched the previous ride of Starkes, round the boards. As early as coming off the second bend, he sensed what was going to happen and moved over to cover and did the same again round turns 3 and 4.Blocked Starkes move, hard but very fair. Very clever ride from someone so young. One of the few riders that makes me want to go to a meeting to watch just him. He is an awesome talent and British too! Not watched the BT coverage yet, but will lookout for the points raised by others. Well done Aces. Maybe its time to go one better, 3rd time lucky and all that. If its not going to be Poole, which is almost certain!, then I want the Aces to do it.
  8. Ive tried PM, but you cant accept any more messages. If help still required, please let me know. Happy to help.
  9. I remember Brum v Poole.Christer was inside Soren and they both went into the fence by the pit gate. Both laying still for a moment, then big Arthur Browning got involved. He literally stepped over the fence and started on Christer! Quite funny seeing Arthur then being pushed away by Soren! :-)
  10. Jack Parker. Probably the best ever rider never to have won an Official World Title He won just about everything else.
  11. Nothing to do with his stupid decision to drop probably the most marketable rider in the 2017 team? Hes local and fans can relate to that. Its Fords own fault. Most potential sponsors are fans first anyway. They watch and listen to terrace talk. They are not stupid, they know whats going on. Kyle will do almost anything to help promote Poole Speedway, take his bike to schools, shopping centres, talk to the fans, photos etc are never a problem. He works very hard on sponsorship. I really like Paul Starke and his Dad Tony. Smashing people.I sincerely wish Paul all the best at Poole, I am very pleased to welcome him into the team Same goes for Kyle, whoever he ends up riding for. Good luck to both riders, as their form will be under severe scrutiny from a lot of fans.
  12. Thats a big whoosh for you Skidder! Id rather have Paul Starke as a guest rather than Bates, tbh.
  13. Tim has now quit Plymouth after being fined for his comments earlier this season. He has, I understand, handed in all his licences etc.
  14. Yes, but gate 2 was awful and Poole chose 1&3! :-)
  15. Eh? How do you work that out? Josh had ef at the tapes, pulled back once the green light came on. Ref started the race, quite right to. He fell when in 4th place on the last lap! So, he was never in a points scoring position anyway! Klindt on the other hand had a safe 2nd when his bike went. Then drifted into Shanes path baulking his run to go round outside. Personally, I think Middlo messed up the R/R rides. When Schlein came out, we were shocked, as it should have been Klindt or Newman. It then left Newman to have 3 rides in 3 heats later on. As has been said, 2pts better than none.
  16. Last night he scored 16+1, but was leading another race before losing his steel shoe which threw him in all directions bar straight and finished last. Lovely style and has all the trademarks of going a long way.
  17. Have to admit, he was on it last night at SBA. If Devils can get Compton moving, could cause a few problems. Shame that Atkins is in 1-5 on a 3.5 average.
  18. Lovely weather here in City centre. Sat outside eating lunch. Going to be close, either way. Will be on 1st turn later.
  19. Strange meeting in many ways. Were Plymouth really that good? Or were Swindon that poor? Mostly Swindon poor in my book. Zach was superb, as expected, Cuppitt only scored when he got a couple of fliers. Got loads of speed but doesnt know how and when to use it, all over the place. Greenwood only had one good ride, expected a lot more. Mason was as inconsistent as ever. Anderson and Sutton well outpaced, as expected. Difficult situation for Lee Kilby, but I do thank all those that helped the Sprockets out in trying times. Anderson and Sutton especially. Plymouth Boxall, as expected, untroubled all night. Andrews, got a paid max, Best Ive ever seen him. Smart, very awkward and disappointing.Seemed to lack interest. Walker, got stuck in and tried hard all night. Compton, very bland and boring Parker, I understand Ht2 was his first ever race win for Devils? Never far away from scoring more. Atkins, Comfortable and easy riding style and scored freely. Like him a lot. Ive seen far better meetings at the SBA, but hey ho another home win will hopefully tempt more to attend.
  20. Plymouth take on Swindon at the SBA in the National Trophy. Beautiful day for it too! (Ok, Im 30 miles away in Torquay) The following copied an paste from the Plymouth Devils forum. The Plymouth Devils return to National Trophy action on Friday when the Swindon Sprockets are the visitors to the St Boniface Arena. The Sprockets are not competing in the League this year but testing the ground to assess whether to apply for membership in 2018. Due to this they have been able to cherry pick their side from any club not taking part in the National Trophy and team boss Lee Kilby, son of former Swindon and Exeter legend Bob Kilby, has assembled a strong side. They have Lakeside and Swindon rider Zach Watjknecht at No. 1 and the Bristol born racer is the best friend of Plymouth’s Callum Walker with the duo having had a titanic grass track battle a few weeks ago for the British Under 21 title. Zach was a league winner last year with Birmingham but moved to parent club Lakeside in 2017 also getting a top league berth with Swindon. He is partnered by the ever improving Birmingham rider Layne Cupitt, brother-in-law of Tai Woffinden. Layne has turned potential into points this year over doubling his starting 3 point average for the Brummies. Cradley’s Dan Greenwood lines up at No. 3 having had a superb meeting at the St Boniface Arena for his club recently and is a man in form. Alongside him at No. 4 is the evergreen David Mason , who has a good record at Plymouth and controversially was axed by Lakeside this week and has a point to prove. Skippering the Sprockets is Swindon born and bred Darryl Ritchings , who has stared 2017 in fine form for Birmingham . At reserve Swindon track Kings Lynn’s Lewis Whitmore with the No. 6 spot empty following Taylor Hampshire’s decision to take a rest from racing but the Sprockets have the choice of any other 3 point riders available. The Devils are at full strength as they have two fixtures in two days heading for Eastbourne on Saturday for a league match .The second half on Friday will feature two 125cc demonstrations with Bren Trigger, Zak Davey and Leo Rixon plus two quad bike races. The meeting on Friday is sponsored by BRIGGS EQUIPMENT and PRINCESS YACHTS. Teams : Plymouth … 1. STEVE BOXALL 10.30 2. RICHARD ANDREWS 4.26 3. LEE SMART 5.71 4. CALLUM WALKER 3.45 5. 21. Copied and paste from my own post on the Plymouth forum. Plymouth 20 Exeter 16 Demons Henry Atkins 9 Saul Bulley 5+1 Rob Parker 5+1 Jordan Bull 1 Falcons Martin French 1+1 Craig Nethercott 4 Andrew Parker 3+1 Anders Rowe 8 Weymouth 17 Exeter 19 Wildcats Anders Rowe 7 Martin French 1 Saul Bulley 6+1 Mick Sutton 3 Falcons Henry Atkins 9 Craig Nethercott 3 Andrew Parker 2 Jordan Bull 5 125cc 3 riders only Sam Peters 12 Zak Davey 8 Leo Rixon 3 Men in Black Alex Gooch (Ipswich) 11 Dave Harney (Long Eaton) 9 Ron Jones (Coventry) 4 Bill Haynes (Wimbledon) 0 Interesting meeting. First time Ive seen Henry Atkins in race mode. Very accomplished. Same goes for Anders Rowe.Seen plenty of them both as mascots.Impressed.Saul Bulley was always in the mix and looks tidy. Great to see the 125cc lads too.Little Leo Rixon gained the biggest cheers of the night.Struggling with bike problems, he at least finished all but his first race.Even waving to us all while still racing! M.I.B wonderful to hear un silenced JAP engines. Very competitive too. I even got met at the entrance by Laurence! My only grumble was the PA. We were stood between bends 3 and 4 (for those that went along, Martin French fell directly in front of us). The speaker on the entrance to bend 3 was ok. Bend 4 was not working. Got loads of echoes from the speaker in front of the stand just behind the tapes. Music seemed too loud, while we could barely hear Grahams announcements. Otherwise a healthy looking crowd and I enjoyed myself. Read more: http://plymouthdevils.proboards.com/thread/8846/tonight-friday-19th-free?page=2#ixzz4heH1AQcr
  22. Sat in MacDonalds over the road from circuit.Still raining. Going to be touch n go.
  23. I like Stefan a lot. The only real bright light at Plymouth last season. Amazed he hasnt got a place in this League for this season.
  24. KK to go along with James Surely soYesterday,James was spinning far too much. You could hear his engines screaming but not pulling him forward. Surely someone in the pits could help him? Im no expert, but I do notice when a bike doesnt sound right.Think back to Lee Richardson at Poole. He couldnt buy a point.John Davis helped him with set ups, starting techniques and first turns etc. Look how he progressed. I dont want James to go,but if he does Id like Joe Jacobs. However its more about who you get in at the top as the main priority.
