Got me worried so I phoned Mike....he is definitely alive but not in great health....I have sent you a PM.
-
Yes, Mike is still alive and living in Toronto......I have not been in contact for a while but our intention is to visit him soon. I understand he is not in the best of health. It will be VERY unlikely that Mike would travel England for a reunion. I will post a note when we have some contact with him.
-
Yes, you are right Bob did live in Sterling...he now lives in Trenton.
-
Hey Bob, Don't think Bob Fisher would appreciate being classed as "Passed Away"....in actual fact I had an email from him yesterday...he still visits Paris on occasions and still very interested in our great sport. Mike Tams is also still alive..for sure......though I don't know about Dave Dodd

Someone has finally come up with what I had asked in the second posting of this thread.....What was the song played at the end of each meeting? And yes indeed it was We'll meet again by The Dame!! Everyone remember?
-
Tommy is long gone I'm afraid.
-
Have to agree with you on this one....apart from me also being a West Ham fan at the time, I have never seen racing like this....it was absolutely electric...
-
Since I remember "Marching along together" it must have been in 59/60/61...but what was the song always played when you were leaving...should not be too difficult...very well known!
-
YEP!! Can't argue with that!!!

Better get Speedway star...in my programme Reg rides at number 6....I was there and yes I filled in my own programme but I was a kid at that time so I could have made some mistakes but that would probably have been the last mistake I ever made...LOL Yes it was Ron sharp

Ahhhh yes, I too remember him in those years norbold....absolutely fantastic to watch around Custom House. I was also lucky enough to see the 66 World final....oooo so close...all over in ONE race if memory serves me right...Briggs, Harrfeldt, Woryna all met in the one race and they all were not beaten by anyone else! Not forgetting the un-mistakable riding STYLE he had.

Can't we have a better topic than this? WHO CARES!!!!

There have been many Speedway Leagues in USA over the years, none that have really taken off. Having said that....there is a league RIGHT NOW. Industry Hills beat Perris 37-35 in the first match. Perris beat Victorville 41-32 Other teams include LA, Riverside I don't expect too much to come from this.

Never mind!!!!!!! I answered my own question. The rules are on the FIM site and quite clearly state a run off. Anyone else interested in the rules can check out the FIM site here: http://www.fim.ch/en/default.asp?item=31 Go to Page 24.

I make a wild assumption here and assume the rules of the GP are in written form somewhere and covers the event of a tie at the end of the GP series? Actually, several questions have arisen over this years series and decisions have been made that have caused much debate on this forum. Question: Anyone have a copy of the rules? Or are they in Ole Olsen's head? I don't believe they could have just come up with a run-off.

My Cousin called the hospital today. They said "Maurice was "very poorly". My cousin added, he will be 84 on the 22nd of October. And just to add in on the previous conversation....his "Real Name" is Maurice and he likes to be called that......

An American Gp!
andout replied to i love tractors's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Don't think I quite claimed that Legault would make the GP did I? I did say may make it BEFORE the next AMERICAN would. BUT having said that he did accomplish more than any other Brit by at least getting to the last qualifying stage. You and I both know that we don't have a clue as to how any rider will progress over the next two years and that includes your list and Legault. -

Wasn't quite referring to the two Brits (that are desperately trying to hang on to 7th & 8th place). Simply where are the one's to take their place? Absolutely agree about the American public not supporting an event where only one American was riding......they need to have a HUGE chance of winning before it would be supported. I think our Canadian may make it to the GP series in 2009....before another American comes along. -

This has been a very interesting thread......I love to read this again in a couple of years and see who was right here. For me I'd love to see a GP in the USA since I live in Canada (yes I have been to other GP's including Sydney before someone says something negative) but I also can't see it happening right now. As far as riders in the USA, there are some up and coming one's and they may decide to try their luck. While on the subject of riders where are all the Brits???? I say that of course as a joke but there could be NO british riders in the GP except for reserve....what would that do to the Cardiff GP? Russia, IMHO is a definite....SOON! -
GP practise rained out yesterday.........not sure what the weather is like today.
-
Now THAT was funny.....Thanks!

Anyone have any idea if this is being picked up on the INTERNET for those less fortunate...looks like the regular Danish site is not picking it up this time.
