  1. I guess I misunderstood , thought you were planning a trip to ZG(?)
  2. Rico this year's play-off system is different, Zielona Gora's season is pretty much over ...on sunday we meet Cze-wa and then wait over a month to have a home-and-away play-off against Gdansk on August, 28th to see who gets another crack at E-liga. Teams that finish between 3rd and 6th place will ride on 7th August. tom
  3. Any chance of someone posting the lineup 'cause I can't find it anywhere... Is Henka Gustafsson's son racing?
  4. If I have some free time I might head over to see the final in Wawrow as it's only 120km from Zielona Gora. tom ps. is true that Jurica Pavlic is going to have his last go at the 80cc???

  7. The fines for the Holta/Kasprzak incident have been rolled out. Unial Leszno managment fined: -Robert Kosciuch 340GBP for his mechanics actions. -Jacek Rempala 340GBP for his mechanics actions. -Kasprzak Team will have to fork out 1400GBP Yesterday GKSZ (polish speedway governing body) decided to suspend Robert Kasprzak for 6 months. tom
  8. wow, I had a feeling before the season started Sawina would comeback in style, but never thought he'd hit the top 10.
  9. Finally my blood pressure is back to where it shoud be ....Overall a great meeting and a lot of passing and fighting. Judging by the score one should be happy that ZG fought hard and gave Tarnow a hard time. But in fact the meetng left some bitterness as ZG was gating well and winning majority of the starts while losing points in the field. In heat 14 Kolodziej passing the slow veteran Swist to grab 3rd place possibly cost us the meeting as 5 seconds earlier Rico passed J.Gollob to give Zielona Gora a short lasting 4:2 score. Next up ZG hosts Czestochowa...another thrashing...
  10. a bit surprised Walasek didn't qualify. When talking to some of the riders, it seems that they use these type of events to test their engines.

  12. Drove to Leszno to check out the prospects, I think the biggest surprise was Jedrzejewski's 3rd place. Mateusz Szczepaniak looks like he's following in his borther's, Michal's footsteps and will develop into a solid league rider.Wans't impressed with youg Kasprzak, very stiff on the bike and just like his brother, he wouldn't have a chance in the world if it wasn't for his fantastic gating. 1. Mateusz Szczepaniak (3,3,2,3,3) 14 2. Paweł Hlib (3,2,3,3,3) 14 3. Marcin Jędrzejewski (3,3,1,2,3) 12 4. Robert Kasprzak (1,3,3,2,0) 9+3 5. 13. I found this info on the polish site sportowefakty.pl, I havn't seen this news on any other website so please don't consider this to be 100% true tom
  14. I just read Attila Steffani retired due to lack of funds.
  15. As usual I don't think anyone knows yet...including the governing body of Polish speedway
  16. I think I already exhausted all sources on the net so I'm hoping someone might have some rare stuff at home or on their computer.
  17. SWC BID BY AMERICANS The USA, surprisingly defeated by Russia in the recent Speedway World Cup qualifier in Latvia, are hoping to host one of the two SWC preliminary rounds in 2006 - but in England! The Americans say they are making inquiries about staging a 'home' round on an Elite League track Assistant boss Richard Child explained: "We have already talked to a couple of promoters in England about staging a SWC qualifier on behalf of the Americans. "Holding one in the States would be unfair on the other teams because the expenses are part of the prize money. It would cost us money as well to send our guys back to the States. "But we would be very keen to host one in England. Whether that is allowed or not, we will have to wait and see.” speedwayworld.tv
  18. I'm looking for pictures, programme covers featuring old school hungarian riders. If anyone has that type of stuff plz post it here or contact me: falubaz78@yahoo.ca tom
  19. the situation keeps on repeating it self every season and a club or two withdraws from league leaving mostly freshly turned speedway riders and veterans that can't compete in higher divisions in the cold. This year we had Krakow withdraw and Lodz was ready to do the same, unfortunately or fortunately (depends on how you look at it) riders from Lodz decided to ride out the rest of this season for free! IMO it's hard to find a compromise as there are pluses and minuses to merging 1st & 2nd div. If you merge the two divisions, management of 1st div teams complain that they lose revenue when their team face a weak team from the basement of the league table. That creates little interest from fans who don't want to see a boring meeting that ends with a let's say...30 point thrashing. So at the end of the day when that team wins 60-30 and you have a crowd of about a 1000 the club is on a minus after a hefty pay day. On the other side 2nd div management wants to race with the better teams with the better riders which would bring in larger crowds and most importantly attract new sponsors. TV is as big part of it as Ekstraliga and 1st div gets the most air time exposure. So the vicious circle keeps going round and round with out any solid results. Yes, there's been a lot of problems with crossing the ukrainian border, the corruption is a high level there, lines ups to the crossing are miles long,so if you want to get ahead of the line up you have to pay off the local mafia (who co-operate with the customs) and that will get you through quicker. But thats not all, once you enter ukraine you'll probably have to pay off more "authorities" for fictitious environmental charges and other made up taxes.
  20. the investigation is ongoing. apparently most-if not all the money that was given to Polonia Bydgoszcz club by the city was supposed to go towards paying off bills (electricity, hot water, renovations etc.), instead the club decided to pay off the debt of Gollob brothers. When someone leaked the info, prosecutor ordered an audit of Polonia's finances and that's where they found a trail that led to Wladyslaw Gollobs scamming ways (apparently ). It found that Wladyslaw's company (officially bike tuning shop) had a turnover of over 10 thousand euro during 2002-2003 (undeclared) which in turn meant he owes the government approx. 30,00GPB in upaid taxes.
  21. had them on last sunday in the Polish league.
  22. I think will see two British riders in the GP's next year. BSI would be stupid not to seed two riders considering the interest the Cardiff GP generates. Poland, Sweden and GB are the "BIG 3" in the world of speedway as far popularity of the sport goes so I'm sure we will see Scotty + Lee/another young rider. tom
  23. quick correction, Robert Kasprzak was in the line-up but didn't get a chance to ride as he was replaced by his brother right off the bat. Only riders with the 3 best averages in a team can be placed as R/R. ps. 7+2 for Lindback, pretty decent for his debut.
  24. Defenitely, without their nr.3 rider (Zabik) Torun have lost a bit of fire power but on the other hand it won't make too much of a difference as I'm sure Torun will use R/R for Zabik. I don't expect ZKZ to win, but a hard fought meeting will albo be somewhat satisfying. ps. ZKZ ride with nr. 1-7 as they're the away team.
  25. at 15 will probably see Marcin Nowaczyk. tom
