  1. Not being picky here but Doyle didn't "make the cut" he won the GP Challenge so will be rightfully there.
  2. No idea... OK I got it.......
  3. Well, my mother talked of Farndon often....her favourite rider in those days, my mother incidentally used to go to Speedway six times a week ALL in London! And yes, I did hear people talking about him at NX in the '60s.
  4. Friday 11/8 is the SON2 U21 Speedway of Nations, Poland are, of course, the reigning champs.
  5. I assume you mean Speed - Fight - Excitement!
  6. That is not really the way it worked, GB had the the last choice....Zmarzlik and Madsen were already in heat 19......could have been any GB rider in that heat. It was manager's choice.
  7. This meeting starts at 8:00PM according to sportowefacty. They did say yesterday it would start one hour later.
  8. Yes, I do remember both now.....I remember looking at the track from the top...... As an aside weren't a few people killed when the "Bobs" coaster left the track at one time? Seem to have some memory of that.
  9. Now I'm confused, yes I know, that is easy for me.......wasn't what you call the scenic Railway the "Bobs" or am I totally confused? If I am then yes I remember BOTH!
  10. I can safely say then "You are going to the dogs"!
  11. How the heck do you remember dropping your Hot Dog, I can't even remember what I had for Dinner last night! All I really remember from the Fairgrounds was the "Bobs"....enjoyed that. Speedway was great there.....think I first went in about 1961 and saw the at least the first eight BLRC's.
  12. Has to be the Plymouth track, as I have just found out above!
  13. Costa Mesa is much smaller.....New Cross was 262yards, Costa Mesa is 185yards. In terms of racing they don't really compare if my memory serves me correctly, New Cross was a long time ago....however it was faster BUT in my opinion Costa Mesa is more exciting for the fans, especially when they have eight riders on the track. And not to mention fans are much closer to the action than New Cross. Anyone else have a view on this?
  14. Try this one Chunky.....lost mine too....this one works. https://vk.com/video/lives?live=1&q=speedway&z=video-53550004_456241275%2Fpl_cat_lives
  15. Every team seems to need Bomber at some time or other.....wonder how many "Guest" bookings he will get this year?
  16. I'd have to spend too much time in the rule book trying to figure that one out but I have to believe it is a legal change or Belle Vue would not have allowed it to happen.....well maybe!
  17. Agree with lot said on here, the no helmet colours were a big problem. National Anthem was just about the worst I have ever heard, muted my way through that one. The fence BTW is NOT concrete, its plywood. This is normal for USA tracks and no air bags yet for this country and of course, no dirt deflectors. Commentator continually said "first USA v World" since 1988....totally untrue, they have one every year except for the COVID years....results are on the International Speedway website if anyone is interested. As others have said "Cairns" looks to be a great prospect for the future at only 13.....definitely one to keep an eye on. Glad I watched it though.
  18. Seen various start times for this 1:00pm, 3:30pm and 9:00pm.......anyone have anything definitive? Even the link above has two different times. I'll take UK time and deduct 5 hours!!
  19. 1959 was my first season at New Cross......although he didn't score maximums every week in that very short season he was spectacular in his style, don't think anyone could argue with that.......might be wrong but I think his only maximum that year was in the Tom Farndon Memorial....a fifteen pointer....you would certainly know better that I for that one.
  20. Between the two, it was really from the smallest to one of the largest, both gave great racing but because New Cross was so small it always looked like close racing. Craven and Young were fantastic there!
  21. New Cross, West Ham and Hyde Road.
