British Under 15's Championship 2007
morganbike replied to Gaj2003's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Ok that was comfortable, Martin, As a friend and experienced Dad your posts as usual are very acurate and to the point.Yes you are correct in that Oakes has his hands full this year.BUT he is capable of mastering all his commitments if the entries to events stimulates his ego. The BSPA will not find anyone who has the history and commitment that Peter has.He brought Crump and Sully into our world and at Peterboro and Swindon was a master.Coventry is his Latest conquest with Oxford getting near and traveling with the euro under 18's and 21's who have done well this year has taken its toll.Laurence has said that he will offer to run the under 15,s next year but its not that we need a new organiser we need the entries. To sumarise the lack of entries to the 2007 Under 15's has not been great and does not stimulate the organiser. p'boro lad I only mentioned Adam as you were the No No on the 250/500 mix and you still have not told me why you think that a 14 year old should not be allowed to ride both classes. Answers please. Tom, I am correct and as you are a novice then I will re-explain. The add in the Star as in all years is something like this. All riders who wish to compete in the British Under Fifteens Championship 2007 are to apply to Oakes at +++++ etc etc Did you apply.? If so it is up to the organiser to invite riders to the events. Remember that if you are planning a rebelion which you were, you may be ommited !!! Neil, Mexico is hot and humid and Tom why would I pay his air fair ? Comparison Please.I have been there. The Taco's and Enchilada's are good and the Corona with the worm will give your pecker a lift. Your comments on rider ability are true in the Junior league and its not always the best or fastest lappers that go thru untill you get paid for it.Then they will adopt the best rider.Thats life and true.the academy league when you get there will bring this home. Since meeting you I have no doubt about your 10 years experience in the speedway world but Dan and I have already entered it and can cope fine thanks. The money does not pay for expenses but he can grab an icecream and the odd mc donalds now and then. How is it that the Stoke assesment was blown out the window and we now have guys on 500,s in the under 15's .2nd time of asking????? Finally for ths post Remember this is a forum for open speech and do not be afraid to post as the feedback will bring the youth riders like Shane, Ashley,Mark,Adam,Rhys,Chris etc the acknowlegement they deserve. -
British Under 15's Championship 2007

Do not bite the hand that feeds you.You are all riding high on your 250's but when it comes down to moving up to 500's remember the under 18's, under 21's, Cardiff invites,Brighton invites,Junior European and World competition are all run by Peter. This year was no different to others and in March/April as usual, all riders who wanted to take part in the 2007 Championships should contact Pete and register their interest. The difference for 07 being that the 250 was introduced and a championship was to run alongside the 500's. However the initial interest was poor and only two 250 entries were recieved named Greenwood and Hazelton. The initial 500 lineup was down to very few entries and this caused serious concern. Johnson Norton Greenwood Sargeant Meakins Franklin Butler Bint Forgive me if you were missed out Therefore the championship was put on hold and the bad weather delayed things further. The tracks were not booked as not enough entries to run both championships were recieved. However I can now in OCT name 14 250 riders who were on 250 at the start of the season so why did you not enter ?. As Pterboro lad (Mark) says its a no no for riders to do 250 and 500 championships did that put you all off ? At both rounds, the enforced Stoke assesment day/must be 14 to ride a 500 rules have been binned with Garrety, Hazelton,Wolves Mascot,Dale lamb, etc etc taking to 500 to make up the numbers. The back stabbing and arguments that took place at cardiff between the 250 boys created a bad atmosphere within the camp and this was relayed to the top. As my son will still be 14 in 08 I am worried that the under 15's will cease to run and I only hope that the Academy league wil continue to allow competative racing to take place. This years academy league has been a huge success and the riders that have been involved have made hige steps. Look at Kyle Newman,Ollie Gay,Alex Mc Loud,Dan Greenwood,John Reich. etc As far as blaming the BSPA for your problems then they have no controll over the promoters and clubs. You are Junior riders so they will treat you so. On Sat I saw Jake Night and another riding a 500 at Rye House. This is the clubs policy on developing riders and if the academy league goes ahead in 08 then they have riders ready to compete. Call me a brown nose or whatever I don't care. You should not blame Oakes for your own misinterpretations.Step into the real world of speedway racing or stick in your own breakaway group. PAT- I told you on the way to Redcar last year Chris would benefit from riding the 250. MARK- I have not seen Adam ride since last January why have you not been around the scene. -

I visited the Training Track recently and this is what I observed. The Training Track has been lent to Workington Speedway who are running the event.Workington Speedway have invested moneys to bring the track up to spec so it can be used as a SCB official training track as with Reading Scunny etc.As Sheffield did not want to invest it was closed down !! Red Lights,Christmas tree,Refs Box,etc have all been supplied by Working ton Speedway and the track was inspected and given the thumbs up. As the club will not be charging for competitors to enter the gate moneys are to pay for the Paramedics Ambulance Trophys Permit etc etc. The track is being made larger on turns 1 and 2 after the under 15's event and will include a banking that will make the little track ride faster.Obviously a little extra money in the kitty will help pay for the digger and shale. A track Spares van in the shape of Grandad Little (Kevins Dad) will be present along with a burger van for you fatties. Overall impressions are that this is the best training facility in the country and to master this track is not easy but it will teach the youngsters all they need to know. Its a pity it is so far away for many although once your jockey has ridden on it you become hooked. The last 40 miles once off the M6 seems to take ages with Caravans and Hikers all taking in the superb scenery.Look for the Wind Farm as you get near.Bring your Hats and and gloves as it is on the coast and will get cooler as the day wears on. Judith who runs the track and her staff are warm and friendly so be sure to meet them all and thank them for their efforts. See you all Sunday. Phil and Dan Greenwood -
British Under 15's Championship 2007

According to Peter Oakes The 2007 Under 15's British Championship has not been cancelled and Dates for forthcoming rounds will be released soon. -
You can ride a 250 from your 11th birthday up to and including the year in which your 16th birthday falls. ie Under 15 years of age on Jan 1st. But you can upgrade from a 125 at age 9 and 10 to a 250 only upon satisfactory completion of an SCB/BSPA assesment course. To compete in an official SCB/BSPA under 15's meeting /Academy match/Training session the 250 must be a Laydown JAWA engine. To take part in second halves and training days any 250 machine can be used. Not sure if Tom wants laydown Jawas only.

British Under 15's Championship 2007
morganbike replied to Gaj2003's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
As in previous years I am sure the riders top three scores will go to the final. This allows riders to miss the odd round and still be in contention of a good final result. Certainly Peter has his hands full at the moment but I don't see anyone else stepping in to run the championship. Mistakes will happen and even Dan was due to ride in an academy match on the Friday. I am sure a compromise will be made and riders with commitments will have to wait for more news. -

No one knows whos riding til we get there at the moment. -
As you said yourself you watched the SEVEN of them. Makes sense to put a 4 man team out and bringing him in at short notice due to an injury to a rider makes sense and evens up the teams.

Great to hear all went well on the night. Why didn't 250 Cardiff winner Shane Hazleton ride ? Phil

Thanks Neil, Same bike but thanks to Andy at Subspecies for Sorting out some covers, guards etc for the event. Dan

U15s Assessment For Academy League
morganbike replied to rabbit's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Daniel Greenwood wil ride for Coventry when he is 14 in June. Passed today with flying colours. Some of the theory questions had some funny answers but all riders who attended had a great time and lots of on track practise finishing off with some racing from the tapes (bungy strap). Weather was perfect and Dave kept the dust down with a light sprinkle every half hour which was safest.Air Fence filled riders with confidence and 10/10 for the 250 rider who was on the gas all day despite a few hicups which lead to some grasstracking and nearly running Mr Reeve over as he assessed him. !!!!! Monty looked super smooth and great to see the Girl going for it.Jessica Lamb watch out. Phil and Dan -
500 Or 250 For 2007 Championship ?
morganbike replied to morganbike's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
This may change when your official Jawa improrter gets the nudge from Jawa to promote and sell 250 engines in oz. At the moment Jawa do not make these engines all the time and are making a new batch for 07.If they wish to break into the oz market then they will have to influence and convince the oz governing bodys that this is the best and safest option for 11 to 14 yr olds. It has happened here in the UK and we all wait anxiously for the 2007 rules and regulations. We do however have both youth and adult grasstrack classes of 250cc which the Jawa is becoming the engine most want to ride. We will always have the two smoke boys but the lastest 4 stroke Moto X engines are expensive and will only fit in a specialised chassis whereas the jawa 250 just replaces the 350 and 500 engines already being used in laydown chassis so making it a cheaper option -

Ccm Youth Cup
morganbike replied to Parsloes 1928 nearly's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
I have no problem in accepting this series apart from the backing and price. The youth Speedway which is already well established needs more backing for promotion of the sport, training days and anything that will bribe promoters/trainers to get the lads out on track more. The cost includes the riding gear which any grass/speedway rider already has. This gear will only fit for one season due to the fast growth of 12 to 15 yr olds.Entry fees I accept and the resale value of machine after 2 years will be around 40% by speedway standards. I would rather buy my son a new bog standard Jawa speedway bike for £3000 than spend £2500 for 7 meetings a year. That said I do feel it is aimed at newcomers who do not have a speedway influence or those that have money to spare. It would certainly entice road racers if a winter series was to run. -
Denmark Under 15's
morganbike replied to morganbike's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Yes I totally agree our Winter practise is available as our climate is warmer maybe.Distances travelled though are neccesary and cost is high.Rain the last month has put a stop to 50% of practise venues but Redcar and Scunthorpe seem to succeed each week. Its 175 miles to Scunny and 215 to Redcar one way so the riders below the midlands area will struggle.Newport is popular and has been hit by bad weather along with the Oxford plans.Buxton is ideal for training but the weather is hit and miss.Roll on April. -
Denmark Under 15's
morganbike replied to morganbike's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Iris, I new you would be the first reply on this one !.How proud you must be as a nation.I am very envious of these figures and would love my son to be around this many riders at any event.Well done to the German youth organisers. Phil -
I counted 48 riders Peter Oakes stuggles to get 12 riders in the british under 15's 2006.Fair Play they are on 500's What will 2007 produce.Today Belham has ONE 250 laydown engine left till April 07.People are flocking to buy them NOT. I can name around 10 under 15's for 2007 speedway Championships on 250 and 500. Take a look at the danish lign up.We should be the leading nation. Why Coz they all flock here to ride. The promoters and track owners do not care about the youth in this country.I am throwing thousands of pounds at youth speedway and can't even get a guarenteed saturday winter practise. Should I be setting up camp in Denmark and buying a 80cc bike with a mechanic to look after it.Then Fly out every weekend to practise for 8 hours on Sat and Sun. Why has Lee Richardson got his stuff on E -Bay ? How embaresing. The British leagues will be full of foreigners soon and how many times have you watched sky on Monday and gone Oh rubbish they are all forein riders on both teams. British promoters YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED. LOOK HERE http://www.worldspeedway.com/artman/publis...ticle_420.shtml

500 Or 250 For 2007 Championship ?
morganbike replied to morganbike's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
The 80cc and such like two smokes have to be fazed out for euro polution reasons. All the countries involved have agreed that the 250 is the way to go to replace the 80cc junior world championship. Motocross bikes have already started the transition and Honda say as of next year they will stop any further development of their two smokes. Without the 500 in british under 15/16's Champs how is the 14 year old going to get that race experience that has proved to be succesfull over the last three years ? The upgrade to 500 once the rider is capable (new rules say minimum age 14) is Ok but where do they compete for the year to train for the conference league at 15. -
500 Or 250 For 2007 Championship ?
morganbike replied to morganbike's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Totally agree but the fazing out of the 80cc two smoke world speedway championship is the aim behind the Jawa 250. I am sure we will see the Junior World Championship for 10 to 16 yr olds on Jawa 250's only using standard untuned parts being introduced over the next 2 years. At the moment any country can enter the 80cc champs but not so with the 250 unless they change their rules. How would a 13 year old rider restricted to a 125 in his home country prepare for an asault on the world champs on a 250?. Yes the same structure worldwide is the aim but I only hope that they restrict entrys to non contracted riders only.Imagine riders aged 15-16 which make up 25% of the UK conference league buying a 250 and entering !!!. -
500 Or 250 For 2007 Championship ?
morganbike replied to morganbike's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Lee, are you telling me that Wuffy and Martin never rode a 500 til they came to uk ?. Aus rules state that they are not allowed to race in a speedway meeting but they can still ride a 500 during closed sessions or at a mates back yard track.Scandanavia is the same. The tracks are open every day and closed sessions are easy to pay for.Did Risager (coventry) wait till he came to the Uk for a 500 ride ?.Doubt it he's only 16 or 17 now and in the Elite. These 500 riders now cought up in the 14-15 age group with nothing to do (my son Daniel included) were not forced onto 500.Each one was thrashing around on a 125 week after week many times on their own and going stale. The 250 was not around back then and Daniel even went 350 for a year but the 500 was not harder to ride. If we had 15 up and coming 14 year olds on 500 then the 07 under 15's 500 would go ahead. The problem is we only have 6 or 7 so if Pete can get these riders to down grade and join the current 250 riders then we will have enough to hold the championship. The resale value on the 250 motor will be good but somehow I can't see it doing the likes of Titch Franklin and such like any good at all.
