Hee hee, sounds like him, I used to love watching him at Eastville, Bristol. He was forever being excluded, cutting people up, knocking them off etc. What a charachter! Made me wonder how he made a living from it ..... Sandman - it sounds like you knew him personally?
Gresh had a go at alot of riders, very very short tempered, he had Briggo by the throat on the floor. Also punched John Davis off his bike in full flight - lethal ! Almost put Nigel Boocock in hospital one night because he `got in the way` and that was his riding partner. (at Bristol) ...... Also the rider with the surname Tockz or something like that, he nearly killed him !
Ted`s shop (Maximum Racing) is now called `BURNOUT BIKES` the present owner bought the premises from Ted. He`s got Teds old 2 valve JAWA and `monkey mask` which he displays in the shop window. Ted supplied the fuel and oil at Bristol speedway . Shop is situated on the main road thru Downton on the A36 Salisbury road. Ted is of German origin.(according to the present owner)
Remember the night well, Bruce did ride at Eastville that night, incidentlly it was the night Bruce Cribb had talks with the Bristol promotion- and then joined the `Bulldogs` shortly afterwards (following week)
On the subject of film sets, does anyone know the name of the stadium used for the speedway scene in the film `Honest` starring the`all saints` back in 2000?
Not forgetting Plymouth too! They also rode as the `Bulldogs` > 1961 when Eric Salmon moved the team there after Bristol closed. Maybe they could drop the `Devils` and make it 4 teams ! (ha ha)
Im interested to know what interest and support there is in bringing back the `BULLDOGS` does anyone know of any suitable land which is realistically usable for this ?
This subject seems to of died a death! - Just wondering what interest there is out there to seeing a `BULLDOGS REVIVAL` ? suggestions and ideas would be welcome and any possible sites ................. We can let is fizzle out ! !
