  1. It's about permissions more than numbers - people under the ref's control of the meeting have to get the say so from him or the clerk of the course to enter and speak with the ref. Other randoms can come and go with local permission. Myself and some fellow forum members watched many a meeting from the smallmead and other boxes when friends were either reffing or on the mic - i could even tell you the time when myself and one other started a second half race or two in the old days, but anyway... if it's people involved in the meeting, its whoever has permission from the ref or clerk according to the regs anyway. Cheers
  2. I admire your pursuit, no doubt via wikepedia bit it's not right. Pop california into google maps and you wont find it. You'll find the shops but no village. It's the park and a set of crossroads. I only lived there for 30 plus years and entire family still there tho technically it's Finchampstead, Wokingham. Some local places maybe be named after the mobile home park and country park but that's it. . So no i don't need to check a map. Perhaps you should maybe check things like addresses rather than names before you make boneheaded posts that aren't true: ie, Nine Mile Ride, Finchampstead, Wokingham RG40 4HU - the address of the park... This forum never fails to make me laugh. Literally trying to correct someone on the place they've lived for donkeys years.. wow. Perhaps stick to the song title thread - google is always your friend on threads like that.
  3. Of course.. i dont even remember the Cook one at the fours tbh. Just generally meant an assault merits a ban rather than fine.
  4. Makes sense - Longmoor lake is at the park i think. Yep and if anyone is going can they have a look at my house to make sure my tenants aren't wrecking the gaff..
  5. The assault should get a ban. Your mate should get a fine. So no comparison really. Next ?
  6. Can only presume you didn't read my post. I said The Wokingham one ISN'T a place. I didn't say there wasn't California's dotted around the country as i'm sure there are. Just over an hour door to door Gustix and you know i live very close to you so it can't be much more than that for you. Get the kids to take you down there for the day and bring back a few memories. You won't regret it i'm sure.
  7. I'm from Wokingham, where California is and it was named by the guy who opened an amusement park and i think a zoo there donkeys years ago. I guess to make it sound a bit more glitzy than just wokingham... So it's not a place as such no.
  8. Why is the fact he's unpaid such an issue - should the ref ask every official that causes an issue how much he is paid before he writes his report ? The two incidents keep being mentioned when they have no relation whatsoever.
  9. Cor yeh i remember that. That was a shocker. Our manager was a very noble knowledgeable chap who knew the rulebook inside out, so if ever got a fine, we always knew it was for good reason!
  10. Good to hear your version of things tho does go slightly away from what the original fella said - i thought he said you went in there to get the ref to address it as racing incident and to reassure the rider in order to continue his career ? Sounds like you went in there without his permission to show him some unofficial video (where was it from by the way ? club video guy or someone randomly filming from the crowd/pits) in order to change his mind. You've not "stormed" the box i guess but you certainly didn't have the ref or clerk of the course permission to be there. Being beckoned in by an extra in the box doesn't give you the right and as TM you probably know that. I don't know how long you've been managing the team, but i'm sure older heads in the role would give you sound advice here that chasing a decision like this no matter how poor you think it is, isn't the way to do things. There's standing up for your team and there's this. This was a rider type reaction imo. Not a managers one. It's all very noble to do what you did but the reality is that it was a crazy thing to do - he was never gonna change his mind was he.. I will apologise for this in advance, but your last sentence is frankly daft - if you're gonna abandon speedway, then do that, but to use this as some kind of reason of a supposed sinking ship is stupid. You caused this.. Also, if you don't wanna pay, just don't pay then - it only stops you from getting licensed again i believe if you don't pay up. Cheers
  11. Have been out for the night so missed most of this - i'm confused tho, Why the urge from the manager to go steaming up to the ref with the meeting still live with the intention to get him to say it was a "racing incident" and to reassure the young rider to resume his career ? Unless this ref was Hans Nielsen, or some other vastly experienced rider who was pressing the buttons that night, what kind of logic is there for a team manager to seek belly rubbing from a ref of all people to encourage a young rider to carry on riding. And how naive can the guy be if he thinks the ref is going to go rogue on his reffing duties and watch some random video of the incident to possibly comment that it is a racing incident or not just to possibly keep the riders conscience clear. If the chap is experienced and well respected within the sport as you say he is, he should know that his angle here was all wrong and approaching the ref was a bad decision. Regarding the fine, i personally reckon the fella has got a double bubble here that makes up his £100 - maybe for unauthorised access to the ref without clerk of the course permission and then for whatever went on in the box itself. Also, i'm not sure whether him being a volunteer is relevant - doesn't a manager have to be registered with the scb anyway therefore making him fair game for the disciplinary process ? His wages are irrelevant really. To finish, i'd love to see the specifics of the judgement here. Sounds like it could be a good read.
  12. Maybe a former team manager or clerk of the course on the forum can answer this, but not sure just any old random official other than the ref can invite a team manager to enter the ref's box. Also, 3.2.8 is violent/threatening/abusive, which is subject to witness statements normally, so am guessing there is definitely more to this.
  13. True - Holder will reduce his average enough by himself if he comes back anytime soon anyway.
  14. I'm aware of that - I only mentioned Middleditch as he was referred to in the original post. Is that alright ? Bloody ell..
  15. Would be bonkers not to get some kind of agreement with Nk and Jg in motion and at least that gives the fans a bit of positivity as the season ends. I imagine not too costly to secure either so a no brainer even for someone like Middlo.
  16. I often wonder how the threads with John in would play out in real life if we were all sitting around a table, or in a pub perhaps..
  17. For someone who cant weight bear, Holder wasn't doing too bad standing in the huddle there.
  18. Go go go.. it's harrowing, but an amazing experience. Went during a Katowice Gp weekend years ago, but went again on a non-speedway trip in winter in the snow to fill in the bits i'd missed the first as i was tad hungover. It's well worth it.
  19. He's a big player on Facebook aswell Chunky.. don't forget that. Aim for any tiny Wh Smiths in South London and you'll find speedyguy there wittering on at the poor staff.
  20. If this ludicrous story is even half true you need your head examined for even asking. They probably thought you were a patient from Bethlem Hospital on day release.
