Cycle Speedway
Richspeedway replied to bruno's topic in Grasstrack, Sidecar, Short Track and Cycle Speedway
Sadly a few people have left Leicester in the close season to rival sides so they pulled out. Shame as Leicester are a good side and their facilities I would put as the best in the country with Poole. Leicester have got alot of youngsters though so their future does look bright and I am sure once they make their way up the ages categories they will back in the Elite with some local homegrown talent. -

Shame not to see Finland in the Qualifiers and being able to cheer them on again. Looking at the two rounds Hungary looks alot tougher, round 1 I would of thought it be France as I am not sure if Croatia have enough riders. -
Well I am glad I got to this page and comment #69 and the positive news about Gary so I did not have to go through all those pages of rubbish. Speedy recovery Gary and hope to see you on a bike soon.

Hi Gemini, nice to meet you as well. Legs starting to ache a little now was not expecting to get to ride in both teams but all good learning and experience. Yeah we were hit bad one of the main problems riding Premier League on a Saturday as people have work/other commitments. We will be beefed up tomorrow as we travel to Leicester again for deja vu racing. It starts 2pm where the second team race then the first team and the second team again. -

Was it George that was doing the presentation? I always find the presentation and facilities not brilliant at Stoke but shame the track was in a bad state as when good Stoke is a great track to see some good speedway -

I see in the Speedway Star it says that security had to sort out some farcas in the pits and outside? I know their was going on between Australia and GB in the pits but I did not see anything with the fans during or after the meeting myself. -

Well I made the trip up and was going to go to the meeting however the track was like. Making the trip back tomorrow after doing some of the obligatory sight seeing today Weather today seems to be like yesterday so if they had of put it back it would of been the same, maybe possibly not as wet on the track but still not bone dry. Was a good night in the Black & Gold afterwards, nice stadium and facilites though cannot believe how near the houses are to the stadium! If you have not been to Berwick I would recommend going up here to catch a meeting, hopefully when the summer comes if it does! -

Back from the meeting, yes it was not the best due to the weather but like said Berwick cannot help that. The promotion did their best to get the meeting on with covering the corners. It took a few heats for the track to get raceable and it was not a bad meeting in the end. I hope Berwick get another Qualifier next season and the weather is on their side as it is a lovely track and stadium. -

After saying that it has started to come down heavier again! bloody british summer hey! Hopefully if the weather stays like this the FIM will have the brains to think pull it back 24 hours instead of letting them ride in the wet and poodle round for points and risk a bad crash -

Just got taxi back from town as turned into a drowned rat in that rain. Still coming down, not as fast now though. Shame if they cannot pull it back to Sunday as the weather forecast sounds better as alot fans have travelled for this one be good for them and for Berwick to put on a great show. -

Thanks Screm, this is my second visit as last year I came up to see Berwick v Ipswich. I have got a couple of Bandit friends and so when heard of the GP Quali meeting thought have to go up for this. I see the weather looks better Sunday, showers but getting drier and sunny periods later so maybe if tomorrow is going to be like that then peg it back 24 hours. -

I have just got to the hotel here in Berwick for the weekend and the Quali. Weather not good at the moment, windy rain and river looks close to bursting its banks! Roll on tomorrow and fingers crossed with the weather. -
Great GP and also good to see Jason back on the top step. Not sure if it is just me looking to much into it but afterwards when Brandon spoke to Jason and he said Drew spoke to him and that got him back going again he looked and sounded a little emotional. Whatever was said did the trick anyway well done Crumpie.

I will be down at East Park tomorrow as they face Birmingham in the Midland League. East Park ride opposite Monmore Green in the park area. Hopefully the weather will pick up! -
I was thinking last night back from when I was a kid and used to go to Great Yarmouth on holiday. We used to go to the stadium their and see the banger racing or sometimes the greyhound racing. Back then I did not know what speedway racing was let alone that it was staged their years ago. I wondered if efforts have been done to try and get the sport back in Yarmouth or around the local area as the holiday season would help boost the crowds and also possible Norwich fans would have a team to cheer on again?

I was over at Leicester yesterday to see the Over 40's team champs. Leicester won ahead of Wednesfield and East London. Edinburgh were a great credit one of their riders will be 75 in a month or so! Was some great racing all afternoon as well.
