Kings Lynn Vs Wolves ( Double Header) 23.08,17
mikec replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Really feel for Kings Lynn fans tonight, another terrible evening. Respect to Josh Auty, just the 11 rides so far & according to updates still giving it everything in an utterly hopeless cause, fair play. -
Lemo not rated by one or two on this thread. Just my opinion, he has been central in changing the mentality of my club's team & fans, who had become used to failure. He's been a driving force in turning them into a force to be respected &, at full strength, feared. Hopefully the Aces back my point up on track Monday morning & pick up full points. On to 2018,think Poole have the basis of an outstanding side next year. I like Woryna, saw him perform well last year at Cov & at our place. Really seems to have kicked on too this year. With B Kurtz, potentially both Holder brothers & Shanes there is much to be positive about. Seems to be too much hysteria on Poole threads after one iffy season. Try waiting 24 years for a league title, & enduring numerous wooden spoons along the way. Perspective needed, Pirates will be back...

A couple of youngsters I've seen for the first time & been impressed with at Belle Vue this year watching Colts matches are Anders Rowe & Henry Atkins. Both have a good style & at decent pace too, at a track pretty different to most they'll have faced to date. In recent years there seems to be a glass ceiling most young GB riders hit that stunts their progress. Long list. Have an optimistic theory, might be wrong, that when one lad breaks through it then others will follow. As an Ace I hope it's Dan Bewley, but imo with the quantity of young talent coming through it's only a matter of time. I hope so anyway!

Excellent signing, watching him at Belle Vue he was impressive. Be great for Fen Tigers fans to enjoy watching both Kemp & Jenkins develop as the 2018 season unfolds, look forward to seeing them in action against the Colts next season.

Tough conditions at the NSS for a third time running, big respect to the lads from both teams for battling on & putting on a show. Wright was really good, Heeps came good in the second half & Grajczonek was always a threat. Cook looks back to his quick & aggressive best, well backed by Steve Worrall. Good to see Tungate back, despite being plagued by bike trouble. Three valuable points nearer the playoffs, fingers crossed for some positive news soon on Max Fricke.

Fair enough appreciate the explanation. On a wider note, the Leicester track has had plenty of clog - been down to Beaumont Park for both Aces matches, June's was OK, last night was pretty decent imo. Will be back in 2018 for sure.

Great to see young Bickley did a good job for the Brummies, getting better match by match. No "Billy Bigtime" about him, wants to listen & wants to learn. A GB kid going places.

Was down there last night, was amazed SGB chose that race to put out. Heat 15 was miles better, not to mention Bewley's two magic passes in heats 12 & 14. Especially the race where Dan built his speed up in the dirt over 2 laps, before roaring down the home straight into turn 1 under a shell-shocked Lasse Bjerre!

Sheffield Tigers V Edinburgh Monarchs.

Would agree with your match summary Charlieboy. I was really disappointed with the Riss brothers, particularly Erik as I was impressed by him at Leicester last night against my mob. Know Mark has been out injured a while so he could be excused a bit I guess. Thought Ricky Wells battled hard & I enjoyed watching Josh Pickering for the first time. Gutsy, good style too, 10/10 for effort today. Clegg & Davey offered little, combined with no Masters was gonna be v tough. Heat 13 was a cracking race, Grajczonek is reaching Stead levels round Owlerton, so smooth whilst flat out, brilliant to watch. There was a moment mid meeting on the 3rd/4th bend where one of the Riss lads seemed to clip the air fence, the whole crowd gasped, expecting a nasty crash, still not sure how he stayed on board, pleased he did! -
If the rain doesn't intervene should be a really good match this. Expect Carr & JPB to go well, Bacon scored good points here last season & Hampshire really impressed me too (with KL Young Stars i think).I'm going for a 50-40 Colts win.

Belle Vue V Kings Lynn Stars 11-08-2017

You're right there are, though certainly not any of your 1-7 tonight, all got stuck in. As Phil has touched on, both sides weren't just trying to survive 4 laps, they were racing full tilt throwing the bikes into what in the last 3 or 4 races was wet slop. Was spectacular to watch, as Steve Worrall summed up at press conference tonight was a compliment to the track size & shape - he went as far as to say he enjoyed it. Jonasson was quite complimentary when interviewed too. Whatever those lads were paid tonight, they deserve every penny, brilliant stuff! Edit: Completely agree Halifax Tiger about Cookie, decent score tonight but as someone watching him regular like you do, it's clear he's miles off his best. Whether issues are mechanical or otherwise, just hope he finds the real form again. Usually comes alive towards end of season - same again please! -

Just back from Belle Vue, massive respect to all 13 riders for putting on a show in really difficult conditions. Even more so after the last downpour which made the final 4 heats incredibly tough - visibility must have been next to nil! Congrats to the Aces on the win, but Kings Lynn fans should be proud of their team tonight, bags of guts & effort, thought they were terrific. -

Thanks R&R, let's hope from an Aces angle he has a going night tonight! With Smithy only likely to contribute a couple of points, an iffy night from Heeps would put big pressure on Bewley to contribute double figures - a big ask at this stage of his development. Throw in the possibility of a wet track, could be a potential banana skin this one for us - happy to be proved wrong though! -

Cam Heeps guests for Tungate, not seen a great deal of him racing. Know Jake Allen was originally booked to guest before his injury & looked good in Rebels win at BV, is Heeps a decent choice? -
Just returned from a really enjoyable round of the British Youth Championship at Belle Vue. 40+ races run at a cracking pace with some great action, huge well done to all involved. My favourite class was the 250's. The battling Thompson brothers were excellent, Ablitt was very tidy too but Leon Flint was that bit better than his peers. Brilliant racing style, lovely to watch, wouldn't mind seeing him at no.7 for the Colts in a year or 2's time - don't worry Berwick fans we'd look after him til he's old enough to race for you! I expected Bickley to coast the 500's, but Gilkes & Kemp were really good & provided yet another reminder of the young talent bubbling under the surface of British speedway. Poland we're not, but I left the stadium far more encouraged about the future than I did when I arrived. P.S. How spectacular were those sidecar demo races?! That National Final at BV on Oct 14th should be some night!

Leicester V Kings Lynn Saturday 5th August
mikec replied to racers and royals's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Bewley rode well for BV when we were down there earlier this season, probably hadn't previously raced there much if at all. Has clearly improved too since then. He'll give it 100% for the Stars for sure. He'll also appreciate the extra laps there ready for the Aces next trip there on Aug 19 & for his assault on the NLRC Leicester are staging. -
Hope you are right about the Wroclaw track producing better racing soon - especially as I've booked a weekend in Wroclaw taking a punt on them making the Polish Playoff Final & hosting the 2nd leg, which I think is due for Sun 24th September. Booked this mindful that Leszno are in the shake up for the Playoffs too & is an easy commute from Wroclaw. Other than rainoffs, have I got the playoffs schedule right R&R?
-
Just read that Kyle Bickley can't race in this meeting, something about due to his age & licence he races on, he's not allowed to race against "international class" riders? Seems a shame, would have been good experience for young Kyle who's having an excellent debut NL season. Seemingly he's racing at BV in the Youth Championship Sat night instead. Stars of Tomorrow looks a really interesting field, good luck to all involved & hopefully a healthy sized crowd there to support it.

SF saying Max Fricke has gone to hospital, eek! Fingers well & truly crossed for him, hope he's ok.

Brilliant heat 8 battle between Bjarne & Emil, high class racing this!! Watched Tungate last night & he was mighty fast there too. Big score in Poland too on Sunday, Rohan certainly has found good form!
