Darcy Ward

Just seen Woffinden's latest video on his twitter, featuring him giving young children snus through the window of a car while waiting for Ward, with Holder and Batchelor. What wonderful role models. -
King's Lynn V Stoke (nl) - Thursday 5th September 2013

People on Twitter treating Bridger like a hero for not actually touching Lambert... making out that Bridger took a step back through his own choice. Not the case. Kerr's intervention prevented Bridger from headbutting Lambert, otherwise Bridger would have been in serious hot water. It is quite clear the aggressive intent Bridger meant by his actions. Don't need his sort around in an already dangerous environment. -
Lewis Kerr has improved immensely over the last year and doubling up for Newcastle seems to have pushed him onto the next level. He is an example of the positives of the doubling-up system, and I would love it if more British riders followed suit. I hope you are right and he does make the grade, there's been too many riders, especially British riders who are happy to settle in the PL and not push themselves and their equipment to EL standard. I hope Kerr is ambitious. It's always special for a team to nurture their own talent through to the senior team.

I'm going to be brutally honest. There's probably two factors why people don't attend National League meetings at Lynn. Firstly, Lynn have never had success at NL level. Different sport but look at the backing from Norfolk people with the Norwich U-18 side in the Youth Team Cup run. There have been remarkable attendances in support of our youngsters and in turn it provided an experience most of these players will never forget. The key to this was the marketing approach with the games being constantly plugged on social networking sites and cheap ticket pricing. Season ticket holders had free entry if they applied for tickets before a certain date and for the rest of the public admission prices were £2. Both sports provide a chance for spectators to watch young talent develop but if it was a toss up between which one I would attend, I'd be at Carrow Road every day of the week. Simply because the pricing makes sense. I used to attend Boston meetings a few years ago when they were spearheaded by a trio of Lambert, Haines and Darcy Ward. All three were massive prospects back then, and you knew from just watching Darcy for 4 laps that he was going to go far in the sport. It was a unique experience watching such a precious talent in his earliest days of development. This has been lacking ever since, no disrespect to the current Lynn NL squad, but there's no buzz around any of them potentially becoming a key rider for the senior team in the future. If Lynn showed ambition and signed an up and coming Brit, like Robert Lambert then attendances may improve and there may be some real excitement around the place in watching another prospective superstar in his development.

King's Lynn 2011

Yes a return to the EL of old say early 2000's would be fantastic... but unfortunately that just isn't possible, with huge changes happening between then and now. Reading and Oxford closed due to the financial demands of the 'top' league and we were close to folding in 2002... do we really want to see a repeat of that? The EL is completely different from the time when Lynn was last in the league, the top riders have deserted it and going by some sky meetings the fans have too and reading the forum and match reports from last season I can see why... the riders in the EL are so spread out in ability. You had the likes of Kozza who was inconsistant enough at PL level, riding for Ipswich regularly towards the end of last season. No offence to Kozza, but he is nowhere near ready for EL. It isn't just the British system's fault though, Poland and Russia are major contributers to speedway in this country problems. The top riders are earning a higher wage over there and are demanding similar pay over here... but it just isn't viable in Britain with crowd levels dramatically lower than Poland's Ekstraliga. It's just common sense that without the support of the fans then riders wages will not be paid. Basically, you can forget the top riders, variety of teams, local rivalries... everything that makes speedway enjoyable for a fan by going into the EL. So what really is the incentive? -

No to the EL, it's financial suicide and us fans, we don't want to see one team four times a season! Keep us PL!! -

Gutted that it looks like Kevin will never ride in Stars colours again, the club has had it's most successful years with him in the team so it's a huge loss Wish him all the best with his future club whoever it may be and he will be a very popular visitor when he comes to town I hope the Chapman's aren't thinking of going with Topinka as number one... he just isn't consistant enough anymore to spearhead the team. A replacement is needed, I'd like to think either Nermark or McGowan and pray it's not the other name being floated around on this thread -

Excellent news! Would be good to see the Poles drawn in this round. I think they'd be good value around Lynn Oh and fingers crossed for Denmark too -

It's most likely going to be: Doolan Topinka Bjerre Roynon Then the other three positions are up for grabs: Kozza may want a new challenge away from KL, which may pave the way for the return of Schrammy or even Sanchez John Oliver has commented on wanting to return so it could be himself, Millsy or Eklof in competition for another spot. Mallett and Lambert will be fighting over the final reserve position, with Lambert being favourite with his average slightly lower. My preffered line up: 1. Doolan 2. Bjerre 3. Sanchez 4. Oliver 5. Topinka 6. Roynon 7. Lambert -

Great news! Been a while since Lynn fans have seen the world's greatest riders grace one of the best tracks in the UK, so surely it's a recipe for a great meeting. Some very bitter posts from a few on this thread. If you don't like the choice of venue, then don't come. I know of a few speedway novices, who have decided this will be their first live speedway meeting so hopefully if it's going to be a corker (which I'm sure it will be) then these people will come back for more in future. Who gives a toss about which league Lynn are in... Rye House are hosting the World U21 Team Cup final next year, what league are they in? If the race track and venue is good enough to hold an FIM event then it really doesn't matter what league the club is in. Congrats to the KL promotion -

Well done Darcy Ward Not a bad first season, World U21 champion, double champion with King's Lynn (maybe more to come) and a play off final with Torun to come. Amazing achievement Would not be surprised if we see him in the GP's next season at this rate. So proud he's a Star in 2009 -
Kozza and Darcy... they can fight it out for the title but first and second would be nice Seriously I think both are title contenders and it would be great for the Stars to see these two doing the business in Aussie ready for the start of the UK season. Good luck to them both

Wahoo, well done Kozza and Darcy!!! Proud of them both -
Absolutely disgusted with the 'fans', who cheered when Nicki P fell off in the final He landed on his head and did a couple of somersaults across the track, but the anti- Nicki P fans found it hilarious There are far too many serious injuries in speedway and fans cheering a rider when he falls, is just pure pathetic and disrespectful. Also, the decisions between N.Pedersen/ B.Pedersen/ Adams, were all made by the referee not Nicki P. So I don't see how in this world you can blame Nicki, when it is obviously down to the referee's judgement of the incident
-
Nicholls carried on straight into the 1st bend, and totally took Hans front wheel away from him. I'm not a huge Hans fan, I'm just saying it like I saw it.
-
I thought the referee was excellent tonight and made some brave correct decisions. Lindbacks exclusion was correct, as he went far too wide into 1st bend, saw Crump coming up the inside, bottled it as he knew Crump would be ahead going into the backstraight and slid off on his own accord. Nicki Pedersens exclusion in the semifinal no.2 was also correct, Nicholls didn't touch him and he went too wide into the 4th bend and just hit the slimy stuff. Nicholls exclusion in the rerun of semifinal no.2 was definately correct, Nicholls gave Hans a massive nudge coming out of the 4th bend and Hans Andersen HAD to lean on Nicholls going down the home straight to avoid hitting the fence, they both went into the 1st bend very close and Nicholls lent the bike onto Hans, and Hans had no other choice than to hit the dirt. Anyway, Congrats to Andreas fully deserved win and it's good to see a rider win his home g.p

Congratulations Denmark

Absolute quality from the danes! The referee hated the danes and did everything in his power to help the brits win But did it work? NO! The danes agressive determined team spirit won them the trophy and they totally deserved it -

There's nothing wrong with getting behind your country, but saying that Andersen pushed away Nicholls handshake, when it was the other way round, was going a tad bit too far. Also they said that nicki p should of been excluded, when it was first bend bunching and then when the Brit fell off, it should of been all four back and no exclusion at all. Pathetic -

I was talking about Norwich lol, last time I knew all those youth players were English Yeah heat 25 is mouth-watering stuff, hopefully it will decide the outcome of the meeting. Also, hopefully tonight the sky commentators won't be so biased, it really does my head in! Finally, thank you Dartford Hammer for your kind comments
