It would help this forum and its readers if the postings went through a spell checker.I can barely understand some of the posts !!!!. The area which needs to be addressed is the assesment of riders to be considered for an upgrade.Youth Riders develop at different times both physically and the ability to ride on the shale. It has been too easy to get the upgrade and riders should have to prove themselves more. That said, its up to the parent to protect their child/rider and decide what size of machinary to use for the best. I have said before the 250 speeds will be the same as the 500 so the accidents will not get any less. It is a dangerous sport and allowing 4 riders out on track with a vast difference of skill levels will always be risky.

I sold the plug caps and If you cant believe it I sold 185 Items in 2 weeks after a garage clearout. The plug caps in question yes there were 3 of them retailed at £7.25 delivered and they were brand new.I got £4.20 for one and £4.70 for the other. The E Bay bidders are not forced to hit the bid button so how can you blame the sellers. Not everyone lives in close proximity to the shops and getting items delivered is the only way to go.I live in a village where even in todays world we get two buses a week to the nearest big town 23 miles away !!!. All my income from the sales has gone towards upgrading machinary and keeping my 12 year old on a speedway bike. Last season we and many others travelled the whole country to do the under 15's and not one penny was recieved in financial help. The hardest one to accept was a mad 420 mile round trip dash to Hull after school on a Wednesday for a second half meeting and because two premier team riders had an accident we got one ride.Thats about £80.00 it cost me. -
Academy League Final
morganbike replied to Wildcat Steve's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
As with last years Newport Classic, Tim said there are not enough daylight hours to run Two meets and thus only had the four riders doing second halves. Yes it could be run on a training Sunday but surely the riders paying £35 for the day would loose 2 hours track time whilst the acad match is run ?.Would they bother to turn up for shortened training sesion. ?. Im not to sure if a promoter can charge the public an entry fee to watch a training session or Acad league/under 15's on its own,so how do you police the admission ?. -

Jack was originally in a team called the RAMS but the number of teams had to be reduced. Quote: Oaks Due to the cancellation of the workington match due to withdrawl of riders it has been decided to reduce the number of teams to 5.This will provide a pool of stand by riders to fill gaps left by withdrawls. Thus the Rams were disbanded. The buffalo and Cobras have had the same teams since the ammendment. Adam Wrathall is injured so Matt Bates will be the obvious choice to take on Joe Reynolds. This makes the teams as even as possible. With regard to the running of this at Brighton, The SCB stated that the Under 15's/Academy meets must be run in front of the public and preferably alongside another meeting.Costs woud escelate to run this meet on its own due to the track hire/medical. This is why Newport Acad fixtutre was cancelled when the Southern Track Riders were there as they do not run under the SCB. Credit to Oaks for making it happen. It will be a great experience for the riders to ride at Brighton as was Cardiff. Phil -
Interesting Development
morganbike replied to Neil H's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Daniel thought it was a great little engine but didnt have start line grunt or any power left on the over rev to get you out of trouble. It had to be ridden flat out and suited the small water logged Buxton track. When geared for a large track in the dry it would struggle big time. The standard set up was fine but the chasis is too big for an under 11 year old.Vaclav Verner said jawa have no intensions of making a junior chassis so RTS or JHR etc would have to make one for small riders.Daniel is 12 and a half and can just ride an adult chassis.Joe Haines still rides a JHR junior chassis at 14 yrs old. Its a great step up from 125 but as we discussed at the track there will still be no-where to ride it competatively unless you want to go out on your own or are riding/training with someone who has one, as mixing of classes is not allowed !. This is the problem with the 350 as Daniel and George found out.You can go to do 2nd halves but have to ride round on your own. It is a reliable engine and if introduced into any competition it should be run as standard and no tuning allowed.Hard to enforce but maybe carb inserts can be used to keep the power the same for all the engines. I would advise someone to buy one if they are finding a 500 too much or have never been on a 500 no matter how old they are. Would we buy one NO.Its a step backwards from what we set out to do.Ride a 500.Even if the under 15's changed to 250 for next season for some bizzare reason I still would not have one. Are they any safer than a 500 NO.Riding speed is still as fast and this is not the solution/answer to help prevent accidents happening to youth riders. Phil -
JOE HAINES; Well Done Joe its great to see you up there and still have another two years to win it ! Joe is 15 next September so has one year left in the Championship. You have to be under 15 in March to participate so he will be 15 and a half in March 2007.

Round 6 Under 15's British Championship
morganbike replied to morganbike's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Certainly, IN MY OPINION Sheffield is what I call a 3 B's track. You need no BRAINS, big BALLS and an endless BANK balance to go that fast week after week. The motors and set ups used by riders at Sheffield are useless elsewhere and so you need one bike for that track. The motors will need more regular services and when one blows there at high revs it is likely to cost a lot to fix. The chances of an injury ruling the rider out for a long period of time are higher than at other tracks due to the higher racing speeds. The learning curve and progression of a young rider at sheffield will take longer due to the inability to experience how to turn a bike tightly and controll the wheel spin to jump out of slow speed corners.Blaster tracks can't give you this. ETC ETC Would this suit a 15 year old on £5.00 a point ?. Of course there are riders who have been succesfull starting out their and Ben Wilson is the most recent. He can ride the smaller tracks away from home but has learn't on the sheff training track!. Luke Priest learn't from Grasstrack before he went their a while ago. Im sure many will disagree with me but it's my view on the track. -
Woody, Im sure the colours were changed to represent the 4 coloured buttons on the sky remote. This then makes betting possible through SKYBET. Phil

Round 6 Under 15's British Championship

As with Auty, Machin can keep close eyes on many good riders but it is common knowledge they would be fools to commit to the sheffield track at an early age. Phil -

Round 6 Under 15's British Championship
morganbike replied to morganbike's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Spin King What is there to say ! Joe has beeen on youth grasstrack since age 6 and is without doubt the best youth rider we have seen for years. He has always been 2 years in age behind Auty and 1 year behind Taylor but has comfotably beat them at most meets. He has many wins under his belt both in the UK and at International level in France. He is he 2005 British Inters youth Grasstrack Champ. The most pleasing part of his domineering display at Sheffield is that his Sponsors were present and have made the dedication to support him more. This internet world we live in does not give justice to those that are hid behind the scenes and fortunately he has proved his worth. Not many of the riders are computer aware and Certain kids are hyped up to the hilt on this and other forums by Adults who are only looking at second half riding at their home tracks but the youth speedway scene is a fast growing devolpement and narrow mindness from certain individuals promotes youth riders in an unfair way. I find it hard to understand how you can say you know nothing about Joe.The SPEEDWAY STAR is the only magazine that publisizes the Race Results throughout the UK.He is in there week in week out in the grasstrack section, as are many of the under 15's who ride on the grass so maybe its time you and many others took time too read about these youngsters in the grasstrack section !. Turning down an invitation to ride at the venues is NOT the problem. We all knew the Team line ups, Dates and Venues a long time ago. Like I said, 'Main problems encountered this season are that riders are pulling out of meets at last minute and thus leaving Pete with the impossible task of filling places at short notice.' He can easily bring in a guest or similar if enough time is given by the rider who wants to pull out.The league matches and teams were allocated so that those who live nearest to the set venue get the offer to ride there. Don't forget if the public are entertained and the promoter is impressed then the series will be invited back again. Some don't realise how hard it is to get frequent rides and are not as dedicated as they should be. Yes as you say 'some of these under 15 meetings have been too far for some to travel to, eg Glasgow on a Sunday evening, parents have to get to work on Monday, not to mention the petrol all that way for 2 rides!' Is that going to change when they reach 15 and are in conference ?.There is plenty of time out of season to to sit at home and get to work on time. These are oportunities any upcoming hopefull youth speedway rider cannot afford to miss out on at any cost. At over 50% of meets my son has attended he has been offered 5 litres of fuel,1 litre of oil and occasionally a tyre for free. What more could they wish for or expect, 15p a mile and £5 a point !. -

No connections to BSPA would mean personal rider insurance is neccessary which would cost the earth.Imagine being sued for hurting a fellow rider or track staff/member of public !.What insurance company would cover a 12 yr old on a 500 speedway bike ?.An amature system still would not overcome the fact that there are very few places to ride competatively. -
The Glasgow academy league match has been rescheduled for Sunday 11th.Here's the teams as of today from Peter Oakes. Bulls 1 Ben Taylor 2 Rickylee Beecroft 3 Ben Hopwood 4 Daniel Greenwood 5 Sean Paterson Dinosaurs 1 Shane Waldren 2 Gary Irving 3 Joe Haines 4 Ben Johnson 5 Richard Franklin

I think the yellow only colour was introduced for 2005 so the Just released BSPA site is out of date already as is the ACU site !.

SWINETOWN- Do you not know that Ronnie and his brother are buisiness men and own lots of assets in the speedway world ?. Forgive me if i am wrong but I am sure Ronnie owns Swindon and he aquired this via a deal done with Peter Toogood at the start of 2004.He then apointed/enlisted the team manager Alun Rossiter to run the elite team and Martin Satchell in conference (which unfortunately only lasted 1 season).Prior to this Oaks and Toogood opened the small training track before every premier/conference match to the youngsters at 6.30 pm.They then had 45 minutes of small track training pre-meeting and there were 15 to 20 lads giving it the max. Then post racing there was 2nd halve racing up till 10pm.Oakes was there to do it all. Toogood went to somerset and Rosco then closed all sessions when they went Elite and will not let the kids out.Ronnie could allow the start of training sessions again. In my opinion,If you want to make a point 'Dont approach the monkey but go direct to the Organ grinder' Swindon conference do not run anymore because they loose money at the public gate figures and the price now asked by the riders per point scored.Rosco's comments on this are made public in Speedway Star some time ago.He said'THE GOING RATE FOR A CONFERENCE RIDER WAS £5 A POINT'and all the current riders laughed at him. Where did Rosco start out riding at ?.He rode at SWINDON as mascot. But now he can't be bothered to carry on where his predicesors left off. They are not interested in developing the future riders. -
