Sorry for being cynical Steve but do you know this, have you read this or are you just assuming this. It would be a very wise move for the promotion to offer a new press release offering a little bit more in clarity. If we were talking about a previously defunct track becoming active again then I think there would be less unhappiness. But as tanya has said - Newport fans havent yet returned to their stadium home and said their farewell yet. Is Matt intending to invite Newport riders and premier riders dear to Tims heart or will those riding be there because they are being paid rather than because they are riding for Tim. Obviously knowing one of Tims final team closely I do feel passionate that these boys are not forgotten in all this. Please Matt Ford tell us a little bit more. I think we now must accept this meeting will be in Poole but a lot more thought is needed regarding the delicate nature of running this event.

What is sad about this is, that now the Poole promotion cannot get the champions together they need another draw to recruit riders and get the fans in. So as an afterthought they have chosen to make it a new year Classic in Memory. Does anyone know if the profits of the meeting are going to a charity that Tim would have liked or to Tims beloved Newport or any other good cause. I think I would have preffered the first meeting in Tims memory to be held at Newport if Im honest where riders that were important to Tim would go back home to ride. I am trying to stay neutral about this but the Poole promotion are not helping their own cause

January Licence
Sandie replied to dave69's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
I love the NYC and am sad it isnt at Newport. Over the last few days I have learnt a lot more about the history of the NYC and why Tim held it and then a bit more about how Poole will now be hosting he event. So using that knowlege it is clear that in ordr to pay the land rent, money is required before the season starts - so what is to stop Newport applying for the FEBRUARY licence. I havent heard of anyone taking that one up and with Telford not operating surely this is still up for grabs. Or have I missed something. I am not a lover of the original Poole idea but if they have a bit more of a grass roots meeting (and not just a Poole assest select) then I may now come down. So can anyone answer the questions - Can Newport run a Valentines meeting?? And a second question - have the new promoters publically said they want a pre-season meting? -
Hubby thinks the schedule will remain the same for Sept 09 but what does he know - they are normally the last to find out!!!!

Sgp & Swc Calendar Confirmed

so what flag do they use? I noticed that on speedwayworld a 'scandinavian' GP uses a flag containing the appropriate countries but the Nordic GP uses a Danish one!!!! -

Terenzano Italy - what can people tell us about this venue and has anyone got co-ordinates of the track so we can check it out on google earth please. I found something by the railway line but it looks huge and with no stands. So - is this track close to hotels and a town with pubs by or do we need a car? Which airports are the best to use? Details - I need details - pretty please -
Just for interest: Central News TV have just shown the Telford meeting on TV and said it wont be there this year due to major refurbishment at the ice rink. They said that things should be back to normal in 2010!

Recently found out that ABTA are a waste of space!! Many of you know about Nikki's doomed Peru trip. Well after months and months of letter sending (at registered prices) the last letter simply said - If you wish to go to Arbitration then contact .......... Why the heck didnt they say that 6 months ago. What a complete waste of time. And I suspect that the process in arbitration would probably take another 6 months starting all over again. Nikki's friend has already dropped out and taken the original offer and having taken advise it looks like Nikki will end up doing the same as they case her case is now weakened. So the corporates win again -
Wasnt it Shawn that had an accident last year - Im not sure but something to do with him nearly detaching a limb from his body. Maybe that has lead to lack of work and thus lack of funds. Whatever the reason I hope that this thread remains with sympathetic interest and does not turn into a lynching mob relating to peoples misfortunes - please.

Being very patriotic I am over the moon that both Chris and Scott are back in the GP's. Can now start looking and booking the ones we fancy attending. Both, I think are in the last chance saloon this year with Scott nearing the end of his GP days and Chris out to prove he can be a top 8 rider. Those that say that Kennett and Woofinden should be in are really only wearing hearts on their sleeves and I applaude you for that. We all have our favourites and support them all the way. Brits travel well and at the end of the day it is a business as well as a world championship series. BRING IT ON!!!!

Which is why I wouldnt have even attempted to write a letter of complaint. However if you have equipment designed to enhance your enjoyment you would like to think that it works. When the location was chosen for the event it wasnt just chosen for the wide open space but for all the facilities that go along with it. And the cost of hiring that venue is reflected in this. So whilst I personally wouldnt write to complain I still have a level of expectation based on the amount of money I spend on my ticket purchased.

I agree. We and many others had that view and it was tough listening to the oohhs and arhhhs from he other end of th stadium as they showed replays and also embarrassing when you have t ask the person next to you - who came third!!! My money is just as good as theirs but they got more for it than I did!!!

Changed my mind Silver Bee - ATTACK BOY!!!

......and as a double confirm - I received an e-mail today saying the same!! So no Brighton, No Telford and no Newport NYC and most importantly no forum gatherings Yes - I know there is the Poole meeting but it doesnt float my boat at the moment (personal choice) - I prefer a winter season made up of lower order riders and some fun. I may be wrong but I just imagine the Poole meeting being a - pay your money, sit in your seat, watch the meeting and go home again sort of meeting'. Something about the other three meetings that had a more personal touch. So no Telford

New Year Classic
Sandie replied to hawk's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
I have a question and as there are those that seem to know when the Promoters were offered the January date Im sure they will have this answer too. Were other months also offered when offering the January date to promoters? As I understand it, one meeting a month is licenced by the BSPA in the closed season. At the moment that appears to be Brighton in December and Telford in February (unless anyone can confirm Telford is still on - but no one seems to know!!) I wouldnt expect the December date to be taken up but wonder why the February date was not discussed as a good alternative (if indeed it was offered). It would have saved an awful lot of bad blood and probably from Pooles point of view, if they want the big boys to attend they may have had more opportunity to get them back in the Country for this. So - my question again - was it just the NYC date offered or where there more? And if only the NYC date why? -
agreed. Its that fix you need just to keep you going. And with no Brighton in December its all a bit sad. Am I right in thinking that one meeting a month is approved by the BSPA in the closed season. If it is, it makes me wonder IF additional months were offered to the promoters and maybe Matt Ford could have run a Valentine Meeting rather than taking the New Year date and running the wroth (sp) of Newport and NYC supporters. But thats for another thread and I will pop across and politely ask. In the meantime I can only assume we wont be going to Telford.
