Scunthorpe V Cradley (national League) 13th April 2014
adz_mft replied to Ommer Mon's topic in National League Speedway
The trouble you have is the likes of Scunny can do what they are doing with no problem. They can bring in 6 new riders to the sport in 1 go.They have the luxury of a main PL team to fall back on for finances. If Mildenhall for example didn't build a team that could win on track at home and the odd meeting away,we would close as the crowds would drift. The hardcore base would stay I've no doubt about that, but you'd lose the people who only come every so often. I think Mildenhall have got the balance right this year.Competitive team and a chance to bring on some youngsters. Our oldest rider I believe is Halsey and he's only 25/26.4 riders under 20 aswell.I couldn't be happier with the 7 we have. -
Rye House V Somerset 12 April
adz_mft replied to Vincent Vega's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Not long been in.Quite enjoyed the meeting.Few passes and the racing was pretty close.Plus seeing Lambert score naff all helped Bowen,Boxall and Kennett were good value.Love watching Boxall tbh, especially when he's chasing.Got stitched up by Kennett in the last.Deserved more points than what he got.Think there will need to be changes otherwise its going to be a long old season for Rye. Nick Morris was very impressive as was Aspgren. Both Kurtz's had decent rides also.Solid performance all round really. Good to see you Shads.Hope the curry makes up for the result Adz -

Is it R/R for Allen I'm guessing following his withdrawal from last nights meeting at Somerset? -

Schramm isn't exactly pulling up trees around there this year lol. -

How about replacing Schramm with someone like Stefan Nielsen? -

IMO there are no other 3 pointers who would do a better job. He has out scored the more experienced Schramm in your first 3 home meetings aswell -

Why change Rose for another 3 pointer?? Give the lad a chance,he's only been riding 2 seasons -
Ipswich Vs Plymouth Thursday April 10th 7.30pm
adz_mft replied to CardinalSin's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
We said the same about the team managers decisions.Very poor IMO and cost Plymouth some points.Swapping the reserves about every race was a weird 1 aswell. I thought it was a pretty decent meeting.Racing was always close. The crowd was pretty poor.Considering it is half term aswell I'd have expected it to be bigger.Plymouth have had some decent results lately so it was always going to be half decent. Heeps is a bit of a concern.Certainly isn't anywhere close to the rider he was last year.Is he fully fit? Not giving Katajisto 7 rides was terrible aswell -

Cradley V Kings Lynn - Nl Sheild (08/04/14)
adz_mft replied to Hunty's topic in National League Speedway
Didn't see this result coming.Just underlines how strong the CH team is.Kings Lynn have put together a solid side who I'd expect to be challenging.See why CH are favourites for the league and everything else.Impressive.Won't be many,if any teams get close to them this season. -
Rye House V Milton Keynes (mdl) - 5th April 2014

I'm guessing he was on about Lee Strudwick rather than Niall -
As expected really when you can only have 1 rider over 30
-
There isn't any that is the problem.Imo the league struggled to find enough riders last year. With 2 new teams, the limit should have been lowered to make sure there were enough to make the teams more balanced. Don't know what these riders are doing,if they're retired or not but Irving,Warwick,Young,Knight,McKinna,Priest,Isherwood,Owen,Hazleden,Franklin,Baseby

I just can't see how this is going to help their confidence, not just getting beat but slaughted pretty much.Confidence is a massive part of speedway.I am all for what Scunny are trying to achieve but imho they've gone about it the wrong way.Bring on some young kids yes but do so with a couple of riders who have been about for a few years.Have a solid heat leader trio and fill the gaps with the likes of Sanderson. Not only can the experienced riders help off track but also on it.Look at Jon Armstrong last year. Was paired with Josh Bates for a fair amount of the season. Was a huge benefit to Josh's progress IMO

Can't help but think Scunny would have been better off running a team in the MDL.The new lads will have still gained racing experience. Then next year run a NL team using the riders they've used in he MDL

Robert Lambert Mouthing Off In The Star. Oh Dear.
adz_mft replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The rules are the same for anyone at that age.You can't ride in the league until you're 15.Why should 1 rider, regardless of his ability get preference.Fair play to him going over to Germany and benefitting from their rules, but for the life of me I can't see how anyone who was born and bred in this country wouldn't want to represent it on the international stage. -
Scunthorpe Stags Vs Kent Kings (nl) - Sunday, March 30th
adz_mft replied to lucifer sam's topic in National League Speedway
I'd say Chris Louis's involvement with Ipswich would stop any plans of us moving back up.The set up we have at the moment is brilliant. For me personally I wouldn't want us to go back up and spoil the amount of work thats been made to get the club where it is now. Some of the racing I've seen at this level is amongst the best I've ever seen and that's being produced by young British talent. I like seeing riders develop and get the chance of riding in a higher league. If that means a lower points limit to stay here then so be it. -
