Grand Prix Challenge.

QUOTE (bazaar3 @ Sep 19 2009, 02:26 PM) Got to be joking steve. Tai should be nurtured and given time. He is nowhere near this level yet. Plenty of riders who are above him and in better form like Zagar, JD, Richardson, PK, Protasiewicz, Watty and even Adam Shields. Plenty of time for Tai yet. Richardson not a Brit then steve.... Harris is obviously No 1 but tbh I wouldn't put no other Brit rider in the GP -

ZORRO YOU LIL BEAUTY.......I had a small feeling you could upset the applecart. On his day I have seen him beat just about anyone in the world and the guy fully deserves because since he went through a rough patch and dropped to PL, he turned his confidence totally around and tbh is in the best form of his life after winning the Swedish Championship last season and now this. And a huge well done to Chris Holder making it a Poole based 1-2 who also on current form deserved to sail through and will liven up the GP's for sure along hopefully with Zorro's Staying Alive dancing. Those 2 together could probably double the GP ratings.... -

Wouldn't it be fantastic if Zorro got into the GP at his ripe old age. The guy has been around for so long and I think he deserves his year for being an excellent and fantastic ambassador to the sport. He gets better with age, although I don't ever remember Cov being one of his favourite tracks. My money is Lindgren, Harris, Bjerre and Holder battling it out for the top 3 with Watty and JD as spoilers. -

NEW ENTRANT Omg, I never knew this existed. Gutted. I guess I can still join having read through the thread. Ok my side is: Emil Safutdinov 25,000 Freddie Lindgren 30,000 Nicki Pedersen 60,000 will be my El Capitan. Leigh Adams 45,000 Kenneth Bjerre 30,000 Should be 190,000. Paddy the Rebel, you should have told me about this, but I guess you didnt want me to beat you like I do on the other competions. -
Over the years there have been some great test matches having featured the major nations but which ones have really stood out in the memory for you. For me it was: On the box/video: England vs Denmark 1986/87? It was at Cradley Heath and the Danes stormed into an early lead into the meeting led by Gundersen, Nielsen and Jan O whilst England scrapped for every point and Captain Wigg even lending his green machine to Jem Doncaster but led by the starting marshall who didn't like Nielsen's antics on the inside gate and the teams tenacity, they fought back from 10 points down to get back to 2 towards the final heat. After a fantastic ride from Morton to pass Preben Eriksson and then both of them to cross the line nearly together and then end up collecting each other and crash into the first bend after the race, Wiggy and Collins just had to beat Hans from his favourite inside gate but he shot from the start and hung on for a 2 point vic to the Danes. Live: England vs Sweden vs Australia at Poole in 1991/92? The Swedes were a dominant force back then with Jonsson, Olsson, Nilsen and a young Rickardsson etc but a young England went tooth and nail until the final heat where Doncaster and Cox had to earn a 5-1 against Adams and I think home track rider Mick Poole. Donkey made the start along with Adams who drifted wide and Cocker shot between Poole and Adams for a famous victory and made the crowd go wild. Opinions...

Wild Cards For 09
bazaar3 replied to beesbarmyarmy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It has been well documented that Holder has said ' He does not wish to ride in the GP because he doesn't think he is ready' and do you really think Zagar would have been picked ahead of him.....come on. -
Wild Cards For 09
bazaar3 replied to beesbarmyarmy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Who on earth picked these wildcards....Stevie Wonder. So Bjarne Pedersen and Chris Harris have been replaced by the calibre of Sebastian Ulamek and Matej Zagar.....are they having a giraffe or what. Nicholls and Saufutdinov I understand and I am glad Holder turned down the GP series but it is really embarrassing for GB that we have only one rider in. Matej Zagar igve me a break.....Davy Watt could do better or Lindback or Hampel....even Mark Loram and he's been injured for a year. -
Wild Cards For 09

I agree and disagree. Yes, I would like to see both these two young riders in the GP as they are great talents and better than some of the other riders there... But...IMO and as CH has said, it is just a year or 2 too early for them to make the step up. Too much pressure and not many young riders who have entered the GP at an early age have actually progressed....with Hampel and Lindback to name a few. -
Well done Pedersen. I still think your a little reckless when it comes to the riding but I don't mind as your a nice bloke to chat with when your out of racing mode......and that is true of many a motor sport champion.

Where is this meeting being held? My group would be: 1 Holder 2 Saufutdinov 3 Hougarrd 4 Batchelor 5 Pavlic 6 Risager 7 Woffinden 8 Zengota 9 Kus 10 Bridger 11 Sitera 12 Karpov 13 Lindgren 14 Kononov 15 Vaculik 16 Lawson

So let me get this right..... Say for instance that Nicki and Jason get second and third next year then they go into a seeded bit of a GP challenge and say if it's a wet one off night and Crump falls or Nicki gets excluded and someone like Simon Gustafsson sneaks into the challenge and finds the meeting on his home track and qualifies into the GP. Could that be a possibility?

Chris Holder For Gp
bazaar3 replied to kaybtee's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think Holder is riding better than all of those 3 riders in Poland and I would guess Sweden. Him and Nicki joint top scorer a weeks. When it is is everywhere the rider is riding well he must be considered but I do agree with the Kasprzak bit. Give him a year or 2. -
Could have said exactly the same about the 3 that qualified last year and the year before that......they may not win a series but there is always a chance of a GP win as Rune Holta and Brian Andersen have proved.
-
I don't think there are many out there until next year who deserve to replace the current crop so I would stick with 9th, 10th and 11th and 12th. Swidders, Holder and the other young guns to be in the 2010 series.
-
Holder has already stated that he is not ready and I agree. Bet all of King Midas's fortune wouldn't get him in the GP's next season which should hopefully leave a place for Bomber or Scott to have another triumphant season.
-
Can't believe so many are predicting Sullivan.....surely his EL form says 'I'm past it' and IMO I think he has done well to get as far as the challenge. It is quite a weak meeting and I hope someone like Pavlic or Bjerre can step up but at the moment I would say; even though they have earned the right; I think stronger riders could be selected from elsewhere instead of this meeting.
