OMG - its just dawned on me - with all these cut backs he may have to sack his hairdryer guy!!! Oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Now that would be one of the only benefits of this 'recession' and maybe in 9 months time we will call on this post again Blaze!!
-
Blimey - if you use that figure across the board for all speedway relating advertising / promotion it really doesnt bode well as companies look to simply survive with no money to devlop new business. Could be an interesting year all round

I know they are all 'given the perfect journey' - But the point being, even if you left home at 8am you would still be there in plenty of time for a 5pm start. However - what about all those unfortunate kids who have Saturday jobs (and weekend workers etc) and were planning on coming home after work to watch the meeting on TV - not good for them!

Thats what I meant by NORTH. Whatever the time of the meeting the Sots will always be disadvantaged!!! I did Sue - I used your address!!!
-
Just done some google mapping and got the following: Newcastle.........5hrs 26mins Scunny.............4hr 55mins Norwich............4hrs 41mins Kings Lynn ........4hrs 23 mins Ipswich.............4hrs 13mins (Sue's place!! ) Ramsgate.........4hrs 12mins Penzance..........3hrs 56mins Manchester.......3hrs 28mins Whilst I appreciate the need for proper rest breaks I cant see it being an overly early start for any of the above. If you factor in things like going to the pub and meeting up then it changes but people have to decide what they want to get out of the day. Obviously those living North have (and always did have) to make chouces as it will be a very long day if they consider doing it in a day. But overall it still looks do-able. And those on trains need planning more closely.

Taken from - http://www.speedwayworld.tv/en/latest/ BSI Speedway, rights holders of the FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series, can today confirm the 2009 FIM British Speedway Grand Prix will start at the new time of 1700H (5pm) local time, at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium on 27 June 2009. “We are now coming into our ninth consecutive year at the Millennium Stadium and in a way the FIM British Speedway Grand Prix has been a victim of its own success. As the popularity of the event has grown it has been increasingly difficult to accommodate all the fans wishing to stay in Cardiff on the Saturday night.” explains Paul Bellamy, managing director, BSI Speedway. “By moving the start time to five pm it allows supporters the option of either staying in the city overnight or returning home on the same day as the event.” The 2009 FIM British Speedway Grand Prix will be the fifth event of the 11 round individual world championship FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series. Fans who book their tickets before 31 December 2008 will be able to purchase them at 2008 prices. Tickets are available by calling 0871 230 7155 or via www.speedwayworld.tv So are they listening to the fans are are sales of tickets so low they need to do something fast?? Hmm- cynical thinking or are they doing good by the fans - you decide!!!

Get in there - more booze time afterwards!!! Bird - are you rwading / listening!!!!!

Latest news from Jack Young Cup - There is one heat race to go before the semi finals. Rory Schlein is automatically into the final having won all his heats. Despite having a bad stomach upset (thats the polite words - and not what the text said!!) Nigel Sadler is also going well. 6 races to go before the final. I dont have any more detail - next text will be after the final.+ EDIT: Riders for the final are: Schlein (12) Summers (9) Bugeja (8) Sadler (8) 2nd EDIT Meeting won by Summers Schlein didnt get off the line and pulled off the track. Congrats to Summer but a good run out for Rory as this is his only meet before the Aussie Titles start in January Thanks to Lynette Schlein for the texts

Steve You keep making this point that Poole had to pay for the meeting but as I have said a couple of times - that is not unusual, its an out of season meting and whether it be Poole, Newport, Telford or Brighton - they must be paid for. Have I missed something - are you trying to make another point??? And for what its worth the prices are about as expected.

Vodka's good!!! Pre-booked all the rooms - eek. I really hope they meant pre-booked all the remaining rooms. But then again it could be fun - I'll go with the content of your text Bird

Excuse me - Im not sure the full group have agreed your inclusion in our little gathering. What can you bring to the weekend - we have a very big list to tick off you know!!!!! .
-
Agree with you Pollyanna - most Poole fans have said very little but then does he mean this site or the Poole Forum. I have nothing against him having he licence (I have said that before) but that interview in the paper is a little hard to swallow as the meeting was originally the Champion of Chamions meeting and was only renamed as the Tim Stone meeting as an afterthought. That is what upsets me and I am sure there are Poole fans that feel the same even if they choose not to be vocal. And I am not about t read over the thread again but I certainly wouldnt say the thread has been abusive. Many have asked questions but I dont remember reading abuse. Maybe if I have a free 10minutes laterI will read it all again!!!!

Give That Man A Medal

Forget all of it - lest just toss a coin!!!! -
Thanks for that Lisa. I had also heard it was expensive but that is what goes along with an out of season licence apparently. Your licence apparently needs to take into account all the appropriate insurances as any speedway insurance for riders etc only runs from March to end Oct. Any club doing an out of season meet would have that same outlay. As for the rest - I cant vouch for how close the two were and it really isnt worth digging up old ground so I will just wait and see the rest of the line and whether any money is going to a cause associated with Tim Stone before making my own decision to attend or not. Individual choices. Thanks again and I hope the headache clears up quickly - more lemonade with it next time!!
