  1. i think the points system this year is really good. someone mentioned that someone who didnt even make the final could score more than someone who comes second, but that is the point of this system isnt it? let me explain what i mean: say rider A gets a 15 point max from his 5 rides, then blows an engine on the last straight while leading the semi. he misses out on the final and stays on 15. now, rider B sneaks into the semi with a paltry 6 points (that means that rider A who scored 15 was 2 and a half times better than him during the meeting!!), is in third place, miles behind rider A, then comes second after being lucky as rider A had engine failure, then makes a good start and wins the final. if the winner of the final got 25 points then rider B would have ended up with an extra 10 points for the meeting than rider A. Obviously this would be very unfair as rider A had been untouchable and only a blown engine ruined his perfect score. With the current system rider B would have scored 6+2+6 for a total of 14, this is a much fairer score as had rider A not blown his engine rider B would have finished on 7, so rider B can now be happy that he was lucky enough to double his score. I do accept that if a rider goes through the card every meeting it can mean he ends up well in front of the rest of the pack quite early on, but every system is goin to have its downside. I believe this seasons scoring system is goin to be very exciting, even if Nicki does pull away the rest of the top 8 or even 10 could be quite close, harris is only 3 points behind the world champion!!!!!!!!
  2. granted i should have stipulated that i meant first proper gp series, plus at bydgoszcz most polish wildcards have made the final, so well done to him for proving he isnt just making up the numbers. crump already 12 points behind now!
  3. have to say, looking at the updates crump seemed very ordinary, really thought he'd have some fire in him for the opening gp, beaten by hancock twice, who many have said year after year he's past it, and beaten by jagus, who is in his first gp!!!!!!
  4. lol, well, comes with following greg and billy around, then liking the rest of the coventry youngsters, plus i was young enough in 96 to be let off with bein called a traitor, i was only 13!! lol
  5. i'm glad scotty got some much needed points, but i have to say, if that had happened the other way round, with scott coming off, would we all be saying scott shouldnt be in the grand prix because he couldnt hack it? or would we, as people have done in the past (as in at wolves earlier in the season) blame zagar and say he doesnt know how to ride fair, how can someone do that etc etc? i'm a cradley turned coventry fan but i have to say nicholls has started getting a little bit TOO aggressive now, being involved in a lot of these scenarios, maybe he wants to be the new nicki pedersen? it was a shame for greg too because after a hard fought two laps the race had settled with andersen and hancock going through, now crump is too far in the lead to be realistically caught. with all these pent up aggression happening between riders at the moment its only a matter of time before someone does get seriously hurt, and i can see the excuse from the guilty riders now.........."well he started it!!" lol
  6. how can you say 97 was a fluke? he'd been right up there for a few years, then in 97 he stormed it by a mile, great to see him still performing better than many riders who should be taking more of the limelight 10 years on(like nicholls, richardson, jonsson)
  7. looks like i started something there eh? yorkshire people are cool, the people i'm sitting next to are from yorkshire, in fact one of them is ex middlesbrough promotor ken knott (theres the incentive you were talking about yorkshire ace). another incentive would be the fact that they are great tickets at a great venue. yet another would be the chance to see some great up and coming riders like zagar and hampel etc. plenty of incentives there without bringing money into it its always good when a lot of people back you up, thought i may have been a little harsh in my reply at first. oh well, hope everyone is enjoying the sun, i best get back to writing my dissertation
  8. to be totally fair mate that post was a little blunt, sounded a bit like i was being talked down to, these are really good tickets, and i was offering them to some1 as nowhere seems to be selling tickets for this area anymore. now i understand people like to try and get a good deal, but 50 quid for two quality tickets sounds a bit too much like trying to take advantage of someone's misfortune. i also dont like the words non negotiable. sorry mate, try to be a bit more polite next time? ideally i would like someone very friendly to sit next to for 3 hours and enjoy the experience
  9. These tickets are still going, hopefully i wont have to stand around in front of the ground and wave them in peoples faces lol
  10. If trick really is saving himself for the grand prix series then i cant see anybody stopping him fom setting a new record. I think hampel and jonsson will both have good seasons (barring injury) but i do think greg is a dark horse and still has a few surprises left in him. i cant really see nicki managing anything special again, same with adams. I would love for someone fresh to have a good crack at the big guns though, anyone want to take a bet on zagar reaching at least 2 finals?
  11. Hi, my parents have accidentally booked up for a week holiday in italy as they thought the grand prix was 10th june, so they cant go to cardiff (gutted!!!!). The tickets are in the airhorn free zone U9 directly above the starting tapes. I have sat here for the last 3 years and i think it is a fantastic place to sit. The other six people still going are a fantastic lot, so you wont have to worry bout sitting next to nutters i'm not sure if this is classed as advertising or if the admin will remove it, but the tickets cost about £45-£50 (cant quite remember exactly) so if anyone would like the 2 tickets for £80 then please answer this post or send me a private message/email and hopefully we can sort something out. I will put you in touch with my parents if you would like to deal directly with them, but cant post their number on here. Must be able to put up with me shouting for a certain Mr Hancock though!
