Looking forward to seeing some NL action at Coventry this season, hope the weather stays ok for it as been typical April showers here today. Shame that Greenwood will not be in action for Coventry as he has looked strong in the second halves but Johnson looked good, Franklin should be up there and Heath/Sarjeant and Knuckley have looked stronger the more they have been out on the track. Do not like to call this one be honest should be close one. Is there any second half after this meeting? -

Hi Gustix, there is only one track in London (to my mind) East London. Here is a link to their website, http://eastlondoncyclespeedway.webs.com/ , it has details of them and track location but the fixtures for this year do not seem to be on their. Best place to look for fixtures is this link. http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/cyclespeedway on the left handside you will see a "calendar" click that and the fixtures come up in date order. Hope that helps. -

After last weekends opening Elite League meeting against Sheffield, Birmingham travel to Coventry this coming Sunday (21st April) for a challenge fixture. Racing starts at 2pm at Hearsall Common. The postcode to get there is CV5 7BB which will take you to Broad Lane. From there go to the island at the bottom of the road and take the first exit and the track is on the left where you can park on the grass. Before that on Saturday Paul Timms and Stephen Hodgkinson will do battle in the first round of the Eurovets series at Leicester's Slater Street stadium (1pm start) Birmingham are then in Elite action the Sunday after away at Poole. -

Sky's Additions To It's Speedway Coverage.
Richspeedway replied to Stephen7's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think Sky have ramped up the coverage this year and think it is really good. "Inside Track" with Chris Louis is a good addition and a good insight on how to ride the track and also when he gets to talk to the riders and show them a race they struggled in and see what happened and the reason why. As the season goes on I am sure it will get better. With the updates around the tracks I am surprised they have not done this before and again it is good addition. I am sure Ryan was just a little nervous and a few more weeks in front of the camera and he will get better. -
Dudley V Coventry Ch 09.04.12

I stopped to see the Storm have a six heat match against each other and like 21st said Greenwood and Johnson both looked very impressive. Franklin looked good in his only ride as the other two he had bikes problems but if he steers clear of anymore of them he should look strong. Be interesting to see how Heath and Knuckley both go as well, Trevor looked little rusty on Friday but got better throughout his rides. Should be a close one but think Dudley like just pip it. -

Any Heathens fans who are at a loose end on Sunday why not pop down to the Sandwell Cycle Speedway track as Birmingham will begin their Elite League campaign. The Monarchs who will be led by captain and England International Chris Timms will face Sheffield Stars who have Andy Angell who is the current and double British Champion in their ranks. Racing starts at 2pm and parking and to watch the racing is free of charge. Refreshments will be on sale at the track during the afternoon. Details on the meeting can be found here. Cheers http://birminghammonarchs.wordpress.com/2013/04/09/stars-head-into-town-elite-preview/ -

With the clocks now gone forward and a little more light in the evenings (and hopfully better weather!) Birmingham Monarchs will be starting there training sessions going forward mostly on Tuesday and Thursday nights. If anyone on here is interested in coming and having a go, or you have kids or know somebody who is interested then pop along. Check the website on my signature and look under the contact tab for information, if you need anymore help/info then just pm me -
Steering the conversation back to plot good to see Coventry doing something for the youngsters and riders who just looking to get out there and get track time when most tracks are unable to do this for curfew reasons etc.

Cannot wait for the season to start after last Friday's washout hopefully fingers crossed it is not deja vu this Friday! Last few seasons I have gone to see Dudley and Stoke ride in the NL and some people moan about the racing on here at this level but I really enjoy it though be fair I will watch any level of Speedway! I hope the Bees fans get behind the Storm and show Mick it is a great idea to have a team at this level and to carry it on for the future. Will there be a second half with the Storm meetings?

Any speedway or cycle speedway fans that are around Birmingham on Sunday why not pop down to Perry Park to see the Monarchs in action against East Park. Racing will start at 2pm in the park. It is free to watch, parking right by the track and there will be food and refreshments for sale to keep you warm! If you never been before you can enter the park by car at Perry Avenue and follow the road in the park to the main car park. From there you will see a gated one track road, follow that to the end and the track is on the right hand side. More details are on the website via my signature. -
This weekend the Midland League Cycle Speedway begins as Birmingham Monarchs travel to local neighbours East Park Wolves at Hickman Avenue on Sunday. Darcy Showing What A Pro He Is Again
Richspeedway replied to speedibee's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Well seeing this news does no surprise me. Darcy needs to start to grow up and face the responsibilities. Hopefully the Visa will be denied and a year not racing will hit home to him as he sits at home (though doubt it will knowing him!) What does shock me like others is Neil's comments saying all young people do it. I am sorry Neil but the vast majority of young people do not do that sort of thing. I know people naturally defend their "own" but this is a step to far and I think Neil needs to do a press release to take back what he has said as it does not put the sport in a good light or his position of team boss of Poole or Great Britain. Shame Crump has now retired but hopefully the next batch of Aussie riders will use Jason as a role model and someone to aim to be. -
NL fixtures usually take a few weeks to be released after the EL and PL due to their AGM being slightly later. I never understood why they do not include the NL in the main AGM. It is like the Football League having a meeting and having the Championship and League 1 meeting together and then League 2 have their own one.

With just weeks to go before the season begins the GB mens team has been announced for the tour of Australia in November and Birmingham's captain Chris Timms is included in the side. More details are on the weblink on my signature as well as an updated fixture list with the clashes with Coventry added. -
I did not know the stadium was owned by Corbetts Sports I thought Tattum owned it, though being there a couple years ago looks like Corbetts have forgotten they own it as well.

£10 not bad at all for 15 heats of National League racing and then second half afterwards. Hopefully alot of the Bees fans will go down and support the team and get their weekly fix.
