  1. Yey - Top 40 place. Thought at one stage I would be in the Loosers cup for Germany. Not bad for my first year!! Thanks Steve. Im in for 2008
  2. hehehe - you didnt quote. Now your post looks silly
  3. You are joking. He nearly needed mouth to mouth when he got on the train!!! Good job he didnt as we asked for volunteers and everyone moved to the next carriage!!!
  4. The event is brilliant. The racing is fun. Dont go expecting stylish racing, its more about grit wobble and gutsy performances. But it has never set out to be anything else. Its a Christmas party and a great get together. That isnt meant to be a negative, I love Brighton but still need to persude my daughters to attend this year. So anyone out there who knows them, please put a bit of pressure their way.
  5. I hope they have learnt some lessons as the stadium was great but getting in and the beer thing was terrible. Our entrance was actually closed and we were directed to the next entrance. It was heaving and very slow to get in. Then when you scan your ticket the turnstile moves so quickly it smacks you on the a*se and throws you in. You then have work out, albeit to late for some, that you have to go to the ladies or gents security section to get body checked!! As for getting the tokens - I couldnt be bothered with two queues so in the end they ended up with none of my euro's. But nice stadium and the transport system was spot on. They even had extra trams lined up to ope with the demand. And it was FREE
  6. Arrived home last night tired but reasonibly happy. A good weekend away but as everyone has said - not the best of racing. Nt sure what was seen on TV but I did enjoy watching the Champions parade before the meeting. I know TV viewers wouldnt have seen it live as Shazzybird was texting me in a complete frenzy. Something about Rugby league being on and she was demanding speedway!!!!! But it was great to see them all and very interesting that the first standing ovation came for Mark Loram . At least that was the way it appeared from where we sat. Numbers were much higher than we were led to believe. Yes there were gaps and of course 1 complete area not used, but overall better than at first thought. Right Said Fred - oh so wrong. Not only due to the lack of knowledge in their music but for the 48 hours of singing - Stand Up for the Champions!!!!! I cant get it out of my head!! And then there was the meeting itself. I thought they tried to get a Cardiff atmosphere going which in my opinion didnt quite work. Strange how the whole stadium lights remained on all the time. I had expected the lights to be dimmed and the track to be bright. And the racing - hmmm - think its all been said And finally..... trip home via Brugge - Yummy!! and Eastenders Booze store at Calais , Im now stocked up but funny the people you meet in a place like that.
  7. Practice must be due to start soon. Anyone up for a game of - 'Name that rider'!!!! Frozen frames of riders coming out for practice - could be fun!!!
  8. LOL Agree Chivs. Last year I had a number of rooms booked in two locations. (My daughter wanted one hotel, I wanted another) They were organised for our group of friends in order for us to be where we wanted. I didnt randomly book to annoy other people. In the end I ended up with a couple spare. How was I to know people would divorce or have ilness!! But these were offered here on the forum and taken by forum members! This year I have just what I need in the Lodge. My firends have had to fend for themselves. Its a bit like tickets - If you want to be together - 1 person does the booking.
  9. You taking a slow drive then. We setting out tomorrow evening - 10pm and hope to be in Gelsenkirchen for breakfast Saturday morning!! Only problem we now have to contend with is 100's of Englishman heading into Paris in the hope of finding a ticket for the Rugby final. And there was me thinking 1am train would be very quiet and relaxiing!!!!
  10. Well if that is true and I hope not - does this now mean one of the reserves will take the ride. surel too late to call another rider in. Smoli Smoli Smoli
  11. I have changed the name of the thread!!! So Rory remains King Of Brandon. Who will the claim the title - Diamond Jubilee Brandonapolis Champion!! Really catchy!
  12. Thanks Haywood I feel happier knowing that. We book flights and hotels so early I would be really annoyed if they changed things
  13. Got to see where they all are first!!!! Some suprises me thinks. But Cardiff will always be on the list!
  14. I dont reckon its all down to members though - Travel Plus are advertising on another thread that they have a large number of rooms for sale. I guess that could be where many have gone!!!
  15. That will do for us!!! As for the 'bib'. Go to 'My Controls' at the top (or near the top) of the page - right handside. From there you'll get instructions along the left handside. Change Avatar I think - then see if you can do it from there.
  16. Thats where we will be. It was a bit strange last year due to the weather. There were groups scattered around at tables all over the pub. Normally we all end up outside in the gap bewteen the pub and WHS.
  17. Hang on Shazzy - DO you know Scarsy?? Are they the sort of person we want in our hotel. Get your CV to us as soon as possible please
  18. Our hats may be pink but they are a little different for this meeting. If you spot us you will recognise us - I promise With thanks to swerve racewear for their support!!!
  19. oops - if it doesnt work out, let me know and Ill text you each heat as you stand outside listening to us all cheering!!!
  20. You know, I didnt know that. Whay didnt I know that!!! Not the bit about Howe of course!!!
  21. Hazzman - it looks like they have. I went onto See Tickets last night and despite being informed that they wouldnt get anymore £30 tickets they seem to have more for sale again. And not just the singles as they were coming up with before. I asked for 4 tickets and it said yes. I guess I can cope with the additional £15 pr ticket we paid but I would be rather p***d off if I wanted a £30 ticket and ended up with a £75. Very bad form from IMG as far as Im concerned - sell out of limited tickets of all values then add in some more -RIP OFF!!!
