Belle Vue V Lakeside 2nd Leg September 26
mikec replied to Vincent Vega's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Was down at Lakeside on Weds night, & for the match the Aces lost 48-45 at the Hammers a few weeks ago. Overall crowd for both matches didn't seem markedly different to me, though clearly plenty more Aces fans there on Weds night than our previous visit, unsurprisingly for a playoff semi final. Been some great racing in both encounters with the Hammers at the NSS this season, expect more of the same on Monday. With action on the big screen (if Sky put one up) from Monmore too, should be an exciting night. -
True, but Nigel & Kelvin were in there on my last visit to the Torun GP, they still do world feed comms I think, & work for Sky on EL.

Kuranty bar in the Old Square does nice pierogi, decent pint of Guinness too. You see quite a few former riders (& Sky crew) in there on the Saturday afternoon. Plenty of cellar bars around the Old Town Square, explore a few of the side streets, some nice restaurants, fairly small area & easily covered in no time.

U21 Final Round Gdansk - 2 October
mikec replied to scottrocks's topic in International World of Speedway
R&R's right that it's all seater. On my only visit there (for a league match) there were significant numbers stood up much of the time, especially the home fans on the back straight & 2nd bend. That should be much less of an issue in the grandstand area, unless Pieszczek's winning of course! -
U21 Final Round Gdansk - 2 October
mikec replied to scottrocks's topic in International World of Speedway
On the Gdansk club website there's a banner publicising the meeting. Click on there & it guides you through the process. Based on my experience at both tracks R&R that's fair comment. Let's hope Gdansk serves up a feast of racing this time! -
Lakeside Vs Belle Vue, 21/9/16...

Not too surprised he did OK at Lakeside, he looked decent around the tight turns of Kirky Lane a few moons ago, we didn't see enough of him though in the end. -
U21 Final Round Gdansk - 2 October

Saw Pieszczek the other time I been to Gdansk (2013), really impressed & followed his progress since. In my opinion he's a match for anyone round there, a bit like Przedpelski is round Torun. But pressure can do strange things, hopefully Rob & or Max are good enough on the night to capitalise. -
U21 Final Round Gdansk - 2 October

Ticket bought for this one, should be a great atmosphere with a partisan crowd right behind Pieszczek. Hopefully some close racing & Lambert or Fricke to spoil the party & pick up the title. -
Never really rated the Rybnik track too much going off what I've watched online. If they took an SEC round to the track at Czestochowa, now that would be worth watching!

Lakeside Vs Belle Vue, 21/9/16...

Jack Holder's an outstanding prospect, only seen him race live once, at the U21 qualifier at BV & he was quick. Max Fricke will be a GP rider in the next two years. A good gater, no probs from the back either, good equipment & head screwed on too.. Chuck Brady Kurtz, Jake Allen etc in too & Lemo must be a pretty happy chap with his Aus TM hat on. Back on thread, anything over an 8 pt deficit from the 1st leg will give BV plenty to think about come the home leg. Tatum & Cook will choose carefully their guests for this one. Definitely not the foregone conclusion some will have you believe. -

Agree with SS, ZG thought they'd go through & they were wrong. So tough to call this one, I fancy Gorzow to prevail though, just! However Hancock, Holder & Przedpelski are more than capable of running hot next Sunday & a Torun title wouldn't be a huge shock. I've no preference who wins, as a neutral speedway fan can't wait! -
Well Done To Max Clegg.
mikec replied to Sidney the robin's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Seen Max a fair few times, always showed promise, based on the last couple of months it seems like things have clicked into place for him. He's been clocking quick times at Monmore, doing well on the road too, hopefully does the same in the playoffs & beyond. Can't have too many Brits breaking through - wish him well. -

Brilliant performance so far from Torun, hardly giving Gorzow a sniff so far. Time for Stal to show their teeth or this whole tie could soon be over. -

Fancy Torun to take 8 pt lead to the second leg, 49-41. -
In the past the organisers have asked fans on social media for suggestions for tracks where they would like the series to be staged. Unsure if they still do that though. Would expect Togliatti to be one they go back to.
-
Yes we've seen that routine before haven't we - it's all part of KK's charm though, like a speedway Jekyll & Hyde!
-
Agree with you RPNYC, get our lads involved in tough racing at a good level on European tracks they rarely/never see. Sure they may struggle at first, but back them & encourage them. It's an issue that has been done to death on the Forum for years, not enough signs of it really changing either. And from a fans point of view, how good would a round staged in the UK be, somewhere like Peterborough or Belle Vue for example. Have no doubts at all about British fans supporting it, sadly I don't see it happening. Another opportunity missed, not the first time (or last) that I've used that phrase about British speedway.

That heat 20 was unreal! Laguta & Lindback, fantastic racing lads!!
-
Cheers R&R, I thought that was the case. I tend to only skim read threads these days, the EL section's put me off reading every page, it's not as friendly as this section! Pleased its an evening meeting, less issues with dust usually + atmosphere better too under the floodlights. Really delicately poised this, massive pressure on Pieszczek to deliver for the home fans though.
-
GP in Torun rarely disappoints & now the U21 title is delicately poised, fantastic weekend of racing in store - then fly home for the playoffs, hope we're still in them by then!
-
Will be able to pay on the gate i think, would be very surprised if it sells out but best advice is get there early. Chance of a Polish champion so it should be pretty busy. FIM website was showing it as 7pm start i think, R&R will confirm. Heading up from Torun GP for this one, if the weather behaves should be great occasion.

Lakeside V Swindon 16 Sept 2016
mikec replied to Speedwaycrazy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Fair comment SS, Lakeside could take a decent lead to BV. On the flipside, Nicholls flies there, Cook beat AJ twice there last time so knows a quick way round. Zagar & the Worralls go well at the Raceway too. No underestimating Hammers from anyone in Manchester though, strong at home, table doesn't lie. Was a tough ask for Robins tonight against a Hammers team on song. That Leicester home defeat really hurt them. New stadium, Doyle signed up, bright future for them beckons. -
Good luck to Bomber wherever he moves to, great servant to British speedway, have big respect for the guy. Wolves would make good sense as he's brilliant there. Or maybe he's been sounded out by an ambitious (wealthy Scottish) club looking to move up to EL in 2017?? Certainly hope no deal involving Max Fricke, be gutted if he's not first signing for the Aces in 2017.
