  1. But it wasn't really just 5 points was it ? Sorry if i'm being thick here, but its late...GB were only 5 behind because of a double point win by Richardson ? So in real terms it was more than 5 points that Nicholls would have to stump up surely. I personally don't give a hoot about team gb, but if you actually think Lyon will be sacked after this, you are seriously deluded.
  2. This has already been denied by Jan Staechmann on another forum..may well be true of course, but still for the moment, it certainly isn't gospel.
  3. Hmm.. I'm from Belfast, and have certainly never referred to myself as being part of the united kingdom of great britain and northern ireland. We'd certainly say Britain but not the Great bit. I realise that GB is only the mainland, but still, was a bizarre thing for someone to post imo.
  4. Apologies if i'm missing something here, but what do you mean by this sentence ?
  5. So one rider says it years ago, and it's fact... As i said in my last message, is a rider who's leading supposed to have eyes in the back of his head ? Riders like Hancock and Wiltshire, as much as it pains me to say, were a few years ago, easy to pass once they felt a rider was within 10 yards of them and they then rode lines that were easily passed on. I can't remember any other rider ever bottling it simply because of some stupid fantasy gentlemans agreement about letting a quicker rider pass.
  6. I'm actually embarassed for you.. Leave a bit of room if there is a quicker rider behind ???? So the rider in the lead has to concentrate on his own race, and is supposed to work out if the bloke chasing him is faster than him ? And if he is, he should just leave a bit of room so his opponent can just pass him... ? Ah yes...of course... Deano - i seriously hope you've been drinking tonight, because that is just bananas.
  7. Yeh, i just thought that as newbie, the taxi might be easier - i've walked it many times, but have been more thana little tipsy each time, so i usually end up taking a different route every year
  8. I've got man flu, so can't go into much details her with links or anything but briefly... You won't get a tourist shock for food, taxi's or beer. It's not as cheap as when we first started going out there, but its defintely cheaper than weekend away you'll have in the Uk. Beer is maybe a £1.30 ish a pint.. prices vary tho. Still cheaper than here tho.. You'll obviusly spend more in a hotel bar, so get yourself out into town to find yourself a beer.. Food also cheaper.. and not that i'm a smoker, but from what i remember, cigarettes are a lot lot cheaper aswell. Taxi's are cheap and plentiful, but you shouldnt have much cause to use them anyway apart from maybe going to the stadium You could walk to the stadium from the town centre, but if it's your first time in Bydgoszcz, a taxi there will be best probably so you can figure out how to walk back. 5mins by taxi, 15/20mins walk back. The cheapest ticket at the speedway won't get your own seat, and for a newcomer, sitting on the backstraight or 3/4th bends can be a bit of a culture shock. The grandstand and Turns 1 and maybe 2 are numbered seats where you'll find things a little more restrained. Hope that helps.
  9. Erm.....Holder didnt ride at ZG in the Gp Challenge... I was very very drunk at that meeting, but think i would have noticed Holder riding.
  10. they hardly killed speedway did they ? and just out of interest how many bsi/img meeting would you say you normally attend each year ? apologise for the sarcasm here, but if you're saying that because of this, 44 years of dedication has gone out of the window, then i think you probably need a break from speedway for a while anyway..
  11. ahem... "mate" ... i'm grown up fine thank you, and have travelled all over the world to watch gp's and other meetings. There will defintely be a gp in malaysia soon, as no doubt there will be a russian one too as the sponsorship and local interest will merit it. Where are "these types of places" you're referring to then? Some cloud-cuckoo idea of it going to Vegas is so way off the mark it is unreal. Why don't they have one at EuroDisney - now that really would attract the tourists ? Anyway...keep coming up with the ever so funny posts... you're doing a great job at sounding very well informed so far
  12. Well i think you must be desperate to go to Las Vegas on a holiday, but your mum won't let you unless there's speedway on over there As boneheaded as some of the decisions with the sgp events are, i have serious doubts that they would they would stoop this low unless there was serious guaranteed local interest to justify taking everyone over there for a 3 day jaunt. Its a little naive to rely on foreigners travelling over the to watch just because its Las Vegas and the other tourism there...
  13. I'm absolutely astounded at the way this thread has developed. Probably says more about the state of people's attitude nowadays than anything else. If in doubt...sue em.. Pathetic in my opinion. I found this little speech on the internet..... "Like many areas of law, liability for defamation can be avoided by taking a common sense approach." Nuff said.. The Doctor.. DISCLAIMER: There isn't one...i'm right
  14. Why thank you Sandie I have promised myself and all those near to me that i will not be getting quite as carried away as last year... so hopefully i won't need the services of the forum mums to keep my spirits up this time around
  15. Evenin everyone... Due to a bit of a cock up on the old button pressing front, i've got huge chunks of last nights tv coverage missing from my recording. Any nice people out there fancy whipping up a little copy for me ? Thanks.. (ps - what a wonderful job the fuel team did...not drawing attention to themselves, not arguing with stroppy mechanics, and not diving into shot when young english riders were being interviewed live on sky )
  16. Believe me, it's nothin to write home about... Myself and a few others from here have the "pleasure" of being allowed in, but we'll only stay for a little while - the pubs of Caridff are far more appealing to a scotsman, a pole and an irishman away for the weekend
  17. Wroclaw, Cardiff and Bydgoszcz for me also... However, i shall be trying me best to rein it in a tad after my old ankle-busting exploits in Bydgoszcz that somewhat spolied last seasons events
  18. Well, i'm in my second plaster of my break now.. And i'm also sporting a very natty blue thing, probably best called a shoe i guess..its so i can start to weight bear a little bit. I've a few complications in that i somehow managed to sever a ligament on the other side of my ankle, which may yet need an op to sort out. This was only noticed when we re alised that my big toe would not move, no matter how hard i tried to make it! Anyway...thanks for your interest - hopefully the next 4 weeks will go okay and i'll be able to give the crutches the heave-ho before fireworks night
  19. I actually have top bear this monstrosity of a plaster until friday at least.... only another 3 days of making up excuses to cover up what exactly the young gladies of Pila are especially good at....and of course, what our good friends at apator Torun really are
  20. Some of you will know, but most of you won't... that i suffered a rather unfortunate injury on my first night in Bydgoszcz, resulting in me being in plaster up to the knee for the whole time, and the next 6 weeks apparently I make no bones about it - it was totally self inflicted, and maybe missing a gp due to injury will hopefully give me the kick up the bum i need...but anyway, This is a small thank you to all those who at least kept my spirits up, carried my bags, bought me a diet coke or two, jabbed me with a needle, and well...just stopped me from throwing myself off the balcony at the hotel. You all know who you are... Thanks everyone
  21. Hmm...i bet he's bricking it Might be an interesting trip for you fellas...you certainly sound like Bydgoszcz virgins - might not be wise to strut about the place like tough guys imo - the locals won't suffer any buggering around like you might get away with back home. Ah well...kids will play and all that let's just hope you don't get a shock or two out there.
  22. From what i remember of our times there... its been a bit of everything. Seem to recall it lashing down with rain a few times, but then again, it's also been roasting hot, with us sitting in the town square necking booze as if its going out of fashion Moral of the story....it'll be fine. But take a waterproof just in case..
  23. I would get a taxi from anywhere around the town square. Hotel Ratuszowy is fine. We stayed there the first 2 years, but its on the other side of the square from the direction of the track. You could walk it no problem, but i wouldnt bother. You'll probably have to walk back anyway.. In that case, just follow the crowds The hotel is about 2 minutes from the main square...ideal for the various pubs and stuff.
