  1. Rune Holta has a Polish wife, as does Sullivan if i remember rightly ? They arent good examples at all. Andy Smith ( a rider who raced before you went to speedway) took out a Polish license and it got him nowhere. It's a non starter. It just wont happen these days.
  2. How many other riders from outside of Poland ride on a pzm license ? Not many thats for sure.
  3. I think i woke up my neighbours laughing just now. 4 years eh ?? woahhhhhhhhh.........
  4. No idea why i remember this but i'm sure Marvyn Cox got very close one time..no idea who he might have been riding for at the time tho. Not his Bradford days anyway. Thanks for that Phil.
  5. Not sure Philip, just never taken a shine to him. Maybe i'm a bit old school, but his image just doesn't sit right with me. I'm no old fart, but all the tats and ear things wind me up, obviously not just with him but anyone. Smacks of attention seeking to me. Good rider tho, no doubt about that.
  6. Blimey calm down. There's only 3 Gp's left so it's understandable how some people could say it's pretty much all over. For Hampel or even Pedersen to make up 20+ points in 3 rounds is pretty unlikely. Shame really. Not a fan of Woffinden.
  7. Easily the single most memorable day watching speedway in my life. Gp's are excellent and i've been privileged to have enjoyed so many of them over the years in many different capacities, but for me, 1990, was, and still is, the most amazing night of speedway i've seen. 21 heats, Reading Racers in first place and third place, and a bed and breakfast in Pontefract. What more could i ask...
  8. Monday Monday....The Mamas and Papas. A lazy choice by the people at Reading all those years back, but it just stuck in my head from day one. Not that it gets much airplay these days, but any time i hear it, i'm transported back to my early days in the sport in 1990... Jeremy Doncaster Dave Mullett Jan Andersson Tony Olsson Per Jonsson Nathan Murray Todd Wiltshire A double winning team in my first year, and the only reason i got to watch the sport was because i was a bad boy at school and my mum and dad wanted me to get in to something which wasnt smoking or bunking off. Thanks to my good friend Skids, i'm celebrating the 23rd anniversary of watching the amazing Per Jonsson and Todd Wiltshire in their world final glory.
  9. Should happen on every flight. I had the very same experience coming back from Portugal just last week with mainstream airline and seen it happen plenty of times.
  10. Erm no...and other peoples achievements ?? What are you on.. What may come across as bitter is simply frustration at people who know diddly squat about the decisions and daily grind a speedway rider and the administrators have to contend with. People's lack of grip on this forum is hilarious and it is no wonder when it's referred to in a poor light by so many people.
  11. Again with this "embarrassment" thing. Why are you, as a human, even thinking about getting embarrassed over this ? Do you seriously imagine yourself sitting in front of your telly going red in the face, shuffling nervously as you watch Harris possibly trailing in last ? If you do, i suggest you pop in to your doctor's surgery first thing tomorrow. I cannot fathom how so many people on this forum seem to want to immerse themselves in the sport so much that they are living and breathing every single emotion and argument connected with the sport. Unless you're a rider, or actually involved directly in the sport, is it beyond you to actually just enjoy the meetings and leave the embarrassment to the rider himself ? [ Pointless reply really. I don't believe that little tale either. Riders don't have a bottomless pit of money to spray up the wall at the drop of a hat. A 4000km round trip is not something to take lightly. Putting myself in that kind of position, and not in the cloud cuckoo land some of you lot live in, i would be thinking...blimey, am i ready to risk x amount of money to do the 4000km trip for potentially nothing ? if i was to race and go through, am i ready to go in to the gp's full tilt next season anyway physically and financially ? am i prepared enough right now to fancy my chances at at the meeting anyway ? All these are valid questions that professionals would ask before they do something. Unless you know the answers to all of them, probably best not to guess at reasons or to wind some elaborate tale about chasing your own world championship dream in whatever "sport" you compete in.
  12. People care what people think...just not when it's the same thing over and over and over and over and over....
  13. Alright, we get it. You dont want Harris to get a wildcard, you didnt approve of him being in the meeting tonight. Fine. Move on. Rocky 4 is on telly. Well worth a watch again.
  14. You're aiming the question at the wrong bloke...I'm sure if i trawl back through this thread there is info that would lead me to a full explanation. I'm not getting bent out of shape over this, you lot are..
  15. Strong words...hope you've got your blood pressure medication ready then as he could well be qualified after the next heat
  16. Yeh of course...a 15 year old. For the love of god you need to have words with yourself mate..
  17. But by the letter of the fim regulations etc, this is just how it's done. Why should a magazine ask questions of an organisation when they are only going to look boneheaded when the answer comes, because it's what we knew already ? Not agreeing with the rules, frankly pathetic in my mind, but still, nothing to be gained by the star going off half baked with some pointless charade just to please a few people who cant get their head round the vagaries of fim competition.
  18. With respect, even if they did do that, what kind of reply would they ever get ? Farce it may be, but what the hell has it got to do with the Star ?
  19. Have heard tributes today mentioned on bbc, 2 sky channels and talksport.
  20. Not that i particularly frequent the world of twitter, but a wide and varied range of tributes coming in for him on there if anyone wants to check it out Looks like he was quite a popular figure down south in the football and cricketing worlds. https://twitter.com/search?q=tony%20millard&src=typd
  21. the women are ropey, but good for a................. apologies to any locals ;-)
  22. Yeh, i was expecting a shocker and tbf it wasnt too bad. Obviously helps when there are a few decent lines to race on. Bit of a lazy statement to make saying it was a borefest.
  23. Fine, but then those same people shouldn't bleat and moan on here when Sky dont renew next season. Quite simple really.
