  1. So clearly my original comments has unearthed a lacked of communication with a number of clubs! communicating with your regular source of income is a pretty important (the fans) in this day and age, when you have clubs trying to get you to spend your money with them against other sports ie. Football, Rugby, Ice Hockey etc - Why I'm shocked to hear others are in the same situation as me, its British Speedway! I have to say at Poole, Since Danny has taken over its been night and day and always gets back to you quickly on matters, other clubs could learn a thing or too from him. To put it clearly if the people monitoring the emails at these clubs worked for my company and they were costing me lost revenue we would have a major issue. I have set a limit by the end of this week, If I don't hear back from Oxford Speedway, I will spend the money on other sports I enjoy outside of speedway and they will lose 4 people attending a minimum of 10 home meetings, that's admission and food/drink not being purchased by me, soon adds up!
  2. That is a major worry if my business was Oxford Speedway! Someone that want's to buy your product but has a simple question before purchasing. They are losing out on potential income, so if it was my business I wouldn't be happy unless they don't need any more ticket sales! whoever monitors all 3 emails needs to be spoken to! I'm still awaiting my reply from them before I purchase a ticket. It's a shame as I will be going to Poole weekly and was going to support Oxfords new 'project' which enabled me to watch some of the worlds top riders.
  3. Poole have very good crowds, with my business head on it makes sense for Poole to remain in the Championship and make more clear profit. Moving up with the same amount of fans would see riders costs increase as GP riders obviously demand more and flights and travel to get them in. The business model works for the Fords to earn a good living out of the club in the championship. Is that holding Poole back from moving into the Premiership, that's a question someone else would have to answer.
  4. I haven't even got that far as to order it, just had a quick question before I did!
  5. Sadly that's the cost if you want to watch some of the worlds top riders. Only shame for the club I have emailed a few times (knowing Christmas break) but still not heard a thing back, must have already sold out of season tickets emailed all 3 emails now on website.
  6. Redcar Poole Glasgow Workington Oxford Edinburgh Scunthorpe Berwick Plymouth
  7. Yes I too am planning this weekend! along with a visit to Sheffield v Oxford on way up. Just looking through some of the comments..... I hope I'm wrong but can't see Thomsen lasting and feel he will struggle, this signing is a massive gamble. Personally I would have gone with Stefan Nielsen on a 3.75 average, yes has a history of getting injured but at Poole as a second string in a weaker league he would have scored well. He would have also scored well away from home I'm sure. Let's see if he turns up in the championship to start the season as feel someone will snap him up quick to replace riders not performing!
  8. Think it’s a great signing for Brummies, he will do well.
  9. The final signing will be announced this coming week.
  10. Tom will do a great job in a much weaker league. With the last 2 as rumoured I think the last rider will be interesting! All will be clear before Christmas with the last 3 to be announced in the next couple of weeks.
  11. Glasgow never purchased Tom from the BSPA.
  12. Welcome to Poole Tom! Great signing and was good to catch up and have a chat with him last night, very level headed young man and think he will easily put 1 - 1.5 on his average in 2024.
  13. So who is the 4 pointer Poole will get! The other 4 are nailed on.
  14. So BCP have just released the draft local plan, will go through it and see what the stadium site has for plans!
  15. All I’m going to say, if BCP want to sell the site very soon, as in a year or two they will be met by a mass of resistance from locals. The only sporting arena in the heart of the town won’t be easy to get rid of mark my words. All I hear is real estate is what they need to make money, is Poole stadium there only asset? No!
  16. Danny Ford on the podcast this week, didn’t rule out moving up to top flight in a year or two. Does not sound like a stadium shutting just yet.
  17. So turning the site into a working community hub isn’t the answer? So much can be done to utilise the stadium and it’s use but it sits empty all winter. If it was put in the right hands it would be a massive attraction for locals and people coming into the area. Look at Oxford! You invest you get your rewards all you need is some to realise that. People saying oh it won’t change anything, with that attitude it won’t, you have to fight to keep the site and you need to do that in numbers. The site could be used for so much, concerts (planning required) boxing events, go karting, Poole town Fc (Bigger speedway track installed) outside of sports a restaurant/cafe hub, Christmas markets the list goes on.
  18. BCP and Osborne will have a fight on there hands if they try and close the stadium. Osborne does not own the land which is a blessing, if he doesn’t want to continue the lease then Mr Ford could take it on and if Mr Ford wishes not to there is other local business people that would take it on. There is plenty of local business people that would take it on and turn it into a multi use facility. I’m very confident BCP will soon back step once knowledge is in the public eye. We went through this at the end of 1995 when the council tried to close the stadium, and thousand of fans turned up at the civic centre which they didn’t expect! Poole’s main sporting event is speedway in the town, that has been here for 75 years, it’s unique and taking that out the town would be a massive mistake. Closing speedway isn’t just a sport it’s a weekly gathering and community for so many people and taking that away will have knock on effects.
