I've seen the Dons close twice now I follow Swindon now but it isn't my team, even now if anyone asks I support Wimbledon but cheer the Robins as they are my local club. It is not so bad, I can get really behind Swindon and made loads of friends there, but I would exchange all the good times I have had at Blunsdon for a return to plough lane. Up the Dons

The comments about the track being slick on this thread are starting to get to me. British riders have been riding and learning their trade on slick tracks for donkeys, so why make excuses for them here? Once it may have been true, when British riders learnt on on big grippy grasstracks but how many of the British team know anything about those? -
Congratulations Middlo Bashers

This is just the result of years of total neglect for British speedway. At last we have now arrived at the level that investment ensures, second rate speedway. But hey at least the matches in the "Elite League" are closer. -
It would have been nice if the girl carrying the union flag, on Scotty's bike, had been given one which was not upside down.

Has anyone got any photos from the second semi? Ove Andersson's from Motala were fantastic, thanks for sharing them with us. As Seb says shame Mads just missed out, I take it he will be a reserve for the final? And well done to Lee. -
Referee Needs To Go To Specsavers
clunsey replied to sirmattyisbac's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Is there any chance that the FIM can publish which referee will be officiating at each GP? Just so I know whether it is worth setting the DVD recorder. -

I would have thought that watching the meetings on TV would mean you had a better view of the entire meeting. My example would be the heat 15 incident at Blunsdon on Thursday and the semi-final incident last night, on Thursday all I saw from the home straigt was Harris going fast under Batchelor and what looked like contact, but having just watched the repeat of last night I saw several different camera angles and could make an educated decision on what happened as opposed to guesswork. Apologise for any spelling mistakes just done a 12 hour night shift then watched the GP. Clunsey (tired, and overworked) -
Just how do you know all this stuff Steve? And when are you back in blighty? We will have to meet up old chap.

Did you have to mention that?

Indeed and why Wimbledon only listed from 1932? Swindon 1949-present Wimbledon 1928-1991 and 2002-2005

I only went there once too, a double header against Wimbledon. Lovely little track and a really friendly bunch of supporters and staff. I remember some old boy trying to tell us all about Wimbledon's glorious history, that made us chuckle.

I haven't been over that side of town since the days of London Lions, and I never really enjoyed those, the place just wasn't the same. I used to love going there with the Dons and as a neutral (although that was never really possible for a Wimbledon supporter). Sure don't miss the walk back to Leyton tube though.

Track Curator For Tomorrow?
clunsey replied to Sir Jasper's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Worth repeating this quote because it sums up what most of the Coventry fans think and we should know because we've had Colin prepare the track in the past. Might be worth getting the opinion of the Swindon fans as well as he was track curator there too. Perhaps we are all worrying over nothing, but here's hoping for the normal preparation tonight and some good racing to make up for the boring stuff we had to endure on Saturday. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Grrrrr. I think curator is a strong word. -
