Time to send a GB/England touring team abroad?
Bavarian replied to Bavarian's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Some British riders do come here on the weekends and race as individuals anyway, (they ride in Polish league speedway, in under-21 or under-16 Junior events, and in grass track) so why would this be any different? It would open up opportunities for British riders, those who want to have a go on a tour with their national team. I can't see no harm in that. With no racing taking place in UK it would be the perfect time to sent a British team over to France or to the Czech Republic, if the other federations are willing and able to host them. There are far fewer restrictions on the Continent in some of the Central and Eastern European nations, were the Covid-19 infection rates are far lower than in the UK, and in most of those countries spectators are allowed to attend sports events. Ask the British riders if they want such a tour to go ahead. If not, then forget it, but if they are fond of the idea, the BSPA & Speedway GB should try to make it happen. The unofficial Tests in Australia earlier this year proved to be very popular with the riders and the fans. Why stop there? -
Wouldn't September/October of 2020 be the perfect time to organise an outgoing tour for a Great Britain or England team to race on the Continent (France, Germany, Czech Republic)? It would be a great opportunity for some of the currently inactive British riders to race and represent their national team and provide an attraction for some of the lesser speedeway nations here on the continent to ride against England/Great Britain. Could the BSPA / Speedway GB organise something similar to what they did earlier this year with the GB Team riding against Australia in Perth, W.A.?

Oh, boy, this is just too much. This is going in the completely wrong direction with the introduction of this doubling up/down and guest riders this year in Poland.

Then he is "saving" himself for the last couple of years for this. No way, he is just not good enough anymore. No chance to make the top three at Gorican. -
How can it be that Rawicz uses the Leszno riders Bartosz Smektala AND Jaimon Lidsey for today's meeting with WIttstock. I don't think that those two should be eligible to ride in Liga 2 !

Amazing third place with thrteen points for Hannah Grunwald. Never knew she was that good !

Maybe so, but that should be a thing of the past. Grigory has been punished for it and served his ban, but now is clear and a top class performer in the Ekstraliga. Dudek has had drugs ban as well, but still rides the SGP, no problem with that. I mean, they have given Martin Smolinski a wild card this year! I wonder why Smoli would deserve it more than Grisha? I just don't understand why he never got the chance. Politics, maybe? -

Grigory Laguta with a 15 point max tonight, wins heat 15 against three SGP riders! Why oh why doesn't he ever get a permanet wildcard entry into the SGP series? Best rider in the world never to have been in the SGP ! -

Don't think he will be selected fro Poland. They have better under 21's and neither need nor want a Russian to ride in their SoN team. Russia could use him very well, of course. Not sure if he will be selected, but as long as he holds both nations' passports he would still be eligible to ride for Russia. -

Nasty accident for young Torun rider Justin Stolp in his very first ride for the First League team. -
British speedway should built and keep their own stock of riders. Let the super pro's go to Poland if they wish. There is only limited space from them over there. Keep the others exclusively in Britain and create Your own new stars. If one of them new born stars sometime attracts the attention of a wealthy Polish club, demand a transfer fee for him as long as he is contracted to a British club. This could bring quite some money into British Speedway. Do as they do in other sports (Football), and British speedway will survive and perhaps even thrive again. If You have exclusive use of Your own riders, British speedway clubs can use any night they wish to run their home meetings, weekdays or weekends, just as it suits them.

Come on, man! This was good speedway racing tonight. Leszno wins 55-35 and the fans really enjoy it and celebrate with THEIR riders/team's big win. There is no artificual levelling of teams due to points limits etc in Polish Speedway, and this is quite right so. A successful team won't be punished and don't have to release any of their riders due to a certain low points limit. That's a good thing. See how popular and succesful the Polish team building system is compared to the British. -

Big win for Leszno, it's now 48-30 after thirteen heats, but nevertheless a very enjoyable meeting with lots of good racing. -

Fair enough, Kasprzak and Iversen are trying very and giving their best. That's all one could ask for. -

That 5:1 hurts. Iversen and Kasprzak are Gorzow's weak links. There was no team riding between them and Kolodziej just went by. -
