JAROSLAW Hampel has suffered a complicated hand fracture in a Swedish league meeting. He may not be back on track this season. A worse setback could hardly have happened for Jarek, at this moment of the speedway season. Hampel, who had some motor problems in the spring, was now getting back to his best form. He won the Speedway World Cup with Poland, and he took second place in the Czech Grand Prix last Saturday. "I am back on the right track. Now I can chase," he said with a smile in Prague... In the Swedish league match between Dackarna and Elit Vetlanda, Hampel had an accident with Fredrik Lindgren. The Polish rider lost control of his machine and his Swedish colleague was unable to avoid him. "We still do not know how long Jarek will be ruled out for. It depends on a medical examination. First speculations suggest three months' break," says Stanislaw Kryjom, Unia Leszno coach. per speedwayworld.tv

Correct Personally I could care less if a team buys a WC or fights its way to e-liga on the track. There are teams like Ostrow who have the financial backing and seem to be well organized but always come up short on the track (losing to Torun and ZG last two years)..and this is a great opportunity for them to finally get their chance.

In heat 7 the start marshal waved the checkered flag after 3 laps and the heat was supposed to finish 3:3 with Nicki winning it. But after few seconds of looking around Nicki realized that one more lap is needed and he quickly rode to the finish line just in case...the ref decided that the heat will be re-run which was won 5:1 by Tarnow. So if Gollob was to be excluded bonus would go to Rzeszow.

Congrats to Kyle! I remember seeing him for the first time when he was about 16 or 17 (in Rafal Okoniewski's kevlar) at Welland outdoing riders almost twice his age. Helluva rider!

accuweather.com also forecasts rain. HERE -
Thnx Doug!
-
Any of our Swedish friends know the line-up/updates sties for this one? Heard the weather is crap tho and the meeting might be in question...
-
Doug, we had great weather and not a single drop of rain. It was great meeting, probably the best in ZG this year. Few things worth mentioning was the improving form of NKI (new track record!) and Greg Zengota was the only man to beat Hancock on the night..until EF on the second bend of 4th lap...quick thinking on Hancock's part to lay down his bike and avoid what coould have been a huge crash with Zengi. This is video highlight from one of the local papers: mms://87.105.17.132/video/2007_05_falubazCZ_A.wmv

Oh, stop it Rico!!! We love Leszno as much we love Gorzow.
