Transatlantic Challenge - Mildenhall - Sunday 25th June
adz_mft replied to PhilK's topic in National League Speedway
We had a meeting a few weeks back when we were predicted rain all afternoon. We didn't have a thing. I've also been through Mildenhall and its been tipping down, got to the track and it's been bone dry. Seems the track has its own weather system at times. As I said, as long as I have signal (can be hit and miss there) I will update all the social media places I can. -

I'll be at the track from 11.30 this morning. If anything happens I'll post on here (signal permitting) -
I never said they couldn't have an opinion? Just in my opinion it's being pretty petty towards what Kev had said. Was hardly bad was it lol.
-
Blimey. Clearly Kev isn't doing a good enough job of annoying people recently, so people have to pick up on the most ridiculous things instead. Comical really haha
-
I believe it's called making it up as they go along.

Dan's a rider who's popular amongst the whole set up at Mildenhall. Part of the furniture now. On his day is capable of beating anyone in the NL. I believe he has changed some equipment this season, wether that has had something to do with his indifferent start to the season,i don't know. All I do know is I have no doubt that his average will be on the rise soon enough. I think Dan's confidence took a huge knock years ago. He had just started riding PL for Rye and was averaging over 4.5,then just got dropped. Considering the progress he had made it must have come as a bit of a shock. He hasn't been the same since then. Although last year towards the end he was flying everywhere pretty much.

I'd say the lifting is a common problem with a majority of air fences tbh. -

Out of interest how is it inadequate? Half of it was only purchased this season -

I have nothing to do with the track or the management side of things. Only help out with the twitter account. I honestly can't answer what goes on with the track as I don't arrive until 12.30.What goes on from 6am until then I've no idea. -

No I wouldn't. The track was poor at the start. Nobody can deny that. All it needed was a bit of a track grade. The tractors were going out and grading between heats. Reading some comments from their riders it would suggest that we weren't doing anything which is rubbish though. To the eye the track looked fine but it was obviously pretty patchy. -

How was the track for everyone yesterday? -
Diabolical track? Haha. What exactly was wrong with it? Have not seen 1 complaint from any fan or rider. Clutching at straws trying to blame something else for the loss. Deary me I wouldn't say it was massively slick . Mildenhall lads out gating Eastbourne most of the time and Eastbourne being poor and unable to pass the team riding that Mildenhall were doing. I am hoping that they put the race between Ayres and Wood up. Side by side for a few laps, great stuff. There was nothing wrong at all with that track on Sunday. Was in excellent condition tbh. The heat times suggest it stayed pretty good also. All around the 51/52 mark compared to the 53/54 second mark last week when it was slick

I don't think losing Taylor has anything to do with it if I'm honest.Looking at the MDL table from last year. Our group in particular.Other than King's Lynn where's the next closest to us? Coventry won't be in it.MK might be at Peterborough again, but as we run on the same day it's a bit tough to be in 2 places at once. Then the rest are way up North. Can't see how it would work say getting 4 kids up to Belle Vue mid week for example with school the following day etc for a couple of heats afterwards. Not really that feasible if I'm being honest. The club is doing the thing they think will bring on the talent we have in the area best.If that means just having a junior 2nd half meeting, that suits me fine.

Coles signs for Newcastle. That solves that 1 then lol
-
There was no doubt he picked up form, but you could also go the other way and say, what happens if he averages the same as at the start of last season.Damned if you do,damned if you don't I guess.Unfortunately for us we had to leave out 1 of the top 4 which was always going to be a tough ask in my eyes. Having said all this, maybe Mountain isn't going to be ready and we do sign Coles.Who knows.I trust the promotions judgement on whatever they decide
-
His physio is going really well.Think he's looking to be back on a bike around late Feb/March. Hopefully Bowtell returns.Seemed to enjoy his time with us.Ruddick is worth another go on that average.Especially with there likely to be so many new 3 pointers.A longer stint at reserve with Jenkins the 1 to move up could do him the world of good I'm just interested to see where these new 3 pointers are going to appear from. Not a lot out there tbh
-
The way Mountain talked at the end of season do suggested to me that he'd be back.. I'd be surprised if he was anywhere else in the NL if I'm honest
-
Why does it?
-
From the interview Louis gave the other day I think Hume and Mountain will be who they go with.
-
It's just you.I think Mountain is nailed on for a spot with Ipswich if I'm honest and hopefully back with us

From Mildenhall Speedway - Mildenhall in seventh heaven as Halsey returns to the Fen Tigers for 2017 The Mildenhall KJM/Manchetts Fen Tigers are pleased to announce their third rider ahead of the 2017 season with the return of the ever popular Danny Halsey. Incredibly it will be the seventh successive season at Mildenhall for the Buckingham based racer who incidentally is also the seventh highest all time point scorer for Mildenhall with 1543 points! Halsey cant quite complete a hat trick of sevens as he is currently eighth in the all time appearances record for the Fen Tigers but that next milestone will hopefully be achieved and maybe passed during the forthcoming season. Only Halseys current Team Manager Robert Henry, with eleven, has ridden in more consecutive seasons for the Suffolk club. Halsey was an important member of the all conquering 2012 Grand Slam side, scoring a memorable heat fourteen victory at Kings Lynn to set up the National League title win against Dudley after his impressive paid twenty two over the two legs had helped the Fen Tigers claim the KO Cup against the same side. The former National League Riders Champion had a relatively slow start to the 2016 season before hitting the kind of form that regular Mildenhall supporters know all too well he is capable of with a succession of high scores, racing with both the speed and the style that make him such a crowd favourite. Club promoter Kevin Jolly has no doubt there is still more to come from Halsey and is pleased to have him back in the line-up he said In my mind on his day Danny is as good as it gets at this level, he just needs to find his consistency early on and maintain it throughout to have another big season for us. He is very popular both on and off the track and there is no doubt he rides better with Jon (Armstrong) in the side. The pair put in some brilliant rides together last season and we will be hoping for more of the same in 2017. Like Jon he is always there to help the younger lads and without the pressure of captaincy he really came out of himself last season. Danny has ridden for me in all six seasons I have been at Mildenhall and it is great to welcome him back for a seventh Halsey was pleased to be back home again he said I am really looking forward to my seventh year at the club which is like my second home these days. I still can't believe this will be my seventh year, that's almost half the age of our reserve Jordan (Jenkins) this year. It makes me feel a little old! I had noticed I hadn't been put forward by some of the supporters in their teams for next season so hopefully l can prove a couple of the doubters wrong this year and really step it up. A lot of work will be going into the coming season with two complete new chassis on order and waiting to be built for the New Year. I really want to be ready from the off and start as I mean to go on with some big scores. I am looking forward to working with Kevin, Rob, James and Phil once more for what I'm hoping will be a long overdue successful season for The Fen Tigers, the team building so far suggests that is really a possibility and I cant wait to get started.

I doubt Stoneman would be back with Mildenhall if I'm honest.Would be surprised if he doesn't return to the IOW

Press Release from Mildenhall Speedway - Fen Tigers sign promising teenage star for 2017 season The Mildenhall KJM/Manchetts Fen Tigers have signed their second rider ahead of the 2017 season with Norwich based 15 year old Jordan Jenkins returning to the club after three highly promising outings for the Fen Tigers late last season. Jenkins had impressed in the British Youth Championship where he finished on the podium, and had stepped up from demonstration races at Mildenhall to the National League side following his fifteenth birthday in August. The highlight of his season in the Fen Tigers colours being a fine paid thirteen in the heavy defeat of Cradley at West Row. Kevin Jolly was pleased to have signed such an exciting young talent he said This is another great piece of news for Mildenhall Speedway and our supporters, Jordan has great potential, and is a highly likeable young man who wants to learn and progress his career in the correct manner. We put in a lot of time and effort last season with Jordan and are grateful that he has shown loyalty to Mildenhall. We will not put any pressure on him and of course will support him in every way possible. He was a pleasure to work with last season as was his Grandad Ross and both will be valued additions to our pit area. Things are starting to fall into place nicely and once the NL AGM has taken place we hope to be in a position to announce further riders. New club Co-promoter James Easter added Jordan and his Grandad Ross came to Torun with me late last season and everyone was impressed with Jordan. His behaviour off track is as impressive as his talent on it, he is a well adjusted and polite young man and we will look to work closely with him and his family to help him develop further. Neither Jordan nor his Grandfather asked for any financial inducements or additional payment terms, and were always conscious that we have a reasonable wage structure. When signing riders we look at many factors, not least their character, and everyone at the club has been impressed by the whole Jenkins family, and their attitude to his development. We understand this is an important year both on and off the track with Jordan taking his exams during the season and we will work with Ross to ensure Jordans schooling needs are fully met. Jenkins was pleased to have secured a team place early ahead of his first full season in the National League he said I am pleased to be returning to Mildenhall, I enjoyed my time there last season and was very grateful for all the track time I was given and the support I received from the Mildenhall Management team and riders. I would like to thank the supporters for their friendliness at the End of Season party last Saturday, and look forward to seeing everyone in the New Year
