Rabs - Im doubt Billy J will be there. At Coventry dinner dance tonight his girlfirend spoke about going over to the States next week for 3 months. So unless Billy plans on coming back over to the UK and leaving her in America it looks like he is a no - goer. Unless of course he is planning such a trip. You never know with the sober -one!!!

Pards Your hotel choice seems to be some way outside of the main city. We use Trip Advisor for all our planning and it may be worth you looking at: see here It would appear your hotel is not the best reviewed. Ideally you are looking for a hotel in OLD TOWN or WENCELAS SQUARE. Prague is divided into sections and you are looking at PRAGUE 1 for your main central location. Also if you can book everthing independantly that sometimes works out cheaper. Queen Bee and I had a hotel booked last year (Ramada I think!?) and as we got closer to the GP the price of the room kept dropping. So we kept cancelling and re-booking - saved ourselves nearly £100 I think. Hope that is helpful Sandie

Only if it looks like the winner will be someone the BSI wants at a GP!!!! Sorry - the cynical side of me is at it again!!!!! -

It will certainly make the wait for who will be the Cardiff wildcard a little more interesting!!!! -

Sorry Bazaar - I seem to have missed this. Where does it say he has turned them down. Cause based on that I assume if Hancock decides to retire or Holta does not return I guess he wont accept the aditional place. Whereas the original list seems to indicate he is on standby. Why put him on standby IF he has already sadi NO -
New Year Classic
Sandie replied to hawk's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Sorry to interpupt this postie love-in - shouldnt you just say it in a letter!!! Blazeaway, Im sure you have either seen the line up or maybe attended the NYC and as such you will understand that Tim didnt exactly go for the high average, highly paid riders (sorry Bomber!!) and I really enjoyed the rawness of the New year Classic. As the January meeting is now to be a Champions (or something like this) meeting I used this analygy to highlight the difference between the two meetings. I have not picked on anyone in particular obviously as I havent heard any line up yet. Just my opinion -
New Year Classic
Sandie replied to hawk's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Because Lisa when the tender was put out for the January meeting the future of Newport was still in doubt. I am not a great supporter of a meeting being at Poole. Not because its Poole but because Newport IS a Premier club - slightly rough at the seems and an up front, stand by the fence touch and feel meeting (shale in hair etc). Pooles meeting will be yet another manicured event where polite applause and over paid, over rated riders will be attending. That is not a dig at Poole, that is how they wish a January meeting to be held but I dont think its for me. Newports New year Classic is unique and in a way I am pleased Matt Ford is not trying to copy it. No one should - its a newport meeting and cannot be copied. I am sad it wont be happening this year but I pray to god it will be back in 2010. From a financial position I am sure the lost income from the classic can be made very easily in a special memorial meeting as a first of the season fixture in Tims memory. This bitching is quite upsetting really when you think back to how it has all come about. Poole have a meeting this year and so long as he doesnt try and block Newport in 2010 then I think it should rest there. -
Slovenia was great. We flew into Zagreb and drove (or some good friends did!!! ) into Slovenia. We stayed here but I am a little concerned that it will be a lot more expensive as it will be mid season.

Out of interest - which UK stadia are currently official FIM registerd stadium and can run such meetings. I know it was only a couple of years ago that Coventry made the changes needed to the 2nd and 4th bends to get the accreditation needed.

Booked in Bird - but I'm not telling you yet who you will be sharing it with!!!!!

The 'rights' of who should be in and out ended at the end of the German GP. Rightfully in are the top 8 Rightfully in are the qualifiers. No one else has the right. Holder has the same 'chance' as Scott - they are both National Champions but thats about where it ends. I want as many Brits in the 16 as possible as that is who gets my support but we will just have to wait and see. I am not saying dont debate but I am saying no one has any 'rights' in this.
-
..and why do they continue to put on two FIM meetings in the same day when there could be a possible conflict - Cardiff GP and GP qualifier in Poland!!! Can they not get it organised better
-
Curious Ghostwalker - WC I suspect will be Sweden - not sure hey could fill Coventry (or other FIM approved British track) after last years GB performances. Good to see the GP qualifier at Brandon though. Need to get diary out and check the dates I have already [encilled in and see if they match + add the rest!!!

Gelsenkirchen Off !
Sandie replied to smartace's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
With the greatest respect its okay if you can throw away money but for those that havent yet made their fortunes it was nothing to laugh about. My daughter took Friday off work which was now a wasted days leave. Flights possibly not refunded as she chose to use a cheap carrier (cant afford BA etc!!!), additional flights needed paying for as did the hotel bill, and land travel costs included taxi's fuel and parking costys. Some of these are down to incompetence some down to weather - but it all leaves a bitter taste in the mouth and if she wanted to have a 'fun' weekend she probably wouldnt have chosen Gelsenkirchen!!! I assume you were not this weekends sponsors!!!! I know you are a good person but I do think your post was extremelly selfish -
Wondered when you would come out the woodwork. From a dismal start to what is looking like a promising end. Next home to Aus to beat a few more - yes?????

Never thought I would see a Belle Vue fan pleased that Rory did so well!! I may be thousands of miles away but still around to go YAY ROO BOY!!!!!

Kim Jansson Benefit Meeting
Sandie replied to crazysue's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Very much doubt it. He was looking to see a specialist on Monday so will, by now, have a better idea of the damage he has done but based on what we heard on Sunday, the boy will be needing a big rest. And with the greatest respect to the importance of this meeting it may be one to sit out rather than ride half fit. I wont be there on Thursday but hope you all have agreat evening and a LOT of money is raised. PS - Hayley - what was the final total of the Bydgoszcz Bus booty and has it been handed over yet?? -

Oi Silver Bee are you out there. I know you will say they are only Prmier riders but check out the updates for last Thursday - he can do it in both leagues these days. Take note sunshine Well done Rory - excellent win, now moving on to Glasgow tomorrow night to p*ss Paulco off - hopefully!!!! -
Italian Gp, Lonigo - 27 September 2008
Sandie replied to Bezza's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Just seen the very quick clip on Sky. I can only guess he just didnt realise Scott was there on his practice start. He just seemed to fly into the airfence. Scott just seemed to look across at the pile on the floor. Shame they didnt stay with the clip as it would appear Scott was straight off his bike to check on him. Maybe a start to heal the rift. Chris just been interviewed - Ligaments on his knee and torn muscles around his ribs. Been told to rest for two weeks!! -
Ashfield Classic 2008
Sandie replied to Paulco's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Well I had a chat to Rory Schlein this afternoon and he said he is definately coming up to Glasgow as he is really keen to meet Paulco and as an Edinburgh old boy is keen to win and REALLY p*ss him off!!!! (I didnt really but Im sure that's what he's thinking!!!!!! ) -
Pleased you have posted this Rick. Thought about posting on Sunday but I was having a miserable day and didnt want to see all the negative / mocking posts that this news will undoubtedly attract. But personally I think its great news Congratulations Billy J. xx EDIT - Im sure TMG will look in here so he, or someone else will hopefully answer - I recognise a lot of the names in the line up but notice Dale Facchini not there. Is he still riding / was there a qualification ?
