Anyone Taking A Camera To Cardiff?
The Doctor... replied to stressed's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'm pretty sure it's the bottle tops that they would take off you anyway...Apparently without a lid you can't throw it at someone. Easy solution...i do it for every football game i go to - just put it inside your coat, and once you're inside..you're free to put the top back on and fire it at anyone you please! Me personally...i wouldn't be throwing mine unless S***ehewe* got a call up again... Failing that...drop me a line, and i can use my pit pass to smuggle all sorts of stuff in - for a small fee of course! -
It was certainly moved to an almost closed position from a fully open one halfway thru the meeting one year. I can't remember when... And at practise, they have it open, then shut, then open....all sorts of buggering about happens, but usually i'm too ahem...tipsy to notice the reasons for it

Camping At Cardiff ?
The Doctor... replied to speedway2006's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Must have changed since we were there, cos they definitely didn't have their own Taxi's. Thinking back to it now, i had serious aggro actually getting a taxi to take me back after the meeting...for some reason, a drunk bloke wanting a 30 quid taxi into the middle of nowhere wasn't exactly the kinda passenger they wanted. The rest of the story is definitely not fit for the forum -

Have you ever been to Lavernock Point before? I'm only askin because we stayed there a few years ago, and got well and truly shafted on taxi fares to and from the pub on the friday, and again on the saturday. Bring plenty of pennies... -

Ideal scenario would be maybe sharing the bed with ahem....someone, but obviously not your good self Rico -

The HI Express down in Cardiff Bay ? I'm on the floor of Rico's room...which is probably about right if my drinking from the pervious years is anything to go by. -
I'm sure Rico will post something on here, but maybe send him a private message through the forum. He books our tickets for Bydgoszcz every time we've gone over there - he'll be able to point you in the right direction.

The Ref Is A Clown.
The Doctor... replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Anyone see me out on track then? Everytime there was a crash, the riders who stayed on before the re-runs had to have some more fuel....and that was my job Dressed all in bspa black... and doing a fine job if i say so myself -
Cardiff Press And Practice
The Doctor... replied to Sandie's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Hmm....well take it from me, and i'm reading the official fim paperwork and supplementary regs right now, which are pretty unlikely to have changed in the last few days i would think. Its 1500 to 1730 - and the first group of riders out on track will be numbers 18-10... With track re-grades etc, the big guns won't be out til after 4 i'm guessing. -
Cardiff Press And Practice
The Doctor... replied to Sandie's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Sad but true. You won't be missing much really.. However....we're going cos, well, we're special -
Erm...not true. There aren't any stewards whatsoever working on practise day (hence it not being open to joe public) so if you've got the desire to, you can watch it from anywhere in the stadium. Previous spots for Rico and The Doctor have been on the home straight, peering out of the main tunnel, standing on top of tractors, right up in upper teir, and any number of executive boxes, as well as right by the ref iirc from last years hazy memories.
-
I think its more than that from what i remember- 2 minutes a time for each group of 4 riders....over and over.. It goes for 2 and a hlaf hours so theres a fair bit of time imo. It certainly isn't much of a spectacle tho - we left early the first two years and got plastered big style up in an executive box last year which helped us miss most of the "racing". Still - if anyone can charm their way in without passes etc, its certainly an eye opener. Having a free run of the stadium to do pretty much as you please is a fair olf feeling - one i'll never forget thats for sure..
-
Hmm...no thank you - Rico might do it for you tho
-
Na, myself and Rico work at the Gp so we're up in the city centre at a hotel.
-
Lavernock Point - that's it. I dont wanna put the mockers on your trip, but it is miles and miles away from the stadium, and more thana little 70's - if you're getting a taxi back from the gp, i seriously advise you save up your pennies. we were going back and forward for practise and the gp, and it cost us a fair old wedge.
-
if this is the place just by the castle, you'll be fine, but if its the place out in the sticks...(i can't remember the name of it), you might get a bit of a cultue shock. We had the misfortune of staying there the second year of the Gp's and despite being full of speedway fans...it was a tad backward. Still can't remember the name.

Anyone Going To Bydgoszcz
The Doctor... replied to seanisnumber1's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Harldy even worth worrying about a bus really - it'll cost you about a quid to get a taxi...
