  1. At least the Danes have a bit of backbone and spirit; alas the Brits are really struggling, Bomber seems a nice kid but not with the killer instinct needed to get to the top of the tree...Nichols is just a bag of excuses really to roll out every time.....perhaps his biggest fan is right about him, begger?
  2. I was reading somewhere that if either of the Brits get injured then Lee Richardson is next in line to replace them
  3. Andersen N. Pedersen Hancock Crump Hampel Zagar Holta Adams Jonsson Gollob Lindback B. Pedersen Nicholls Jagus Harris A tough year for the brits and a 'new' World Champion
  4. What would cause a stir for 2008 would be if Bomber manages to score more 'GP points' than Nicholls but neither of them qualify in the top 8. Will Nicholls give up his demand for a place in favour of the future of British speedway? Will he buggery.. Here's to 2008 with Simon Stead and Chris Harris representing GB and the likes of Nicholls, Loramski and Richardson a mere distant memory....
  5. Can see Team GB sticking Richardson at reserve for that reason, not
  6. Well interesting debate reading the thread.... seems to me... 1. Nichols is very lucky to get a wild card 2. Sub seems not too keen on his talent 3. The scoring is a bit flawed, but so was the previous system however it occured to me if Nicholls was Finnish, then this whole debate wouldn't have happened....Nicholls is geting favoured as he's a Brit no doubt about it and whether he's be there on merit is well open to interpretation. Anyhow, its livened up the last hour reading this thread, so cheers Sub and cheers to the people who feel the 'need' to protect Scott's reputation....does he really need it?
  7. Speedway at the seaside is a total non-starter. Look how successful Skeggie was recently...
  8. He always used to scrap the fence on bend 4 as well.....not unlike a lot of our foreign inports in the period....Johnno was a nightmare when he first started although he preferred to get close to the fence on the second bend, usually on lap 1 too
  9. Didn't George Stancl's dad ride for Coventry in the 70s? Jiri Stancl....
  10. The whole argument will be solved when 'eddie' gets the nomination and leaves Scott to sit it out for the season does anyone know when the nominations are to be made?
  11. I fully agree with you, there's something a amiss in the world of speedway, how the sport is wrestled back is another matter
  12. If Nichol's did miss the series (07) then would Sky still be pushing the sport as they have been? No GB representative in the GP would have quite a few viewers turning elsewhere and thats the last thing Sky want and as they seem to call the tune. Expect him in, no doubt and possibly a second GB rep too.
  13. No great shocks in that list, except perhaps Lee Richardson being so high? It occured to me that the US will disappear off the world stage once Greg hangs up his helmet
  14. Back to the riders roster, as Scott seems to have the British nomination stitched up, its unlikely we'll get a second rep (unless of course Eddie gets it) so there's not much hope for the future of British riders in it is there? I'd love to see us go back to the old style, one off final as the current system is set up to maintain the 'few' at the expense of the 'many', and is what is wrong with speedway generally, all TV driven as per football but without the money pumped in.
  15. the current situation is a nightmare.....after all how many new riders are there year on year (very few) as the current system is set to maintain their places. I'd go for Top 6 as a right 1 U21 champion 1 nominated rider (for local interest) the other 8 from the challenge. Challenge field made up of 10 current GP riders 6 nominations from federations 16 qualifiers via rounds 2 semi's - to get 16 for challenge. That way the young up and coming riders have a chance of getting their by their own efforts and not via the politics route.
  16. Chris did as well as I expected him too, despite the big build up on here. The Danes were the best team so live with it and the southern based British fans showed themselves up yet again. Nothing changes...but don't expect anything to do in future years.
  17. Decisions been made and Middo has bothered to explain his decision and the reasons for it ; for all to see and beyond his responsibilities so perhaps now we can stop the bickering for a bit and get behind the Brits ; you'd all be shocked and pleased if young Mr Kennett pulls out a performance and qualifies wouldn't ya? As for the future of British speedway, there is talent out there but too much of it is lost due to the pressures put on them by fans, management and the media to perform. Rant over
  18. To be fair to Richardson, he doesn't deserve to get a nomination does he? so going through the qualifiers is his only realistic way of a future in the Grand Prix , but alas he's going to come up short yet again.
  19. Loram is past it - Richardson is probably not good enough to stay in...Nicholls should be ok - of the rest Steady and Harris are too in-experienced , Norris, Screen and ??? are past it.. Admit it on current status if GB have one representative in the GP its all they deserve...
  20. The Brits would have struggled in that second semi-final...they had by far the easier group to qualify from... Poland and Australia to qualify....should make for a hard final !
  21. Last night on Sky, they were talking about Ole Olsen being a previous danish world champion, they reeled off a list, Gundersen, Jan O Pedersen, Nicky Pedersen but didn't mention Han's the Professor. Whats they done wrong to be shunned in such a way?
  22. they can hardly change the rules to suit 'Tony R' can they? the ref already did his deputy a huge favour in a earlier heat by excluding the wrong rider... anyone would think he 'run' the sport the way they bend over for him...
  23. this new format is much better - I used to get bored watching the Brits disappear by race 12 This way they get 5 races at least - as long as TR doesn't blast away the opposition again - the first GP was a bit predictable after his first race
