  1. But not on this thread !! Christ almighty man..you need to get life, seriously. You've asked the question hundreds of time, anyone who ever gave a monkeys has long since moved on.
  2. Ahem..there are ways round it...surprised no one has spotted or mentioned the other one too
  3. Not sure how many under 16s read the forum in fairness - if you know many who do..well perhaps that's a little scary. My post contained swearing yes - if the mods want to pull it, then i actively encourage them to do that. But it wasn't swearing for the sake of swearing was it ? It was to enhance my point that the continued air fence safety agenda by one particular forum member has no place on this thread. I'm not even an IOW fan, but i want this to be their place to rally support and do what they need to do to keep the sport on the island. I'm a Reading fan, and believe me if this was a Save the Racers thread, there would be a lot more swear words for you to worry about.
  4. Sorry, but i've bitten my tongue long enough now. How many f.ucking threads are you going to hijack with your crap about data and air fences ? This is a thread for the Isle of Wight who are on the brink, and you're still trying to hijack it - forget your agenda, forget your sad-man-with-too-much-time-on-his-hands attitude - this is an IOW thread. Unless you're transferrring some of your pension to their fund, is it too much to ask that you leave this alone ? W to the anchor.
  5. And i'm sure he'll apologise for going off half cocked again...hmm, maybe not.
  6. That's a shame..i quite fancied a Dr Pepper Vanilla... shame i can't order it.
  7. Yeh yeh...you already told us the average age of a facebook employee was 26. By the way, did you join in the birmingham website debacle ? No probs if you didn't, just wanted to let you know your website has gone down tonight much like theirs..shame cos i fancied some american fizz in my life..
  8. Perhaps i havent seen all of his posts, but other than mentioning twitter and facebook, what "right sort of ideas" has he been floating ? Getting the magical 20 extra people to not only be interested, but want to come back every week off the back constant tweets and videos of track action is a fair old task. The type of people who could even be attracted by online viral marketing (not sure if thats the right term but hey ho) are the same kind of fickle souls who would no doubt wander away from the sport at the first rain off where they had a wasted trip through the turnstiles. The sport has problems, and yep i guess what it's getting what it deserves to an extent..but it aint gonna pay £15k, end of. If i was passionate young chap like Synikalle, i'd stick two fingers up to naysayers like me on here, and say screw it, i'll do it for free for a couple of months...and then when he's got his magical 20 extras through the gates on a regular basis, slap it all down on the desk of whichever lucky club he chooses to help and put a case forward for his £300 a week.
  9. Being ballsy is good, but come on seriously...apart from the financial side of things which has already been discussed by others far better placed then me...are we really expecting that constant updating of facebook, twitter, and running "competitions" could even possibly attract 20 new visitors a week ? Every week ? I'd personally like to see an example of the young chaps' work to see if he can put the, ahem, "fizz" back into the sport...
  10. Perhaps a change of username to something less google-able would be wise aswell..what is it with youngsters nowaday putting so much of themselves out on t'internet.? Silly silly silly..
  11. Could i ask when was it you actually approached the Bspa offering your services ?
  12. Perhaps not as much as you may think - i've only posted 462 times over the years apparently, yet have 123 likes...a massive 26% if my gcse maths are right. The moral of the story is you need to stop stirring...that's obvious.
  13. i think he went pretty close with those claims to be fair. I also think that his boasts of offering his services to the bspa in vain in years past probably rings true if he's as young as what i'm discovering. As a punter i would raise my eyebrows if the marketing of british speedway was at the hands of some kid from East Anglia. I'm young enough to know that the online world is the way to whip things up, but i think perhaps Syniwhatshisaface's approach to being a bit of a know all has slightly gone against him here. His speeches and analogies have the whiff of some old age old marketing bibles brought up to the 21st century. And he's also badly paid, so he cant be that good.
  14. Every single thread that i look at where you post always seems to end up the same way John..why is that ? Much like your post this week on the email group you had previously said you had left, this latest one here shows how you are just out to stir things up to keep yourself amused on these cold south london nights. If there is any news on Byron Bekker you'll find out when the season starts or just before i'm sure.
  15. Hmm maybe...but the job itself is worth more. To be honest, if they're that young with potentially only a few years in that industry, then their arguments on here come across as even more arrogant than they already do. My first job as a 16 year old brought home a tasty £40 a week...now i'm the best at what i do in what is effectively the same job, but am on a tad more than that.
  16. I did think the same thing, but he or she seems very passionate about their success in their field, so thought i best not bring it up a the risk of bursting their balloon.
  17. For someone who gets all excited over programmes, it's strange you didn't embrace the naffness to be fair. Comparing the sport to a football team entering the field is a bit daft. However, i CAN remember on one of my perhaps dozen trips to new york in winter time, the New York Rangers Nhl team being introduced in a not to dissimilar way. Perhaps not with the capes, but to be fair, they wouldnt have been needed in a near pitch black Madison Square Garden. Now thats a pretty major sports team. Anyway, i'll let the geeks carry on with this topic. Kind regards.
  18. Haven't we been here already ? Those capes were used as blackouts so that the riders wouldnt be seen til the spotlight came on. The slowness of a few riders made things look a bit daft, but in what world do you think they were going for a batman or dracula effect ? We had this conversation on the weekend after the gp. Nothing has changed.
  19. Sadly no. I discovered speedway as a punishment for throwing a bunsen burner at my science teacher Mr Cartwright and drawing a rather offensive slogan on the blackboard (i'm from belfast and he was from dublin). Thankfully it connected and i was suspended - later that same night night i went to Reading with a supposedly sensible friend of the family. We beat Kings Lynn..Todd Wiltshire scored a shed load from reserve..the rest is history.
  20. Was one of the blokes who name escapes me and the girl Jay.. Good drinkers and nice people. My older sister who remembered them in their heyday was laughably overwhelmed when she met me the following morning at Heathrow as we all stumbled off through arrivals hungover chatting like old friends..
  21. I'll see your Iron maiden and raise it with a Bucks Fizz.. I once got drunk in a bar at JFK with two of Bucks Fizz but sadly one of them wasn't Cheryl Baker..and that certainly doesnt make me a good singer.
  22. Well of course then everything's fine then!! He's hardly going to go on twitter and tell him to eff off back to his b&b is he ? By your fuzzy logic, does it mean that the riders that don't go on twitter to say how sorry they are to see him go, DID have a problem with him then ?
  23. Blimey, are you really that scared of losing your free entry to Poole next year ? Give it a rest mate.. Phil Morris seems to be a decent motivator to me, whether you like it or not - to me, there is a high number of british riders who come across as difficult to control, motivate, and are prone to sulks. But like how in football, managers put a metaphorical arm around them, inspire them, it can work in speedway too. I seem to remember either seeing or reading about golf days that the Birmingham riders had with the management in between meetings. Not everyone's cup of tea i'm sure, but clearly the team spirit was good in the camp, and results came in for the most part. Then when GB ride, they're suddenly riding for a man who pretty much pees everyone off through his constant chopping and changing, instantly demotivating pretty much everyone who he crosses swords with, and won't engage in anything remotely team-bonding esque because he thinks he's got enough years in the tank that he doesn't have to bother. Will be interesting to see if any "retired" former gb riders make themselves available now..
  24. I admit to bailing out for the last few pages, but i feel genuinely embarrassed for Starman for the most part of the thread i've seen here. I'm not sure sure i've seen someone stick up for someone, literally post by post, to the extent you have. Forget the fiver someone bet you earlier, i'll quite happily pin £250 to the riders ben fund that says that the next manager will do better than your hero. As for the last page i read, i seriously doubt Phil Morris would come on here to big up his credentials for being a manager - whats the point ? And why should he ? By the same token, there's nothing to be gained in Middlo coming on here to explain me bumping into him in a whorehouse is there ? Exactly...
  25. Many moons ago in the lovely old Pod Orlem in Bydgoszcz, during a very very liquid filled evening with Ole Olsen, Tony Steele, Jim Lawrence and good old Gunter Sorber, a good friend of mine suggested, at length, to Ole, about the possibility of the gp's running with with two starting gates on the home and back straights, running each heat as some kind of pursuit race, like they do in olympic cycling. To be fair, Ole and Gunter listened to him intently, and thankfully ignored everything he said. They went to bed not long after, and our time with them ended with one of our party nearly coming to blows with Lawrence. Good times
