' I met Laurie at the Hackney 'Friday at 8' Reunion last year, he signed a few old pics for me. I reminded him that the last time I asked for his autograph was 30 years ago. I think it made him feel old, it certainly made me feel old anyway!

Agree, very sad feel to this issue, the Billy Sanders article is tragic.

Excellent lifesize statue and nice tribute. Looks bl**dy cold there!!! The Stal Gorzow team led by Ed Jancarz came to the UK in '76 and '77, I remember them racing against Hackney. Other riders I remember were Cieslak (who went on to ride for White City), Rembas & Wozniek.

I don't think it is Pete Wigley, I have pics of Pete from the same period he seems a much taller thinner rider and was using a white MX type face mask that year and wore his leathers over his boots. I've added two more pics:~ Rider 15 is a Crayford Rider from 1977 Rider 16 - I think is Ted H of Rye House (need confirmation) Rider 17 is a Crayford rider Rider 18 is an Eastbourne rider 1978 Anyone know who rider 9 is ???? and rider 5 ????
