Same here.. i found my original disc but it's screwed..

I've followed this from a distance while you and the other clever buggers have been working on this. Frankly am amazed at how you've all got so far with this.. i do hope it can be made available with the chance to donate a few beer tokens to say thanks. Cracking work gents.

Don't bring my favourite ever rider into this horror show you're having Gustix..
-
Seriously John, as others have rightly told you multiple times now, Terry Mussett rode plenty for them even i remember that... actually 80 odd matches according to a stats website i just checked. After which he came to my team Reading for a spell. He wasn't the best but that's irrelevant. You're getting silly again with a few of your posts recently aren't you.

Illegal Riding Zero Tolerance
The Doctor... replied to secsy1's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
True - The ones in outlying areas were panicked into expanding way beyond what was necessary early doors as no one wanted to listen to the info re who was genuinely at risk. Now they've got themselves in a tangle of being too cautious to convert units back to their original usage as still even now the guidance they are getting is muddled at best.. -

That's a bit sweeping. Many are most definitely not. -
Looks like Frank Varey to me.

It certainly was boss.. cracking day out that was.. wonder if that's on youtube somewhere aswell

By the starting gate at the very beginning.. hanging over the fence in my red arsenal top as a 13 year old..

Woah great find Ian. I haven't even got to the crash yet as i've spotted myself as a kid by the start gate right at the beginning of the clip and got myself a bit emotional.. will watch the rest now!

The 4TT final at Peterborough in 91 i think it would had a bad one that i thought it was the worst i'd seen. Wiltshire, Parker, Hancock and Matousek all came down on the back straight. Been trying to find it for a while but don't think classic speedway videos had it when i looked last. Was the one where Matousek threw a punch into the crowd after breaking his wrist. Wiltshire broken elbow aswell i think.

Cardiff 2020
The Doctor... replied to a4poster's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Not being mothballed at all. As said many times, the only reason it's not being used as much now is that so many hospitals in london had tripled and more their capacity, so most hospitals have coped with the flow to a point with the exception of Homerton, Whipps and Newham in the early to mid stages of the lockdown. Once elective surgery and clinics start to come back across london, the extra capacity that is currently available will disappear quick enough. As for Wales, they will be as susceptible down there no doubt once normal hospital traffic resumes, so i doubt the stadium will get off scot free as far as usage goes. -
Saw this on twitter earlier. Good on him. Wonder how many established riders like him are doing similar.

Will British Speedway Survive ?
The Doctor... replied to old bob at herne bay's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Speaking from a London point of view - , If we're at a shopping centre, pub, restaurant or any public event by mid June i'll be astonished. Had the locals not continually ignored guidance we might have had a chance, but no. Not a pups chance of football resuming here before maybe July or August, let alone something like speedway outside of town. Annoying, but reality i think. -

Wimbledon would be impossible to manage. So many general admission tickets and soc is would mean they couldnt sensibly queue or manage. 2m between each group in the queue would end up with folk in Leatherhead. And having required numbers of nhs and control staff on site just to manage a normal day would make it impossible. -
Bloody hell, thanks lol . May well have some credence Sadly there is a reason why this virus is hitting particular sections of the community harder in cities. As awful as it is to say, in the uk, south asians have particular medical historical issues that make them vulnerable. Here in south london and elsewhere, lots of people have sickle cell anaemia aswell, and they are massively at risk to this also. Crazy times

Thanks, tho that's referring to normal deaths no ? Or am i misreading it.
-
I'm very sure people didn't operate under the notion that no one died before this. Anyway, do you have a link to those figures in respect of geographical breakdown of the pneumonia numbers as i imagine there is no correlation between that and what we are experiencing here. I have to disagree re the worse flu season etc making these number of deaths less harsh - as mentioned before, the geographical split of the covid deaths is quite different to that of the flu ones, so even if the flu ones got off lightly this year, surely it's not a valid comparison when it's targeting a very different audience, so to speak.

My post was responding to Steve and regarding the thread being taken over by certain people . I'd rather not get into specifics with you as it's frankly tiring and it's my birthday, and yes i'm sure you can show plenty of facts to show the rates etc, but this isn't comparable in absolute terms when this has large geographical trends that aren't consistent with the last 5 years deaths for respiratory illness.
-
I'm trying to do that also ! One of the dominant voices on that thread lives out in the sticks in Portugal with far lower deaths, so can presumably be more calm and spend time trawling thru websites of stats and the like, knowing that he is in a very cushy position and won't get the virus knocking on his door any time soon. Sadly, that's not something that many people in the UK can be so sure about. Nearly 500 deaths across 4 hospitals within 10 mins drive of me is certainly enough to make a lot of people in my part of the capital jittery. Don't get me wrong, they're entitled to opinions etc, but it's easy to be calm and contrarian from a place of relative safety.

I always loved the Polish rider Szymon Kielbasa - Simon Sausage. What a name...

Not one with no cure from what i can remember.

Blimey yeh remember him and maybe his wife or sister from the speedway mailing list years ago. Sad news.

Will the premiership start on time?
The Doctor... replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It's not ridiculous. Not sure why you've even said about being big and clever also. Bit weird that. it's massively unlikely that the nhs will have the resources to even discharge the sja and other private firms that will be bailing us out up til probably late summer. i've had to cancel a few weekends away already so i'm gutted too, but it's the reality of the situation. If we're lucky to get a big individual meeting at each track before the clocks go back we will be doing well i think. -
st johns spend more time backing up LAS in london these days - realise might be different in other areas and trusts, just saying.
