  1. Fair comment, although I think what people are trying to point out is the transformation from Jacobs between his comeback at the start of the season through to now. First watching Joe at Belle Vue when the stadium opened in May, he looked a million miles from being an EL no.7, I really feared for him. I think regular Aces watchers will back me on that. He now looks sharp from the tapes, smooth, rides smart lines & is clocking good times round Belle Vue. Of course there's room for improvement on his travels but from looking a kid with an uncertain future, he looks like someone who could have a decent speedway career, whether at PL level or higher, who knows? Think comparison with Adam Ellis is a tough one as I would put him at a different level to Joe anyway, but I take your point, liked the look of him at BV last week. But Joe is doing just fine, long may it continue.
  2. First of all, best wishes to Bomber who took a heavy fall on the 3rd bend. Get well soon Chris. For reasons already covered on here, always an uphill task for the Bees tonight, but Coventry fans can be proud of the efforts of King & Garrity who were terrific. Both love that track! Williamson was on the pace & kept the Worralls on their toes at times. A mention for heat 15. Cracking battle between Cook & King, with Jacobs dicing with Garrity too before sneaking past King to bring the house down. Our secret weapon round the NSS at no. 7 isn't so secret any more! Great kid with a lovely attitude & his hard work in the tough times is paying off. Very classy reaction from Danny King too, one of first in there to congratulate Joe, Witches teammates or not, it was a nice touch to round off some class racing again.
  3. Be amazed if Matt Ford doesn't act now, don't know the averages but would be surprised if Janowski isn't back in Pirates colours ASAP. Don't always agree with SS, fair play to him for doing BV & Leicester in a day. Don't have to like his blue tinted views at times, the guy obviously loves the sport & his club, respect for that. And well done Leicester tonight, whatever the scenario there I hope all the off track drama is sorted & you're at the tapes in 2017.
  4. Great news for Robins fans, for speedway fans in general, look forward to coming down to check the new place out.
  5. I use the car park in the stadium behind the 2nd bend, find it easier to get away from there than the school. Might be handy for you for quick get-off to Leicester. 3 quid either way.
  6. Fair summing up by Halifax Tiger I think, was certainly a lively match & that heat 15 was a great way to round the match off, credit to all four riders in that one. Feisty on track & in the pits as mentioned, got a bit tetchy in the centre of the grandstand when some of the Kings fans gave Greaves the "Nescafe shake" gesture as he came past following one of the incidents with Shanes. Some BV fans took exception, especially as there were plenty of kids there, the gestures all a bit unnecessary in the heat of the moment but other than that it was good to see a decent number of Kent fans had made the long trip north & they gave their team great backing. Was looking forward to seeing Shanes race for the first time & wasn't disappointed, really impressed, good style & very quick. Jack Thomas looks an exciting prospect too, read somewhere he's not been racing speedway long, he's certainly one to keep an eye on, was a threat to all the Colts last night. Thought Ben Hopwood was a great guest & possibly his best showing at Belle Vue this season, loves that wide outside run. Tough night for the Colts, though the 4th playoff spot still not out of the question. That clash with the Heathens at the end of Sept is getting bigger by the week.
  7. Tough match for the Colts against the high flying Kent Kings. Despite injuries, think Kent have chosen good guests in Branford & Hopwood who go well round the NSS. Looking forward to watching James Shanes race, & expecting the reserve pairing of Verge & Thomas to give the Colts reserves a tough time. Should be a terrific match & a stern examination of the Colts playoff aspirations. Weather forecast looks great for Friday night, bring it on! Teams: Belle Vue ‘Cool Running’ Colts Nathan Greaves (G); Tom Woolley; Matt Williamson ©; Rob Shuttleworth; Lee Payne; Joe Lawlor; Andy Mellish Kent ‘Slyde’ Kings Robert Branford (G); Luke Clifton; Danny Ayres R/R; Ben Hopwood (G); James Shanes ©; Danno Verge; Jack Thomas

  9. Totally understandable your concerns about coming to the NSS based on what you have posted. I find the stewarding is a bit mixed, some of them friendly, some are jobsworth (especially on entry to the stadium). I also get frustrated about the stadium outlets, because as a vegetarian there is little/no option for me, should I want or need it. On the flipside, for dining in the Peter Craven Suite in the grandstand pre-match they've looked after me well the 3 or 4 times I've used it - this should be the case throughout the stadium. I'd hope & expect the catering outlets are reviewed in the close season. Would recommend you contacting the speedway office at BV, with the evidence you mentioned would be surprised if Hayley or Mort didn't assist you.
  10. Think that's fair comment, Lindgren has been quality at the NSS this season. Woffinden loved it too, not to mention Masters,Thorssell & PK have all won races there. Would be hell of a battle over 2 legs between 2 sides who race each other's tracks well. Goes without saying the Aces would prefer it in the Final, motivation enough (if needed) to do a job on Poole next week. ? Not sure why you've quoted that. Was commenting about Schlein tonight, as a speedway fan. As for Aces, of course finishing top is better, goes without saying doesn't it?
  11. Was great to see Rory Schlein in action again in Manchester after his dreadful run of injury. Might have only scored 3, but involved in some great tussles - Nicholls & the Worralls would vouch for that tonight. Respect.
  12. For the benefit of SS, from someone who was there, there were a few more than a couple of hundred there - tough to get big crowds on an off Weds night in a city where the main activities aren't speedway, sailing & knitting. Those who were there saw a terrific win for the Stars. Totally deserved too. Lindgren & Lambert outstanding, Huckenbeck looked quick & a threat all night, with Batch chipping in. Strange night for the Aces, seemed to struggle from the starts & lacked top end speed as a group - not a great combo. Credit to Joe Jacobs, more than done his job tonight, lacked support. Anyway enough about tonight, it's gone. Expecting a positive reaction Monday noon...
  13. Wow that Leszno track looks like Belle Vue did last Fri night!!
  14. Heat 7 was a beauty - though Hans Andersen was nailed on to be passed there!
  15. Enjoying this one.. http://cricfree.sc/euro-sports-2-live-stream
  16. With track grading, any crashes/restarts, potentially delayed start to get crowd in & additional track prep for match 2, reckon 3pm would be a squeeze.
  17. Unsure of availability of the Robins side at relatively short notice + how they'd charge fans who've already bought Poole tickets for the extra match. Could be an option though. Wondering why considering the rain stopped in Manchester around 5, that remedial work couldn't have started before 7,50pm? Feel for travelling Robins fans. Being a local I only lost 3 quid car park fee & 15 miles of diesel - suspect they're out of pocket slightly more.
  18. After around 8 hours of rain today, it's now dry with sun peeping through & blue sky appearing. Expecting similar conditions to the Leicester home match where Hougaard excelled for Leicester in a narrow home win. Expecting another close one tonight, a similar return from Paddy would be very handy.
  19. A hard fought win for the Colts against a battling, really good value IOW. Thought Nathan Stoneman was outstanding tonight, his pass of Matt Williamson clean as a whistle in heat 12 was terrific. Was well backed by fellow reserve Layne Cupitt, with Ben Hopwood & James Cockle giving the home side plenty to think about as well. Danny Phillips & Matt Williamson did a solid job up front for BV & a fine max for Lee Payne. Another win nearer the playoffs for the Colts....maybe??
