Bit daft saying about things being acceptable at school Lisa - the kid who made the original comment would be dealt with, as without being addressed it would be seen as condoning threatening behaviour, no matter if the other person wasn't offended (citation - brother is head of pastoral care in a school and i've been bored many times listening to his stories similar to this).

I have to say, i hesitated to reply to lisa's post in case i'd missed some history so i held off - was astonished tho to see your name and bullying being mentioned in the same post. I've got the yearbook right here. He rode 4 matches in the gold cup, not as a guest. They then ran with guests and r/r right up to Henka coming in.

He rode in the gold cup at Smallmead definitely. Looks like he got injured in a gold cup match a few weeks later against oxford and they went with guests and r/r for ages afterwards.

Yeh that was it - my first ever speedway meeting was the gold cup match Reading v Lynn at Smallmead and that was the team. Still got the program.

Are you saying Jon Cook assaulted a rider then ? As someone else has already said, Martin Dugard isn't part of the promotion and he didn't trade punches with anyone from what i remember although he certainly was in the thick of it. Probably best to clear that one up maybe..

At the risk of being chastised by another forum member for my previous reply to you, where on earth have you got this notion about a hate campaign. The PA guy said nothing. They had two interviews. One with Jon Cook who said about riders with the surname as him not being happy to ride the track. Martin Dugard was interviewed aswell and said that two juniors had been practising during the day and if they were fine, then supposed gp class riders should be able to. How the hell is that a hate campaign ? The PA guy was totally fine, his guests were a tad immature, but that certainly wasn't a hate campaign.

I've only followed the sport since 1990 but i always remember alan grahame wearing a weird old mask and per jonsson and armando wearing very distinctive half face kinda mask helmet things in the 90 world final.. i know diddly about this kinda stuff, but was that a modern angle on the monkey masks ?

Yeh, think that was just said by him as a bit of filler for the interview - as you allude to, he's got far bigger hurdles to get over to get a work permit here any time soon tho.
