  1. When is everyone going to the POW....before or after the GP? I will be there, it would be good to meet some of you......I leave Canada for my BIG Speedway trip on June 25...and of course I'll be at the GP. Oh yes.....it should be easy to find me....I'll have Canada everywhere on me!!!!
  2. Even the FIM on their site has his name spelled both ways......anyone know FOR SURE the correct spelling of his name?
  3. Canada has one place....and will be taken by Kyle Legault.....looking to see him do very well and qualify for the GP Challenge Final like he did a couple of years ago.
  4. Sad state of affairs....agree with Squall.....used to get up and watch F1 all the time....will definitely not bother now. Speedway WILL probably follow F1 sooner or later...sad if it does.....but then who really cares, it seems most don't care for the current GP system anyway. Although 40,000+ fans at Cardiff may not agree!!! I like the GP's....but I DO miss the one off World Final!
  5. That is one thing I have never been able to do in my visits to England Bob...and this is go to Plaistow and do the walk to the Stadium as I did every week until the closure in '72. Many many good memories from those days, "Customhousekid" hit many of them. My worst memory was of course the Lokeren Disaster....I was in Holland at the time and watched those two meeting, talked to some of the riders....imagine my horror listening to Dutch radio the next morning. This year is going to be wonderful....I have made contact after 40 years with some of the people I used to go to West Ham with and all their away meetings, we have not seen each other for all those years......we are meeting in July at probably Lakeside.....can't wait.
  6. Although I have seen many many test matches and many better one's that immediately came to mind for me, the one that stood out was the Great Britain v USSR at Wembley in 1964. Although the Russians were badly beaten and lost a rider (Vitaly Shilo) to a serious injury, the atmosphere at Wembley was electric, this was the very first ever of the Russian Internationals. The British fans were fantastic, screaming at the end " We want the Russians" to do a lap of Honour....to this the Russians did!!!
  7. dean2009....I was in Australia a few years ago and attended the auction of "stuff" owned by Frank Arthur......most of his trophies and I think the plaque you are talking about (which was given to all members of both teams) went for CONSIDERABLE Aussie dollars. $300 - $400 AUD
  8. Current point totals with TWO races to go. Campeonato 500c.c. 1 – Kyle Legault 144 2 – Lee Complin 135 3 – Guglielmo Franchetti 128 4 – Matias Lopez 111 5 – Mattia Carpanesse 109 6 – Emiliano Sanchez 105 7 – Nicolas Covatti 90 8 – Lucas Allende 64 9 – Julio Romano 55 10 –Lisandro Husman 38 11 – Alejandro Ruiz 37 12 – Jonathan Iturre 27 13 – Cristian Carrica 19 14 – Facundo Gruat 18 15 - GianfrancoRissone 17 16 – Micaela Bazan 14 17 – Pablo Mendez 13 18 – Sebastián Clemente 11 19 – Claudio Schmidt 8 20 – Flavio Husman 8 21 – Wilson Fanfliet 6 22 – Oscar Maurel 5 23 – Antonio Moyano 4 24 – Carlos Silva 4 25 – Gustavo Curzio 2 26 – Maximiliano Westdorp 1
  9. Kyle Legault WINS Round Three..... All the results can be found here..... www.speedwaytotal.com.ar
  10. Only vaguely.....but I do remember the "Boo's" but of course that was normal when Fundin was riding anywhere!
  11. This has been discussed many times before but as I was there and on the bend that it happened I can honestly say from my opinion that it was not Fundin's fault....I really think Ivor was racing way above himself and got into real difficulty when Fundin would not give up the line. If I remember correctly it was on the first bend, Fundin was on the inside and they may / did touch and unfortunately Ivor went straight on, out of control, through the fence. This was the first heat of the 1965 Internationale. Fundin WAS excluded for this so one has to say the Ref saw it as a definite touch by Fundin. The two other riders in the race Genz & Luckhurst had abosolutely no part in this. The only thing I can't remember is if it was the first lap.....don't think so 'cos Fundin was in Yellow and Ivor in Blue. Now I know of course I'm gonna get pummelled for this one but this is how I saw it. So Cradley fans and Ivor fans FORGIVE ME!
  12. Still need the info. and the programmes if anyone can help....please.
  13. Simon, I have just noticed the same thing happened in 2001......7/10/2001...I have this programme but it was rerun on the 21/10/2001...did they use the same programme or was another produced? If they produced another I need that one also.
  14. Thank You very much....you could be my HERO if you have spare.
  15. On the date shown Newport was supposed to run a meeting (Lions v Kangaroos) but was rained out (Familiar words). Does any Newport fan know if there was a programme issued?
  16. Interesting that so far most have said Norwich......I too would have liked to have seen racing there but it was rained off when I went BUT...and this is a big one....I did have the pleasure of meeting Peter Craven and talking to him for quite a while with my parents......will always be in my mind that one.
  17. Dean, I too have requested info about Carmarthen but I put it under Conference League....guess I should have put it here. Here is my question to you, on March 23, 2003 you rode for the England team against Wales in the 12 heat second half.Would you by any chance know the the result and scorers. This has been very difficult to obtain.
  18. Can't answer that one......but I have a sneaking suspicion that "Norbold" may know something about it. Over to you Norbold.
  19. Yes that is quite true as I do have the programme...it was billed as the "Worlds Championship Final" and took place on March 4, 1933. It was won by Harry Whitfield (England) with 9 points from 9...Harry won the qualifier at Perth...also riding were Bluey Wilkinson won won the qualifier at Paris, Billy Lamont who was second in Paris, Dick Smythe who was first in Adelaide, Jack Chapman who won the Melbourne round, Jack Ormston who won Sydney and Lionel Van Praag who was second in Sydney. After the "Worlds championship Final" was a match between New South Wales & The Rest
  20. I see that all the comments made, including mine, are now up on the FIM Guestbook webpage but after reading Rob_B's comments it looks like nothing wil be done about this Ref...he was absolutely right in all his decisions and the 45,000 plus and thousands who watched on the Internet and TV are all completely WRONG!!! Enjoy Latvia & Germany people!!!!
  21. You are right....I did not check to see if my post was indeed posted....my guess is they will run them up after checking them first and since I was not too kind to one of their referee's it probably won't go on. The FIM is still the place to go though, since they are totally responsible for assigning referee's.
  22. Found a place where you can send comments to the FIM....I have already done so and I suggest others do. http://www.fim.ch/en/guestBook.asp?item=57 This is the FIM guestbook.....they don't seem to have an email address....wonder why?
  23. NEVER count Kyle out of anything....he is one gutsy rider....and if I know Kyle he will putting EVERYTHING into this and I will not be surprised if he gets through. Too bad though, this seems to be the MOST difficult round!!!
  24. Bob Andrews - Canadian.......But don't confuse this Bob with the New Zealander....two different riders.
