  1. So it's not just Middlo who you're sniffing around then ? If he isn't deserting british speedway, then why has he not chosen to ditch one of his other teams ? Oh yes...because they pay better than what he could get over here... He got injured yes - but many many other riders get injuries and a fair number of the general public do too on a daily basis with broken hips and pelvis's aplenty. I see no reason to fawn over him over some simple injuries. It only seems worse because he's your hero and the injuries aren't the normal type associated with speedway.
  2. Blimey...it's the fact you lot are taking it to heart so much. And as this is a family forum, i'd rather not go into much detail as to what my definition of a Poole type is. Nice in principle but could be slightly open to abuse i would think..
  3. Huh ? You Poole types are taking this a bit personally aren't you ?..Ah well.. And i'm perfectly calm thanks.
  4. Not the point though is it ? If folk in the real world have to be abide by the rules, why should he be any different just because he's a speedway rider ? If he's got the visa to stay, fair play, if not..he goes - simple. Someone mentioned a 5 year visa, but i didn't think sporting ones stretched that far. Because it's a free country... and as i said, i'm happy he won't be around, especially as he's clearly putting british speedway at the bottom of his priorities. Sorry that you and your cronies are upset that he's not going to be riding for you. It's my personal choice to dislike him, and there's nowt you can do about that really.
  5. I'd hope not..though i'm sure the uk born partner (who may even be his wife now i dunno) and child may give them enough wiggle room to drag a few more months out of any red-tape they might come across. Saying that, i can see him being based in Poland - doesn't he ride for Torun ? Ryan Sullivan lived quite happily in Torun for a good few years...and in light of old Kks's team going down the swannee for 2014, maybe he'll be back over there aswell. To be fair, i couldnt give a toss - like someone said earlier..one less person waffling "yeh i'm stoked" in every spoken or written interview is good with me.
  6. Was one of the blokes who name escapes me and the girl Jay.. Good drinkers and nice people. My older sister who remembered them in their heyday was laughably overwhelmed when she met me the following morning at Heathrow as we all stumbled off through arrivals hungover chatting like old friends..
  7. I'll see your Iron maiden and raise it with a Bucks Fizz.. I once got drunk in a bar at JFK with two of Bucks Fizz but sadly one of them wasn't Cheryl Baker..and that certainly doesnt make me a good singer.
  8. Well of course then everything's fine then!! He's hardly going to go on twitter and tell him to eff off back to his b&b is he ? By your fuzzy logic, does it mean that the riders that don't go on twitter to say how sorry they are to see him go, DID have a problem with him then ?
  9. Blimey, are you really that scared of losing your free entry to Poole next year ? Give it a rest mate.. Phil Morris seems to be a decent motivator to me, whether you like it or not - to me, there is a high number of british riders who come across as difficult to control, motivate, and are prone to sulks. But like how in football, managers put a metaphorical arm around them, inspire them, it can work in speedway too. I seem to remember either seeing or reading about golf days that the Birmingham riders had with the management in between meetings. Not everyone's cup of tea i'm sure, but clearly the team spirit was good in the camp, and results came in for the most part. Then when GB ride, they're suddenly riding for a man who pretty much pees everyone off through his constant chopping and changing, instantly demotivating pretty much everyone who he crosses swords with, and won't engage in anything remotely team-bonding esque because he thinks he's got enough years in the tank that he doesn't have to bother. Will be interesting to see if any "retired" former gb riders make themselves available now..
  10. I admit to bailing out for the last few pages, but i feel genuinely embarrassed for Starman for the most part of the thread i've seen here. I'm not sure sure i've seen someone stick up for someone, literally post by post, to the extent you have. Forget the fiver someone bet you earlier, i'll quite happily pin £250 to the riders ben fund that says that the next manager will do better than your hero. As for the last page i read, i seriously doubt Phil Morris would come on here to big up his credentials for being a manager - whats the point ? And why should he ? By the same token, there's nothing to be gained in Middlo coming on here to explain me bumping into him in a whorehouse is there ? Exactly...
  11. Many moons ago in the lovely old Pod Orlem in Bydgoszcz, during a very very liquid filled evening with Ole Olsen, Tony Steele, Jim Lawrence and good old Gunter Sorber, a good friend of mine suggested, at length, to Ole, about the possibility of the gp's running with with two starting gates on the home and back straights, running each heat as some kind of pursuit race, like they do in olympic cycling. To be fair, Ole and Gunter listened to him intently, and thankfully ignored everything he said. They went to bed not long after, and our time with them ended with one of our party nearly coming to blows with Lawrence. Good times
  12. I can see where i got it from though.. http://img.webme.com/pic/f/fotospeed/ylinen_vesa3.jpg
  13. Fork me..Vesa Ylinen. Wasnt he the ginger bloke ?
  14. Huh ? I'm not a fan of anyone remember Shovvy..my Reading Racers have long since disappeared and with them went my loyalty to any club.
  15. I should think that with a sensible family behind him, he wouldn't be swayed Ford and his cancerous methods.
  16. Why are you sticking your nose in ? Piss off and leave this to the Eastbourne fans.
  17. Oddly enough as a member of the fuel team at cardiff for many many years, and perhaps because i was frankly drunk from a forum meet at the prince of wales earlier in the day, i was practically offered out by a rider and his team for perhaps not doing the most thorough job refuelling and dropping a big lump of shale in their fuel tank. A first bend crash meant i refuelled him on-track and somehow some crap got in with the fuel. The un-named rider, ahh... screw it, it was Crump, went out to race and when they came back having had a shocker they were literally wanting to fight me. Made me realise how such a trivial thing could cause such a problem. It was during the same meeting meeting that myself and one of Leigh Adams mechanics had full blown "contact" shall we say, so perhaps it says more about my alcohol intake on the day rather than anything else maybe. I blame the forum meet at the prince of wales ;-)
  18. Come on..let's not lie now eh. Are we expected to believe this ?
  19. In my opinion, those aren't accurate comparisons. Football and Cricket have far more sedate periods during each game where commentary is often unnecessary. Speedway surely is 60 odd seconds of action, and therefore should merit a blast of energy from whoever is commentating. I'm trying to think of another 60 second-ish sport to compare commentary to, but i can't think of any right now. The Martin Tyler thing re Aguero is guff - he was talking nonsense up to the point that the ball was played through - getting lucky with something that becomes iconic is just that - luck. But to be fair, from a bloke who has commentated for perhaps 30 years on thousands of games, he has had enough years to build up a good style. Clearly, there are people who just don't like Pearson - like Big H said, lots of media outlets like him and they don't seem to be demanding that he changes his style...
  20. Perhaps because it's done on a season by season basis ? Anyway, you know everything about birmingham and their website don't you, so perhaps you can tell me ?
  21. More likely that AP Media and other companies involved became tired of taking the blame, and decided to let the webmaster go it alone. New website looks cracking by the way..
  22. The whole subject was reasonable 9 pages ago... but look where this argument is going now - everyone is fed up with it apart from you. You're aiming your ire at the wrong people - as i said to you before, get in touch with scb or even the speedway star. Whining on and on and on is only making you look daft now. If you are serious about this crusade, this pitiful thread is not doing you any favours whatsoever.
  23. Hallelujah How on earth this thread is even still going now, maybe 5 weeks after whatever his name started it is, is beyond me He said at the beginning that he had some time on his hands which started this whole quest - i suggest that if he still has such time at his disposal, maybe a local charity shop or community centre would benefit rather than bleating on here.
  24. Exactly...there is a big difference between passing an idle comment and, let's say for instance, naming someone or a place - basically something that could actually prejudge the case. Passing opinion means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Unfortunately, unless a website has some serious muscle behind it, they could easily buckle on something like this - even more so here, where it's not where it's not even the forum bods who are in control of the content, but ultimately a single bloke. I don't know Phil or any of the mods to my knowledge, but am sure what happened a couple of years ago was enough aggro then. Let's not repeat that eh.. On a personal level, as i came in to speedway, Michael Lee was banned for something - to be fair Gary Havelock was also banned at the time, but anyway...since then, my only real knowledge of Lee was a few two bob appearances at Reading, followed by another ban for something and then all this stuff... He was i'm sure a great rider, and a lovely guy, but to a 30 something bloke like me, (and with a lawyer girlfriend standing behind me with a Next directory ready to crack me round the head) i say this with no prejudicial influence (ahem...) he has certainly courted a fair deal of controversy throughout his life - and quite a bit this very year. I hope that justice is served no matter what...
  25. Philip... Once again, thank you, and i hope you do catch up with Per this weekend. Am sure that whilst chatting with him, this poxy forum is far from your thoughts, but if you run out of things to say, feel free to pass on that there are many many Racers fan who still think of him and wish him well these days. I really hope you pull off the deal to serialise his book. Tom
