  1. Not sure I agree. Greg has been there or thereabouts for years. Nicki has been off the championship pace since 2012 I think.
  2. Holder absolutely does not warrant a card for next season. The selection process loses all credibility if he does and should be made to explain their decision. Hancock on the other hand deserves the chance to at least try and regain his title. In short, Hancock, Vaculic, Lebedevs, Milik for me.
  3. Is Adam Ellis a Lakeside 'asset' still? If so, I would still be surprised to see him in our line up again as I thought relations were strained with JC. Something like Lawson, Kennett, Robbo, Zach, Morley, Bowtell, A.N Other would have a nice feel to it. Perhaps keep young Jason Edwards as number 8 and keep a good eye on him as the season progresses.
  4. I like this idea. Looks like we're really pushing the reset button. National League just wasn't for me but having a team of Brits including 1 or 2 assets will be really exciting. I'd actually prefer that to a team largely of foreign riders in the PL.
  5. The Glasgow link is interesting as he (Hancock) has carried the team logo on his gp kevlars for he past couple of seasons.
  6. Would be happy to see us back in the top flight but I want to see some new faces. No disrespect intended but I don't want to see the likes of Lewis Bridger and Ed Kennett in any potential line up. Smacks of 'jobs for the boys' to me. That said, I don't have many suggestions for 2018. I like Paul Starke. Proper racer.
  7. IF this turns out to be true, then surely Torun would be relegated? Such a crime would be far worse then what was committed by Rybnik...well, Laguta anyway. I can see this being conveniently brushed under the carpet though.
  8. Oh ffs, I knew sooner or later Lakesides track would be brought up😅.
  9. Brits are more entitled to slag off our league just as we are entitled to slag off the furniture in our own homes. It's quite rightly more frowned upon if a guest says the same thing! I havent a problem with the Aussies riding here generally but I think we need to get away from letting them use the UK as a stepping stone. Especially when it could be at the expense of our own riders' development. Brits are more entitled to slag off our league just as we are entitled to slag off the furniture in our own homes. 10. I believe that if a rider finishes outside the top 8, that is not due in large part to injury, they should not be considered for a wild card. I want to see the best riders but also want to see some variety. Besides, it makes the race for top 8 all the more important if you don't have a fall back plan (wild card) in place.
  11. On the plus side, that's an awesome shirt Scotty is wearing. Poor from Tai tonight. Thought he may have pushed on....
  12. Really pleased. Showed tremendous character after his first outing. Says he wants to be world champion and I believe he means it. Barring disaster, he now has that chance. Well done skipper!
  13. Whatever happens, Cook has shown he can mix it at the top level. Doesn't sit well that Laguta hasn't had to qualify the hard way but then again, he is having a good season and would be a good addition to the GP.
  14. Surely Chris Holder wouldn't even dream of riding here next year?? Why on earth would he associate himself with such 'garbage'?
  15. I have to say that this was a ballsy move by Buster Chapman. Sure, our league and BSPA have their failings but I've grown tired of seeing riders treat it with distain. If you don't want to ride here, then don't. Not now, not ever. And certainly don't use it as a stepping stone to Poland and then when you think you have made the big time, start insulting and moaning about everything. In order to be taken more serious, we have to make stands like this regardless if the rider in question holds sentimental value to your club.
  16. Did you really? Quite sensitive if so and indicative of our 'must be outraged' culture.
  17. Having the Polish fans there is good for the atmosphere and adds to the event. There is an obnoxious, hooligan type element though that needs to be clamped down on. That attitude doesn't mix well with British speedway at all and they should be respectful of that.
  18. Not sure why you're being so argumentative tbh! But, you're right, I have absolutely no facts about any individual riders fitness or diet, nor did I claim to. My opinions are based purely on what I see and hear. Now have a nice cup of tea and relax mate.....no sugar though!;-)
  19. Naturally, there are exceptions to the rule. I can't speak about Darcy's lifestyle pre accident as I have no idea about it. I think it's safe to say that most riders won't have the natural ability that Darcy had so would need to work that extra bit harder in all aspects to maintain a similar level of performance.
  20. I remember that documentary well mate. Re-watched it on YouTube recently as well. Boocock was really laying into them! Kelvin made me laugh as even in his frustrated mood was still so eloquent and polite!
  21. I think of all the British riders, Chris actually has the closest style to that of a Polish rider. Very strong at holding off challenges etc. Chris looks a naturally stocky fellow (not fat) so perhaps it's hard to shed the necessary weight. As for fair play, it's what us Brits do! In the modern era, attitudes such as Tai's and Lewis Hamilton win titles.
  22. As a strength and conditioning coach, the fitness/diet debate is of great interest to me. It's clear to me that the Poles have a level of discipline way above ours. If you watch the Poles and the way they manoeuvre themselves round the corners, it's incredible. That takes considerable core strength believe me. Diet is clearly important as well to keep a riders weight down. I love Chris Harris and his duel with Dudek in the SWC was a glimpse of the rider who was mixing it some years ago. I just thought it a shame he isn't slightly fitter as I firmly believe he could have turned some of those 2nd / 3rd places to 1sts. Most importantly if you live like an athlete, you will feel like an athlete and perform like one. Eating kebabs and burgers screams amateur hour for me.
  23. Agree with most of that mate. We did however give Worrall a chance (I know he's 25) and for me, he outshone the young Russian. I think Stevie will be dynamite in a few years fwiw.
  24. My summary: - Poland are pretty much untouchable. They have the blueprint and should be admired for the work that has been put in over the last 15 years. Remember, it wasn't that long ago that Marcin Rempala was in the world cup side! - Cook had a bad day at the office. Nothing more, nothing less. He has a good attitude and I expect a response in Cardiff. - Lambert is very young and probably has a little too much pressure right now. I'd say he is at least on par with Tai at the same age. - Harris is a top pro. Love the guy. - Worrall, well, to see how this young man has come on in the last few years is nothing short of spectacular. There's something there that suggests he can can go up another level or two. Thanks for reading!
