Coventry Storm V Stoke Potters .. Friday May 31st 8pm
big lad replied to Main Man's topic in National League Speedway
'NL Pairs 2011 at Newport, Simon Lambert and Tim Webster ' Thought he ment he PL pairs, the one that mattered. Derek, or anyone who now goes, what is the attendance these days ? Best thing Stoke have done in years is to appoint Gemma to the management team, should have been done years ago, when she would have had something to work with, and to sell to people. See so I do have a good thing to say about Stoke. -

But none of the riders are assets of Stoke Speedway are they? I think you will find that winning the pairs was a long time ago and Stoke have not won a thing in the NL , bar the fours, when they were the Spitfires. Not just me who thinks its not worth watching , take a look around you , next time you are at Loomer Road for speedway. Very sad that a good club has been run into the ground. -

Looks like Malc has worked his wonders on the Potters team again. First year in change of the PL POTTERS was our last in the PL. Three years in the NL and getting worse each year, whats next , the place shuts shop, great CV. -
they had stock cars there over the Easter, so the place will be like a rubbish heep.
-
are Eazy Rider still backing the Potters this season? not heard anything.
-
Was that 3 or 4 votes, depends if the guy with his dog both voted!!!!!!!!
-
yes it's owned by the Corbetts, the bookmakers.

thats grest Steeplejack, I am glad that you are enjoying it, but I was trying to explain why me and a lot of others don't like NL and the way in which the club has gone, and as such have voted with our feet. The sad fact is that once people find something else to do on a speedway night, you will not get them back, and that is what has happened at Stoke. The thought at one time of not going to speedway on a saturday night never entered my head, and I would rush back form doing other things to ensure that I have loads of time to make it to the stadium and have a chat before the meeting. These days I never give it a thought, and the only time I miss it a little is when I hear the bikes (I live in Chesterton)racing on a saturday night. So if that is how I feel and I live on the doorstep, how are you going to get people who live miles away to come. I never felt that I would ever fall out of love with my sport, after going most of my life, supporting the club and helping the riders out with at times a few pounds, its all very sad and I dont know how we can turn it around, so that Stoke will one day be back were they belong in the PL.All so very sad for the club and all those like me who thought the world of it.

''Some very good riders in the league at times'' But even the best of them are only good enough to hold down a reserve position in the P.L and still they expect people to turn up in a rubbish hole of a stadium, with crap food (and charged the earth for) and still pay near what we were paying to see the top lads in the PL. Get real, most of the riders in the NL are going nowhere except the NL ,fact. Maybe if they were to advertise the fact that they are still running Speedway there they may get the odd few going, but every time I speak to anyone in Stoke and say anything about Speedway, they are always surprised that it is still running. Let me ask you this , would you be pleased to take anyone there for the first time ,in that stadium, and tell them what a good night out this is , stood around ,sometimes for hours in the cold just to watch a bunch of no hopers, and pay good money for it. I think not.

''When we moved to national quite a few decided that it wasn't worth following; quite wrongly may I add, '' I like many others had followed the Potters all our lives, we loved the club, but it was the way in which we found ourselves in the NL. There was no hint of this happening until the AGM of that year, and then it was just forced upon us. From that day most of the long time supporters have not gone, and will not go back until we get back into the PL, where we belong. We, and most others judging by the gate numbers, are not interested in the NL. You could win everything in the NL, and most would still prefer to be mid/bottom of the PL. When I think of the class of riders we used to watch , Pickers, Steckers, Moggo, Crabby, just to name a few, it makes me cry to see what has become of my beloved club.

Great, but got FA for it , will not evan appear in the record books???

Klaus Jacobsen

Vog, have you not been reading potters power, the place will not last the season , as nobody wants to watch NL.
-
Malcolm, we hear the same thing every year, about this team is going to be great etc. You state that it should be a poll of 700 to 800 , well if that was the gate , then why the hell are we in the NL
-
needn't bother getting any team together, because if you look on Potters power they have a poll going, and on there supporters clearly state (over two thirds of them)that they will not be turning up for NL racing, me included, so they will not last the season.
-
Birmingham, just up the road , getting ready to welcome EL stars, the best in the world, GP riders, every week. Stoke , looking forward to welcome some 15 year olds trying to ride a bike, or some old hand never made it every week. Pi$$ poor , hang your head in shame Stoke.

I am one of many potters fans who have been going to support the team for years, but we will not pay good money to watch the Iserwoods and Evans/Armstrongs of this world,I feel ashamed its has come to this and can think of loads of better things to send my money on next year.
