Wales retained the Celtic Cup up in Edinburgh on Saturday. I see Dave was riding for Leicester I did not know he still rode since the motor speedway club has comeback. -
I stopped over always do for the second half as like to see the youngsters out their. I think if it was not for the weather a few more would of stopped. Greenwood looked really good going through the card shame about the conditions as you could see the lads were finding it difficult out their on the greasy surface.

Hi Gemini, I think I may of seen you as I was standing about turn 3 and noticed a couple with a couple of dogs. It was a great meeting alot of racing in nice weather and free to enter which you cannot complain. The girls individual was not bad, Lauren Davies was unbeaten and a deserved winner but Vicky and Charlie both looked really good out there. Brum won the final by one point to Sheffield. Sheffield had Jono Birks riding (Ashley brother) and they looked strong. Hull beat Stoke in a run-off for the third place. We have got Stoke in the league tomorrow, I have got a spot in the second team again so hoping I can get a handful of points again! -

Birmingham won a fiery meeting with Leicester 91-79 today. Weather was not to bad, could of been alot worse to be fair. Not sure the second team result as I was in the lineup, though only expected to maybe get one ride got four in the end! Great to get out on the track after what seems like a lifetime with the bad weather. -

Here are the results from the Euro Champs in Poland and also pics of the meetings. It ended a 1-2-3 to Polish clubs with Sheffield 4th and best of the British sides. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&prev=/search?q%3Dkalety%2Bspeedrower%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1366%26bih%3D690%26prmd%3Dimvns&rurl=translate.google.co.uk&sl=pl&u=http://eurospeedrower.pl/index.php/pl/program-zawodow The above link I have posted should take you into the translated page. on the front page you will see the racing schedule and results typed up. On the left hand side you will see the different links. Click results and it shows you the results from Round 1 to the final and you can also click into them to see the riders and their scores. Also on the gallery link there are pics of the weeks racing, though when I go into it when you click a photo it does not blow up to full size (not sure if that is just me doing something wrong) The final saw Leszno win with 42pts and then a run off for second which Czestochowa got ahead of Torun and then Sheffield 4th. In the small final Horspath won by one point to Wednesfield and then came Kaleta and Birmingham -

Hi mate, yeah I know Mark I should see him on Sunday. I will have a word with him and see what he says. I know what you mean and it is good to Leicester are not like that. It was stupid the 2nd match as it is mostly kids and novices like me and Wednesfield put a couple of guys in who have riden a little while and so they went out ahead battling with each other. Some of the lads are off to Poland on Monday as they are representing Birmingham in a Euro Club Championship. I am not sure what teams are going to be there but I know it will be a mix of British and Polish sides battling it out. -

Well Birmingham lost in the Midland league to Wednesfield who like to win at all costs. I had a outing in reserve in the 2nd team and picked up a couple of points in my first meeting. Had training last night as train Tuesday and Thursday and getting the gating sorted. Brum have got Sheffield at home this weekend in the first Elite League meeting. -

I am going up to Wednesfield again today as Birmingham are facing them in the Midland League. Depending on numbers I might be riding in the second team though my ribs are still hurting from my crash in training on Thursday. -

I am surprised Sky/Virgin/BT do not have a Polish channel as they already have some French, German channels as well as a few other countries. -

It is a pretty cheap sport to start up in as most teams have spare bikes, bike helmets so as long as you turn up in a long sleeved top, bottoms and gloves you can give it ago. I bought some gloves and some goalkeeper bottoms myself as they have some padding on the knees and hip area incase fall off. Got a helmet today but did not cost alot from Halfords, dearest thing is buying the bike but you can get them from the website link below. I will prob get one after a few more goes and I am sure I want to take it up. http://www.archie-wilkinson.co.uk/ -

I have been looking at that site of defunct cycle speedway teams and I am surprised how many teams were about through the years up and down the country. It is a shame that there is still not more nowadays as compared to motor speedway you do not have any noise issues and also from a planning issue it is not as much ground etc. -

Well last night I had my first taste of Cycle Speedway. Got to Birmingham Monarchs track, nice little venue in the corner of Perry Park. Met couple of the guys who ride for them who gave me a background to the sport, teams, leagues etc. Some of the first team were their going around so I got to see them see how fast it really is! Then they gave me a bike and I had my first go. I learnt fast to put the ball of your foot on the pedal otherwise your foot clips the tyre! It was a little manic to start and the scariest bit was hurtling into bends 3 & 4 with the banking. There was couple more youngsters, so we started from the gate as well and seemed to make good starts. I will definately go again next week and get more confidence with the bikes and track and and take it from there. -

Thanks everyone for the info and also for the weblink Speedyguy. During the week I have ordered some padded goalkeeper trousers, gloves and got some decent trainers this weekend so once my gear comes I will go and have a blast. It looks a fun sport and I am surprised there is not more clubs cause with the government and some groups talking about children get more obese and adults and it will get worse in the future then Cycle Speedway could really benefit from this and help get people being active and also get the sport some big publicity -
Hi guys, I was not sure where to put this post so I thought I would add it in here. I was looking at getting into Cycle Speedway and I wondered if their was anyone on here that has tried it or even rides for a team. I have found my local team is Birmingham and they train on a Tuesday night so I am going to pop down and see how I go. I was wondering if anyone has any tips or advice for a novice like me as I have only seen clips on youtube and so I have a idea of what it is like but I do not know alot about the sport. Cheers Richard
